Re: New SsangYong Rexton To Re-Launch Under Mahindra Brand Name

To stand and compete with Fortuner and Endeavour M&M will have to take G4 to next level as the customer buying in this segment are little different. I doubt 5 seated car with this price tag will survive or not if they brings to INDIA.

Mahindra XUV700 Flagship Premium SUV Showcased to Dealers

Mahindra has officially unveiled their new flagship SUV, the Y400, at their Annual General Meeting. More commonly known as the XUV700, the launch of the all-new premium SUV has been confirmed to be after Diwali 2018. Mahindra is also set to introduce two new cars before Diwali 2018. One of the two cars to be launched before Diwali 2018 will be the recently named (Toyota Innova rival) Mahindra Marazzo MPV. The other will be a compact SUV which will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta.

The Mahindra XUV700 is set to be a full-sized SUV with enough space for seven seats. It will be a rebadged version of the G4 SsangYong Rexton which will either be called the Mahindra Rexton or Mahindra XUV700. The showcase version at the AGM reveals that the SUV has a new headlamp design with LED DRLs a chrome slat front grille and sporty new alloy wheels. It has similar tail lamps and bumpers to the Rexton.

The seven-seater SUV will have onboard equipment and safety features like an electric sun-roof, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system sporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ABS, EBD, electric parking brake, 9 airbags, rear windscreen defogger, hill descent control, speed sensitive steering wheel, active rollover protection and immobilizer. Interiors have premium quality with soft touch plastics and premium cognac brown leather upholstery.

The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will in all likelihood be powered by the 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine seen on the G4 Rexton. The engine produces 187 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. It comes mated to 7-speed automatic transmission. On the pricing front, the new SUV from Mahindra is expected to start from Rs 20 lakh and go up to Rs 25 lakh for the top end version. This price bracket puts it in direct competition with the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.

Re: New SsangYong Rexton To Re-Launch Under Mahindra Brand Name

Mahindra XUV700 will be last new car launch from Mahindra till April 2020

In a surprising announcement, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has revealed that they will not launch any new car after the XUV700, which is scheduled for launch later this year. The Indian utility vehicle maker has revealed that they will not launch new cars till April 2020, which is when the BS6 emission norms come into effect in India.

Mahindra will have to take some tough decisions since upgrading to BS-VI is costly, especially in case of diesel vehicles. Most top-of-the-line models such as Scorpio, Bolero and XUV500 are diesel models, and it will take considerable investment to make them BS-VI compliant. Some models may have to be phased out completely and replaced with new models that are BS-VI compliant.

I think BS VI diesel engines will be very less till or after 2020, hybrids or electric motors will be the way forward and developing a new engine all together will be very risky as Rnd cost will be pretty high with very less ROI for one company with just one major market.

Let's see how soon these techs will come into play

Re: New SsangYong Rexton To Re-Launch Under Mahindra Brand Name

2018 Mahindra XUV700 spied at a petrol pump enroute Leh, Ladakh

Mahindra showcased the Rexton based XUV700 SUV at 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year. With launch date scheduled for early 2019, the company is actively testing the new XUV700 which is slated to come in to rival both the Toyota Fortuner.

Mahindra XUV700 for India, is a rebadged SsangYong Rexton sold in the international market. It will be locally manufactured with a powertrain to suit Indian conditions while affordable pricing will allow it to gain an edge over its competitors. It has been tested extensively in Indian road conditions, including at the high altitude of Leh, Ladakh.

mahindra-xuv700-spied-leh-ladakh-india-launch-2.jpg

The 7 seater Mahindra XUV700 will measure 4,850mm in length, 1,960mm in width and 1,825mm in height. It will be positioned on a ladder frame chassis which the company claims will be stiffer and lighter with use of high strength steel in its construction. It will get a rugged stance with LED head and tail lamps with DRLs, a prominent front grille, alloy wheels in massive wheel arches and wide tyres.

2018 Mahindra XUV700’s spacious interiors will get a host of comfort and safety features which will include electrically operated seats with Nappa leather upholstery, ambient lighting, dual zone climate controls, a 9.2” touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Wi-Fi support along with 10.1” screens for passengers at the rear.

mahindra-xuv700-spied-leh-ladakh-india-launch-1.jpg

For safety, it receives a total of 9 airbags (best in class), ABS and EBD as standard and other safety features such as electronic stability control, advanced emergency braking and active roll over protection.

On launch, Mahindra XUV700 will be powered by a 2.2 liter, 4 cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine capable of 180 bhp power and 400 Nm torque. A 2.0 liter petrol engine offering 225 bhp power and 250 Nm torque will be offered at a later stage. Both engines get mated to 6 speed manual and automatic transmission options. It will come in 2WD as well as 4WD.

Set to compete with Toyota Fortuner and recently launched Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, prices of Mahindra XUV700 could range between Rs 20-25 lakhs.

Re: New SsangYong Rexton To Re-Launch Under Mahindra Brand Name

Upcoming Mahindra XUV700 Spied With 7-Speed Automatic Inside And Out

Mahindra & Mahindra have busy months ahead following the launch of all-new premium MPV, the Marazzo. Two more products are in the pipeline as the Indian manufacturer will be introducing a Fortuner rival and a Vitara Brezza competitor to have a second dash at the subcompact SUV segment.

While the S201 is expected to grace the market by festive season, Mahindra will bring in a flagship full-sized SUV that is a re-badged form of SsangYong’s globally well-received Rexton. Internally codenamed Y400, the premium SUV with credible off-roading character will sit atop the range above XUV500.

It will go head-on against Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU-X, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and soon-arriving Honda CR-V. The test mules of the SUV with probable ‘XUV700’ nameplate have been spotted since making its domestic debut at 2018 Auto Expo in either Mahindra or SsangYong badge.

However, as the launch nears the second generation Rexton is almost ready for entering showrooms. As can be seen in our latest spy images, the Y400 in white body colour does not showcase any variant details and the Mahindra emblem is hidden from viewing. But its visual and cabin appearances do give away several information that long stayed as rumours.

Originally making global premiere at the 2017 Seoul Motor Show last year, the SsangYong Rexton had indeed been displayed to shareholders and select dealers at the brand’s Annual General Meeting in Mumbai with Mahindra badge. Mahindra has made some subtle details to the big SUV especially at the front.

The vertically-slated grille and slightly modified bumper section are more aligned with Mahindra’s latest design cues and mechanical changes would have been made to suspension and other components to suit Indian road conditions. Courtesy of localisation, we can expect it to be priced competitively starting from Rs. 24 lakh (ex-showroom).

The interior spy pictures ensure that Mahindra’s version won’t have any significant tweaks. The well-executed plush interior possesses premium brown Nappa leather and black theme, topped off by a 9.2-inch HD touchscreen infotainment with connectivity options. Other main features are 7.0-inch LCD instrument cluster, smart tailgate, climate control, etc.

Taking design inspiration from the LIV-2 Concept, the Y400 has a ‘quad-frame’ construction and it measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and stands 1,800 mm with 2,865 mm wheelbase. In the international markets, it is sold with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol developing and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel.

For India, Mahindra will only sell the bigger four-cylinder diesel making 187 horsepower and 420 Nm peak torque with two- and four-wheel drive options. A seven-speed torque converter automatic, as you can see in the spy images, will handle the transmission duties at least initially.

Re: New SsangYong Rexton To Re-Launch Under Mahindra Brand Name

New Mahindra Y400 SUV to launch on October 9, 2018

Mahindra is all set to launch its new flagship SUV in the Indian market. The new SUV is yet to get officially named and is currently known by its model code, Y400. According to our sources, the Mahindra Y400 SUV will see a market launch on October 9, 2018. The new Mahindra Y400 SUV will sit above the XUV500 in the company's India line-up and will replace the first-gen SsangYong Rexton.

The Mahindra Y400 SUV made its public debut in India at the Auto Expo 2018 earlier this year and was recently showcased to the public in Mumbai at a company event.

Based on the second-gen SsangYong Rexton, the Mahindra Y400 SUV gets a unique grille design which is more in-line with other Mahindra models. Additionally, for India the Mahindra Y400 SUV will feature a tweaked suspension set-up to better suit our roads, which will result in a change in ride height and changes to its handling characteristics.

Compared to the outgoing model, the new Y400 SUV gets an updated feature list. While the model shown at the Auto Expo was equipped with projector headlamps, a 9.2-inch HD touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, a 7.0-inch LCD instrument cluster, cooled seats, Nappa leather upholstery and a smart tailgate, recent sightings of close-to-production mules have confirmed that most of the equipment above is likely to make it in the India-spec SUV.

Under the bonnet, there is a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine that produces 187hp and 420Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed torque converter automatic transmission, though all-wheel-drive will be on offer with higher-spec variants.

Estimated prices for the new Mahindra Rexton are expected to begin at Rs 24 lakh (thanks to a significant degree of localisation), which will see it undercut its rivals in this segment - the Toyota Fortuner, the Isuzu MU-X and the Ford Endeavour.

Re: New SsangYong Rexton To Re-Launch Under Mahindra Brand Name

Mahindra will find it difficult to dislodge Toyota and Ford let alone Skoda, in this segment unless their introductory price is in the range of Rs 21-23 lakhs. Additional features alone will not sway the buyers from the established players.

Re: New SsangYong Rexton To Re-Launch Under Mahindra Brand Name

Mahindra Y400 SUV launch delayed

Mahindra Y400 SUV will now launch in late-October; likely to be priced from Rs 22 lakh

Mahindra has pushed back the market launch of its upcoming flagship SUV which is still known by its codename 'Y400'. A few days ago, we had an exclusive report about the model reaching showrooms on October 9, 2018.

According to sources, the Marazzo MPV was recently launched on September 3, 2018 and dealers wanted the MPV to enjoy more floor-space as the brand’s newest launch before introducing more new products. By launching the Y400 on October 9, Mahindra would essentially leave only around a month-long gap between both launches. Secondly, most Mahindra dealerships are under renovation and upgrade along with an addition of the Mahindra Prime Zone at the moment. The Mahindra Prime Zone, as reported by us earlier, will cater to the brand’s newer launches like the Marazzo MPV and the Y400 SUV. A third model in the form of the S201 SUV is likely to join the “Prime” line-up a little later.

Apart from the above, Honda has already announced the CR-V market launch on October 9, 2018. Additionally, there is another automotive event scheduled around that date which is why the company has decided to launch the SUV a little later – likely around the end of October.

The new Mahindra Y400 SUV will sit above the XUV500 in the company's India line-up and will be a replacement for the first-gen SsangYong Rexton. The SUV will come with a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine producing 187hp and 420Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed torque converter automatic transmission, although all-wheel drive will be on offer with its higher-spec variants.

Estimated prices for this new Mahindra Rexton are expected to begin at Rs 22 lakh (thanks to a significant degree of localisation). This means that it will undercut its segment-rivals – the Toyota Fortuner, the Isuzu MU-X and the Ford Endeavour.

Re: New SsangYong Rexton To Re-Launch Under Mahindra Brand Name

Mahindra Y400 SUV ready for launch

Mahindra brought the SsangYong Rexton to India in 2012, though it didn’t make a large impact in its segment, losing out to full-size seven-seat rivals like the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in terms of sales. The game has moved ahead now, with new arrivals like the Skoda Kodiaq and Mitsubishi Outlander being introduced this year. Mahindra hopes to change all this with the new-gen Rexton when it arrives in the next few weeks, before the end of the 2018 festive season. Here’s what you can expect from what will be Mahindra’s new flagship SUV, currently codenamed Y400:

It is larger than its predecessor
The next-gen Rexton gets an all-new body-on-frame setup that is said to be stiffer than the outgoing model’s while lowering overall weight. Its dimensions have also expanded by 95mm in length (4,850mm), 60mm in width (1,960mm), 40mm in height (1,825mm) and 30mm in the wheelbase (2,865mm), which translates to more space on the inside. While the model for international markets is a five-seater, the India-spec SUV will be able to seat seven.

In terms of styling, the new Rexton gets an all-new design, which helps make the SUV a decent looker, thanks to projector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), a slim hexagonal grille, LED fog and cornering lamps at the front and 20-inch alloy wheels, with thicker rubber.

It’s got a heavily updated cabin
The insides of the upcoming flagship are also all-new and are decidedly plush. The dashboard and steering units are a completely different design and the seats and door panels are more upmarket thanks to the leather upholstery. Equipment levels will also improve considerably with the addition of a 9.2-inch HD screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (likely to come to India as well), a 360-degree camera, a 7.0-inch LCD instrument cluster and a smart tailgate. A larger sunroof is also expected to feature.

It’s got a new powertrain
The Rexton currently on sale in India has a 2.7-litre, five-cylinder diesel motor in 164hp and 186hp states of tune, which comes mated to 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The new model is powered by a new 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 1hp more (187hp at 3800rpm) and 18Nm more (420Nm at 1600-2600rpm). The motor is paired to a new 7-speed automatic that will send power to all-four wheels on higher-spec versions; rear-wheel drive will be standard on lower trims.

It’ll be priced aggressively
Available in two trims at the moment, the current Rexton RX6 is priced at Rs 24.25 lakh while the RX7 costs Rs 25.99 lakh. The new model is expected to be priced quite aggressively, starting at about Rs 24 lakh. In terms of its competition, the Toyota Fortuner is priced between Rs 27.27 lakh and 28.86 lakh for the petrol and Rs 29.29 lakh and Rs 32.97 lakh for the diesel, while the Ford Endeavour carries a Rs 26.33-30.27 lakh price tag for the 2.2-litre variants and a Rs 32.81 lakh price tag for the 3.2-litre model.

Other rivals in the segment include the Skoda Kodiaq (Rs 34.84 lakh*) and Mitsubishi Outlander (Rs 31.95 lakh^), which are priced far above their competition, though are only available in a single fully-loaded trim.

It’s market name is yet to be confirmed
Unlike the current model, the nose will sport a Mahindra badge for better brand recall (compared to the virtually unknown SsangYong badge) and the Rexton name will also be dropped to better differentiate it from the previous-gen model. While there has been plenty of speculation on the Y400’s official name, the XUV700 nameplate has been put forward the most. Taking into account that this new model will sit above the XUV500 in Mahindra’s India line-up, the XUV700 name makes sense.

All prices, ex-showroom, Delhi

*Ex-showroom, India

^Ex-showroom, Mumbai

Re: New SsangYong Rexton To Re-Launch Under Mahindra Brand Name

Mahindra XUV700 Launch Expected Very Soon In India; Likely This Month?

Mahindra & Mahindra was expected to launch the Y400, which could carry production name XUV700, on the same date as new Honda CR-V today. But, it seems that the launch has been postponed to avoid clash between the launches as XUV700 is one of the key products from the homegrown manufacturer this year.

The Mahindra XUV700 is not far away though as its market entry could happen before the end of this month. The much sought after full-sized SUV is expected to have a highly competitive price bracket courtesy of the local assembly. Rumours suggest it could be priced more that Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh cheaper than main Toyota Fortuner.

Interiors look neat but certainly can be better compared to the Toyota & Ford. This can be a big threat to the MU-X and for CR-V, well, I am sure, the top brass of M&M would have followed the CR-V launch and wouldn't disappoint us with the pricing. In White color, the design looks underwhelming to me but in darker shades like the Blue @ Expo-2018, it looks nice.
