No Gdave. I dont know exactly, But it is not possible to change the existing bulb to LEDs.
But while searching on the net, I found something.
Maybe you can order a new pair of tail lamps.

thanx buddy. But I would go for new "City" tail lamps rather than going for led complete set.
Is it compatible with 2009 tail lamp. do you have any idea?

Yes the new city tail lamps would be compatible with the old ones.
But the LED ones would look a lot nicer especially when your planning ro change your lights.

Ya that will be good. But I would like to know one more thing. Why there is no light provision for front side number plate? if want can we have some setup for that? will it look good?

Maybe you can add a LED strip above the Front number plate, Sethumurugan.

@gdave, Yes, Of course, The new city taillamps are compatible with the old city ones. Just the bulb has to be placed in thier repective positions.

I am sorry but i dont have any pics of them.

I have seen those plates in couple of cars especially in Delhi. Although my local accessory guy told me he deals in them and there pricing, i am planning to get one for the santa fe .

Basically there runs a small LED strip behind the numbers. White is the most common colour i have seen.

Actually, the number plate fixed by KLN was very bad. It was very thin it got bend very easily. Especially the front one.

So just enquired about some local guys. One guys has various options like form based, plastic based, aluminium based etc. But un fortunately the guy at the shop is not aware of the price. Each and every time he has to call someone to get the price. With the same guy with great difficult I got the Vinayagar sticker for the windshield couple of weeks back. Again the same thing happend now when wehn I was enquiring about the price for number plate.

so I pushed to another shop, where he has only form based which will be around Rs.400.

Am thinking of visiting proper shop for it.

May be I can try with something like stripes.

• All stripes are water proof?
• Will the light Illuminating will be on numbers or just it will be there.

I have seen number plates completely illuminated, in which the light will be focused on number plate.

No, All LEDs are not water proof. You can ask the local guy to give you Water proof LEDs.

In the LED method which I am saying, The Light will just be there. The numbers will be hardly seen.

In the Way Aviral said (Illuminating No Plates), The light will fall on the Numbers and make the no. Plate clearly visible.

DONT go for the Plastic Based No. Plates, I got them for Rs.200 (Rs.20 for writing number on it!) 3 years back and now, They are completely gone. They get cracked every now and then. I currently run with the BROKEN number plates and have shelled out Rs.50 yesterday to a police men (Actually, Father's Friend) :)

i had leds to illuminate my rear ind numb plate, this was around 4 years ago,i had made them place it right above the plate so the engravings on the ind plate would give a slight shadow,i really liked it & some people would ask about it then,but when car went for those high pressure wash i would find them hanging,it fell some days later on a drive,so now the stock bulbs are illuminating the plates.
