Re: Learning driving without power steering

Learning Driving without power steering would definitely give you advantage than with PS,that you never complain or fear of driving any non-PS car,i have my Brother who often complains.Plus you would feel Steering response more better in Non-PS,than PS.

Drive on Amby, sedan if possible, you will find driving small cars more easy after that, other wise go for santro.[:)]

Hi Zenga,

Its always better to learn driving without power steering so that you will learn a better control.
Once you switch over to Power steering, You might need few kilometers to get adjusted to steering sensitivity.

Re: Learning driving without power steering

that Amby they offer for learning, that come with biting point (Half Clutch) right ? I hard from a trainer Older Amby lacks the feature...(Correct me if I'm wrong)
Pl explain. How a car can be without biting point? As far as I know biting point is contact point of spinning engine shaft and clutch wheel. But diesel Ambassadors are so powerful slight release of clutch pulls the car forward, because at the contact point the engine delivers enough torque to move the wheels. This must be the case of your Ritz also.

How is maruti driving school? They have a total of 22 classes, which includes theoretical, simulator part and practical. 11 classes will consist of practical. A limit of 1 hour or 15 km whichever is earlier. All top models are available for learning (AStar, WagonR, Ritz), all with PS.

It is good for learning driving but not good enough for getting license. Which MDS are you opting?
I have talked to Premier MDS. Do they provide license too like others? Forgot to ask if it is including license. [frustration]

I would suggest you to go for any local driving school who will take care of your licensing also.

Hi Zenga,
Any car is good to learn as long as you learn, as the world has moved onto power steering learning in a car with power steering won't be a problem. In another five years no new car will come without power steering.

PS:I'm still driving a non power steering Zen for 14 years [;)]

Aneesh.

Hi....me too learn driving from the same school. If you are from proper kolkata (under Beltola RTO) then they can't help you much about obtaining licence, but if you come from Barrackpore RTO then Premier MDS have dedicated Broker (channel) to help you with.
Premier MDS have Licensing fees 1500/- per person (and thats not included in the course fees) out of which 370/- (I believe) actual government income other for OILing purpose of RTO machine .

To me the design of the course - it is most effective/helpful for a novice - but the question is how much they provide it to you ?

If you finally decided to go there, then ask them how many practical class trainer currently they are running with ? If it more than 2 then it is ok, Try to complete the class regularly and be friend with the practical class trainer only. And don't believe a single word from those ladies who sat on the table.

And ask for Ritz to drive and make sure they (if possible take a written confirmation / phone call recording) will teach you '8' formation with cone and 'H' formation in the learner course as it in their MDS website.

As I heard the statement from MDS trainer, maybe he lied to me.

Anyhow, Yes my Ritz behave the same, If I drive the car internal road, 75% time I don't need to use A-paddle at all for 2nd gear.

from 0-20-25kmph the engine do its own.

Re: Learning driving without power steering

If one person does license from outside then at most it will cost Rs 1300. Then why Rs 1500 from MDS. Totally disgusting.
I have decided to enroll at a local center and in Alto. They have Amby too at lesser cost(also KM is much less). Will request them if they can provide Amby for 1 or 2 days. [:)]

Re: Learning driving without power steering

Please check whether they actually teach you to drive or only charging for nominal car travel & license.
Very True!

My own exxperience: In all training cars, they will have a couple of accelerator, brake, clutch controls which the trainer does for trainee and thereby the traineet thinks that he can drive but actually he cannot. Also, the trainer will touch the steering sometimes but from training schools one can learn steering control well. Now, comes the most vital point. Last but not the least, I think at a stretch 1+ hrs. of learning session helps to learn quickly. But, most of the training schools allow for 20 mins max only.
