  1. A place to live in Bangalore [frustration]
  2. A new car [drive]
  3. Lot of Mallu food [:D]
@ mukeshus: Check out the mallu food list I have given to Vibhor. You will love it!

Okay, here is the Route:

  1. Start: Start from Bangalore drive straight on Bangalore-Mysore-Calicut highway. When you cross the Karnataka border, you will enter the Kerala district known as Wayanad. Please note that there is no place in this name. Its just the name of the district.
  2. Ckeck out the attractions in Wayanad district wayanad.net :: Tourist Attractions, how to get there etc.... Pookot Lake will be a nice option, whic his on the way. There many more places to see here. Post if youhave any queries.
  3. When you proceed from here, you will reach Calicut. You will also drive through the historic 9-hair pin route to enter to Calicut district. I would recommend a stay in Calicut as you will be driving for a long time, unless you have stayed some where in Wayanad.
  4. Calicut: This one of the important historical place and my home town too :-). You may visit Kappad beach were Vascoda Gama landed long back! Taste good North malabar food, enjoy the calicut beach which is in the city side itself. There are lot of temples around which were constructed 100 years ago. Please do a google on attraction in Calicut / Kozhikode.
  5. Guruvayoor: Guruvayur Temple - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is the on you way to south Kerala. Guruvayoor is best known for the Vishnu temple. As per belief, the idol worshipped here is more than 5000 years old. But there are no historical records to establish it. I suggest you pay a visit to Guruvayoor temple and its Elephant Sanctuary. This templae owns most number of elephants and will be there for temple rituals every day. Every day there is some ritual (don't know the name) before the temple is closed. It is really nice to see elephants (at least 3) taking part in the Pooja. Try to be there by evening to enojoy this.
  6. From here you drive straight to Alapuzha via Kochin. Checkout the details given for Vibhor for attractions in Alapuzha. You will enojy the back waters and the house boat ride there. I guess Raj can give more details on this?
  7. Form Alapuzha, straight to Thekkady! Enjoy the wide lake and the boat ride in the hilly terrain. Google for more details and attractions.
  8. From here drive to the paradise Munnar! Check out the details given to Vibhor. You and your family will love this place.
  9. Time to return home! Drive to Coimbatore and probably do a shopping!
  10. From Coimbatore drive straight to Mysore and then Banaglore.[:)]
Since I have to surry for a B'Day party, I might have missed out lot of information here. Please fell free to ask if you require any details inforation about the place, accomodation or ..what ever! I will try to get the details for you.

@ Other Mallus: Please add your suggestions please.

Hey Guys, there are Jeep Safaris arranged by the District Tourism Promotion Council in Idukki. One of the safaris is in and around Munnar which includes Anaimudi which is the highest point in India outside the Himalaya-Karakoram mountain range. This is the wiki link:- Anamudi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and this is the phone number of the D.T.P.C in Munnar 04865-231516 where you can get the details of their packages.

Hey the route suggested by Shynish is perfect IMO. I have been to Guruvayoor , Munnar and Thekkady before and these are places worth visiting. But you said only 5 days , is it possible for you to cover the tour suggested by Shynish?

But be prepared for poor road condition in Kerela , sorry fellow mallus no offence meant. And also beware of the Kerela state transport buses , they drive like they own the road!
