I too have washed it once and it's still working fine. I used to shake all the dust, after each wipe, so it helps in maintaining the Longevity

Before using the dusters, or even QD, judge the condition well, if the car has lots of dust, better go for a proper wash, if it's less dusty then dust with a duster and then QD, if the dust level is very low, then only go for QD, this approach may help you in reducing swirls on the car paint.
