Re: Jeep Wrangler & Cherokee Launch Confirmed For End-2013

t.Fiat is known for pricing its products very competitively lower than segment rivals with more features and offer more value for money for buyers. So,Chrysler being a part of Fiat will also be doing the same t.
:agree:, they proved it especially, punto vs swift.

Fiat to introduce the Jeep brand in December

Fiat India has been talking of having introducing the Jeep brand in India for a while, but now we learn that the company will get this brand by the end of this year in December. The Ranjangaon-based manufacturer had recently introduced the Grande Punto Sport and it is preparing for the Abarth version as well.

The company has been focusing on adding several new dealerships to the exclusive Fiat dealerships and our sources that we could see 75-80 more dealerships in the next six to eight months. Once the company has given a boost to its existing dealer line-up, we can expect the other new models to come in.

This includes the new Linea, new Grande Punto and the Punto Adventure. The other models from Fiat will be another SUV, but from the Jeep brand. The current generation Grande Punto and Linea will be sold along with the new generation, but they will then be categorised as B and C segment instead of B+ and C+.

I am especially looking forward towards the Wrangler launch and whether they launch it with petrol version only or petrol+diesel?

*Rumour*Jeep Renegade SUV for a 2017 debut in India

The Fiat-Chrysler group, which owns the Jeep brand, will bring the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUVs to India next year, as completely built units (CBU) meant to build the brand.
2015-Jeep-Renegade-SUV-5.jpg
While 2016 will see Jeep commencing manufacturing operations in the country with the Jeep Patriot/Compass replacement SUV rolling out of Fiat’s Ranjangaon manufacturing facility, the CUV Renegade could also be lined up for India.
However, 2017 is the projected launch time frame for the Jeep Renegade, which is built on Fiat’s US Small platform that it shares with the 500X crossover.
The Renegade is a 5 seater that measures a little over 4 meters, and is in fact competition to the likes of the Renault Duster and the upcoming Hyundai iX25 compact SUVs.
Both Petrol and diesel variants will be available , and Fiat could explore using the 1.5MJD for India.

Re: Fiat Confirms Debut of JEEP Brand in India

Fiat will be launching the Grand Cherokee in India this year.

The Grand Cherokee will be launched in the second half of India as we got a confirmation from Fiat Chrysler India that Jeep brand will be officially launched in the second half of 2015.
This will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that will churn out 215bhp of power and 510Nm of peak torque. This will come mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The Grand Cherokee will compete with the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz ML-Class and the BMW X3. However, this will have a lower price tag, and of course Jeep’s off-roading DNA will be embellished in it. It will be sold only with a 4×4 variant, and there might not be a 4×2 version for India.

Jeep Renegade Patented In India Launch In 2017

Jeep-Renegade-Patent-India.jpg

Waiting patiently to make its official entry into the country, Fiat has been shying away to bring the Jeep brand in India for quite some time. With a delay of almost two years now, Fiat is expected to introduce the American brand in the market*by the end of this year with the iconic Wrangler and Cherokee models that*will be brought in via the CBU route. However, the big news is that Jeep has now patented the new Renegade compact SUV in India, confirming the earlier speculations of launching its smallest offering globally*in the country by 2017.
The Jeep Renegade is the company’s most affordable model globally and was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show last year. The SUV retains the key attributes that the manufacturer is known for,*starting with the trademark grille flanked by the round headlights,*and looks*butch in every sense with minimum curves as part of the overall design language. The boxy profile coupled with a utilitarian appeal certainly adds to the Renegade’s quirky looks which will be appreciated by the fans of the brand. Furthermore, Jeep is likely to offer 4WD right from the start keeping up with the brand’s reputation, while the cabin will come loaded with a host of features and an appreciable styling.
Measuring 4.25-metres in length, the Jeep Renegade will boast of a healthy road presence and will be competing against the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross, Mahindra Scorpio and the likes in the segment. Prices though are expected to be a tad bit optimistic given the American brand’s premium positioning, and could start from Rs. 10 lakhs going up to Rs. 18 lakhs for the top-end variant. While engine options remain a mystery for the Indian market, Fiat could introduce the 1.6-litre or 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel on the Renegade with appreciable amount of power. More recently, the Italian parent company went through a joint venture with Tata Motors to produce SUVs at its Ranjangaon facility, near Pune and the Renegade could be one of the models produced at the plant.

JEEP 551 Code named SUV based on Renegade

Fiat Chrysler is planning to make India a hub for an affordable, right-hand drive SUV, under the Jeep brand. The company has already announced to invest $280 million in the country in its manufacturing joint venture with Tata Motors, at Ranjangaon, near Pune, for the production of Jeep model.

The new ‘C-SUV’, as Fiat call it, will be manufactured in 2017. This SUV will most likely be a new vehicle, which is slated to start production in Brazil in 2016, codenamed 551. The Jeep 551 shares much of its mechanical structure including suspension systems with the Jeep Renegade, but is expected to be longer than the Renegade. Engine options include a 2.0-litre petrol motor with 156bhp and a similar capacity Multijet II diesel motor, yielding 170bhp. The engine specifications for India are yet not known. The SUV will also come in a 4X4 version. We have earlier shared pictures of a production ready body of the SUV which was spied in Brazil. The global SUV will be unveiled in India itself and this will happen around the end of 2016 or early 2017.

To start with, the C-SUV will be exported to South Africa, Britain, Australia and some of the south-east Asian countries and will scale up gradually. Fiat has already started work on an exclusive dealer network for Jeep in five pilot cities. The company is also identifying suppliers and key component vendors for sourcing the parts for the new product. It will start by selling the Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler, both of which will be imported as CBUs (completely built units). The operations will commence in 2016 and the the vehicles will also be showcased at the Auto Expo in early 2016.

The Jeep brand is considered as one of the originators of the SUV and is famous world over for its rugged and all-terrain vehicles. It has been a cult since many decades and represents tough, robust, go-anywhere machines. Indian customers will soon get an opportunity to own this brand and the local manufacturing will make it affordable too. The C-SUV from Jeep is expected to be priced around INR 15 lakhs and will compete with SUVs like Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500 and also the upcoming Toyota Rush.
Intrestingly FIAT 551 and TATA Q501 Code names looks similar, So whats behind this is really TATA-FIAT joined hands to develop these low cost globel SUV?

We all already know that TATA-FIAT jointly working on upcoming 1.5L Multijet2 and 2.0L Multijet2 diesel engines with compatible GB.

Made-in-India Jeep SPOTTED – EXCLUSIVE

Jeep will be making a new C-segment SUV by the end of 2016 and we have spotted it on test in Europe. Jeep will be making a new SUV that will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that will come mated to a nine-speed ZF transmission. This is the same engine that we have been mentioning for a long time. Our sources have confirmed that Fiat has already started testing the engine in its Ranjangaon facility.

The company has increased its manpower in the research and development team from 30 to about 700. The Italian automaker has increased its spends and its plant is also undergoing expansion. The Jeep C-segment SUV will be replacing Patriot and Compass globally and it will be made in India and a few other markets.

Fiat will be making this new 2.0-litre engine in the Ranjangaon plant and Tata will be utilising this same engine on the Q502 as well. The Q502 is likely to be the new-generation Safari and it will be offered with a six-speed manual than a five-speeder. Tata will be using the Harrier platform to build this SUV. The Harrier platform is being developed with inputs from JLR and this is a monocoque and not ladder on frame. At the same time, a version of the Safari will be made with a nine-speed or a six-speed automatic as well. Jeep will be using the nine-speed majorly, while Tata might stick to a six-speed manual and automatic transmission.

Each of the brand is targeting to manufacture about 60,000 annual units, which will even include the export units. Tata Motors and Fiat are signing agreements for different engines. So far they have signed up for the 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol and the diesel is 1.3-litre. Now, the new engines will be the 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre diesels as well.

Jeep will be finally entering India after a delay of 3 years.

Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s iconic brand Jeep has been waiting for its Indian debut since ages now and after countless delays, the American manufacturer will be finally commencing operations in the country from February 2016. Ahead of the official launch, the automaker has introduced its pre-launch website that offers the first glimpse to customers and fans of its India-specific models including the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler Unlimited.

Jeep India has confirmed its participation at the upcoming Auto Expo and will be showcasing the models at the event. The interesting news is that the automaker will also launch its performance brand ‘SRT’ in the country with the flagship model being the Grand Cherokee SRT. For those looking forward to the rugged old brand, you must check out the website that gives a glimpse into the UV maker’s history dating all the way back to 1941 when it manufactured the legendary Willy’s Jeep, while the Cherokee brand was introduced in 1974.

Talking about the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, the performance bred SUV draws power from a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine tuned for 475 BHP and a hefty 630 Nm of torque. The SUV is capable of doing the 0-100 km/hr run in just 5 seconds while the exteriors are spruced up with blackened headlights and 20-inch Vapour chrome SRT alloy wheels. The interior on the SRT model gets done up in Laguna leather while a 19-speaker sound system takes care of your acoustic needs. When it goes on the sale, the Grand Cherokee SRT will rival the BMW X5 M and Mercedes GLE63 AMG in the segment and is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs. 1.40 crores (ex-showroom).

Coming to the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the luxury SUV will be offered in the top-of-the-line Summit trim with a 3.0-litre diesel heart good for 237 BHP of power. The 2016 Wrangler will be available in the four-door long-wheelbase Unlimited version powered by a 2.8-litre oil burner good for 197 BHP. The short wheelbase version is likely to be introduced at a later date. Reports suggest that Jeep will be setting up independent dealerships initially in Mumbai and Pune before expanding pan India. The detailed plan will be shared by the company at the time of launch.

Jeep Renegade compact SUV in India

Here’s some good news to kickstart 2016 with. Fiat has imported the Jeep Renegade into India. The compact SUV, which is one of Jeep’s best selling models, has been imported for Research and Development, which also means that it could be launched here in the times to come.

Jeep-Renegade-Compact-SUV-7.jpg

The Renegade imported into the country features the 2 liter Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine. Both 4X2 and 4X4 variants of the compact SUV have been imported. In the past, there have been murmurs about Jeep contemplating the Renegade for the Indian market. Also see – Jeep Renegade rumoured for a 2017 India-debut

In what is the surest sign that something’s up, no less than 14 units of the SUV have been imported. What this means is, the Renegade is meant not just for display at the upcoming Auto Expo. Fiat may take active interest in localization and testing the compact SUV with the Indian car market in mind.

The Renegade is based on the Fiat US Small platform, which it shares with the Fiat 500X crossover. However, the Renegade comes with proper off roading equipment, in line with its Jeep pedigree. Why, the Renegade even has a Trailhawk variant, which is built specifically with off roading enthusiasts in mind.

Meanwhile, Fiat India has announced that the Jeep brand will commence operations here from 2016, with the Wrangler off roader and the Grand Cherokee luxury SUV going on sale from later this year. Both these SUVs will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, and the Renegade seems all set to join this duo.

Notably, the showcasing of the Renegade at the Auto Expo could be for gauging showgoer feedback. Also, Jeep will start building the C-SUV (Patriot/Compass replacement) in India, at Fiat’s Ranjangaon factory, from 2017. Producing the Renegade at this facility could be the next big step for the American SUV brand, which is now owned by Fiat.

While the Renegade 2.0 Diesel that’s been imported as a completely built unit (CBU) to the country carries a price of about 17.5 lakh rupees, adequate localization and local manufacture could push down the price to under 10 lakh rupees. At that kind of money, the Renegade could prove to be a great foil to the likes of the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.
