some songs of these artists do require a setup with good bass but since you dont want to sacrifice the boot space with a subwoofer, go for good compos & dont forget to add an amp. a 4 ch amp would be better as it would power all your four speakers.

if at all, you buy a 2 ch amp, PLEASE connect it to the front compos & run the rear co-axials through the HU. compos will be lifeless without an amp.

Here is my answer. I mostly listen to all kind of genres.

I personally think you should go for a sub and amp.These are my favourite artists too!!!
Go for a good sub and amp and don't think about the boot space use a male-female connector so if you really need to use the whole boot space you can disconnect the woofer and keep it at your home.

You don't need the whole boot space everytime maybe only on some weekends.

Seen Xenos XCT-ASW-160 (Active Subwoofer) in some other community. Review was good and it's pretty value for money. It's got built in amp. decent performance and can be squeezed under front seat [7 cm in flat position]

I advice you to go for pioneer head unit.
Go for the dvh 3190 model , its a dvd with usb. 3190 is original model for india with 2yr warranty
else dvh 3150 is grey piece here. its original one in Malaysian region.
pioneer plays all the cds and dvds let then be a 20 rs pirated one or 200 rs original one.
sony will have a sharper audio output , but a failure, esp in dvd. not so worth investing in pioneer.
for speakers jbls will b best. polk will be somewhat sharper.
so jbls oval at rear and polk at front.
for sub woofer alpine amp unit. and jbl sub 1100 watt

true puches, efx amp and american sub(sorry i forget the make will let you know in a day).
efx amp alone cost 12k. that sub cost 8K. Believe me that was the best punch ever!

I am even ready to shell out 25 K for the Phase 1 & 20K for Phase 2.

Phase 1 - Extra - Ordinary HU, Awesome Speakers.

Phase 2 - Amplifier & Bass Tubes :)

Since you are ready to do a phased setup and upgrade.
I'll not recommend the parcel tray stuff.

What you can do is get a good hu and good speakers.
An ordinary HU + very good speakers would sound worse than good hu + good speakers.


Since you are looking into good SQ.

I'll advice you to go for Illusion speakers.

Illusion Electra components up front - 7000
Illusion Electra coaxials in rear door - 5000 ( or maybe Illusion audio 693 {6x9 for added thump})

Spend around 10-13k on a HU. Try if you can source the Clarion 785USB from us. Contact katmandude on www.techenclave.com for the same.

In the 2nd stage , Add a good 4 channel amplifier, get a good sub(boxed) and not one in the tube + wiring + damping and you would be good to go.

The Illusion Electras have really good midbass but you would be able to extract better juice outta them when you get the amplifier.

illusion electra 6.1 are just the best and VFM.for amp it depends i would suggest rockford fostage.or even jbl 604 is good if you want only single woofer.

Is the Illusion Speaskers you quoted are with B/W in chennai ?

And should i really worry about service centres of Illusion in chennai ?

Because i'm clueless on servicing aspect!

And regarding Clarion DXZ785USB, Is it better than Alpine 9886

Sorry to compare, I have compared pio's with ALpine & Alpine sounds great to me!

But never gotta chance to try it with Clarion! your inputs please
