Oh boy! Your black car is shinning like a mirror! The best part of buying a dark colored car is that you can make it shine by polishing. But again on dark color dust and swirls are more visible.

For my white car, after three hours of back breaking polishing, the car looks all the same as before polishing. :(
Thanks Kentkits.
Black car is a bit tough to maintain.

What kind of polishes are you using? Try sealants/waxes for better glaze and color depth.

Thanks Niharika.
Btw its a 'He'

Congrats on your purchase of the new black verna.

I bought the chrome window garnish from a local shop costing around 4k.
Other alternatives are from ebay.
Check your local shops first since they are usually cheaper.

Nothing eventful till 6000kms. Verna is now 7+months old.

Mileage sticks to around 12.5 kmpl.

Planning on a good pressure cleanup, polishing and waxing within a week. [clap]

Awesome, I just completed 6K on my Verna. 12.5 KMPL is pretty impressive for a petrol Verna. My diesel gives almost same mileage [cry] (thanks to Bangalore traffic)

Apologies, long time no update. Too much work and didn't get the time to upload pics or put in any updates here.

The car is running fine as of now. Fuel efficiency within the city seems to be around 13-14kmpl by MID reading.
No new accessory fittings. Most free time is spent cleaning the car and minor detailing. [:D]

Post wash

Post waxing and tire gel application. Moto g camera is not so great with low light scenes. :P

Apologies for the quality of the pics. The HDR mode on my 5mp mobile camera makes the pictures appear a bit weird sometimes.

---------------------------

Took a trip to Bhubaneswar from Kolkata in between. First time the scraped the bottom and that too really hard. The part which bore the scratches was sticking out so saved the cables to the left.
IMG_20150201_113313917_1.jpg

ODO crossed 10k km on the way back. A day after completing 1 year. Happy Birthday boy !! [clap]
20150131_225037_1.jpg

Fuel efficiency was around 15-16kmpl on the highway drive to bhubaneswar.

Renewed the insurance for the 2nd year. Continued with Bajaj Allianz. The original insurance was issued by my dealer and as per the quotes this time, they turned out to be the best combination of annual premium and high IDV. Rs 17810.

---------------------------

Went in for 2nd servicing on 1st Feb as per the booking made a week ago. Very few cars had turned up on that cold morning so the mechanics and the SA were not in a hurry to quickly get rid of the customers.
Found a better SA this time. Sometimes(quite rarely, but it was present and disturbing) I used to get a small thud noise from the front suspension while driving over speed breakers or small obstacles. Tightening all available nuts/bolts under the front wheels got that fixed.
Got the under-body anti rust coating done. It’s a 3m with a 5year warranty. There are 10 free tokens for 5 years to renew any damaged or chipped off coating. There were cheaper options available locally, but I am too lazy to go hunting for that around the city. Also, local option wouldn't have that 5 year warranty.

A heat resistance paint on the exhaust and 3m anti-rust coating on the rest of the areas.

Updating this thread after a long time. Blame it on laziness or lack of any interesting news.

Age : 22 months.
Odo : 18140 kms
City FE : 12-13
Highway FE : 15.5-17.5

1. Few Odo readings captured till date
1.jpg

Third pic is best highway FE till date. Was trying to maintain 90-100 all along.

2. Rats went on a rampage in the engine bay and ac unit after I

  • Scattered tobacco leaves and camphor around the car
  • Hung two socks full of the same plus margo soap pieces(?).

Pooped quite a bit on the ac filter mesh. May they have constipation for the rest of the life.
2.jpg

Chewed through this rubber flap.
3.jpg

In the engine bay, they chewed off the wires connecting one HID bulb, ODO wire as well as a power wire for the spark plug.

No pics of damage in the engine bay. I was too traumatized to click pics at that moment.

3. Finally decided on a synthetic engine oil. Had it changed at the Service Center.
4.jpg
Got it for Rs. 2100. Noticed the mfg date much later at home. I hope that is not a problem.

Noticeable changes as compared with previous oil provided by A.S.S (servo)

  1. Engine feels much smoother now. Less noisier.
  2. Revs easily
  3. Fe has increased in both city and highway.

Note: The mechanic might have used around 3.6l instead of the specified 3.3l. Not sure what is the impact.

4. Had a very bad time during the month of august.
Swerved to avoid a stupid cyclist who popped out of nowhere to cross the road. I braked hard and things were going well until i ran into a little gravel on the roadside. The B250s failed to get a grip and I hit a road barricade placed on the side.

The color of the barricade came off on to the bumper. Two cracks.
5.jpg

Something metal grazed against the headlight surface. No cracks or breakage.
6.jpg
Two dents on A-pillar. Luckily no damage to windshield.
7.jpg
8.jpg

5. Some moron in an i10, who didnt know how to drive or was too drunk to drive properly, managed to hit a dzire head-on and which hit my car in turn.
Pic of crime scene. This happened in the company basement parking.
9.jpg

There was a gap of 2ft between the dzire rear and my right side. Dzire had its hand brake engaged. The i10 accelerated from standstill and hit the dzire's front.

The damage was distributed between the driver door and the wheel arch panel.
10.jpg

Repairs took 3 days. There seems to be some orange peel(I believe this is the term) on the newly painted parts. There is a slight difference between the reflection on the newly painted panels and the rear door panel. I wasn't sure if it was the service center's responsibility to take care of this.
11.jpg

Note: There are a lot of new swirls/minor scratches on the body post the service center visit. These are mostly visible on the bonnet, boot lid and upper portions of the doors.
The lower portions as well as the roof are ok.

Note1: The matter was resolved with the culprit compensating for the damages.

6. Finally took the leap.

Bought at 4.6k from the local authorized person.
12.jpg

5" backing plate from aliexpress.

5.5" red, white and orange Pads ordered from Greenz.

Will post pic after my first machine detailing process.

Major concerns at the moment:
* Orange peel on driver door and F-R wheel arch panel after denting/painting.
* Scratch marks on the headlight from first accident.

I would appreciate any help on the above two problems.

7. Visited bhubaneswar this month. Odo saw 17k on the way there and 18k on the return journey.
While there, I used a pressure washer for the first time myself to clean the car. It was a bosch AQT 33-10. Pretty good for the price.
Used Megs shampoo with a wash mitt.
13.jpg

14.jpg

15.jpg
No detailing since the first accident.

Ending with clean and glossy pics after the previous few disturbing pics

Very sad to see this. Feels really bad, when your car goes through these much trouble.

Did the i10 guy pay for the damage or you claimed insurance? How much was total expenditure?

i10 guy paid, but much later. I had already fixed the problem by claiming the insurance.

Total expense was 13k out of which i paid around 4.5k.

That week was really heartbreaking. Took some time to get it back to shape.

Got the polishing machine now to pamper the car back to its old self [:D]
