Re: My Hyundai Grand I10 Asta-o Petrol booked and Delivered

Hi Parth1231
Congratulations for your new purchase and nice writeup too. I saw the Grand in Hyundai showroom last week and it really looks premium. Good choice.

A question though, what made you shift from Diesel to Petrol?

The First question: Petrol or Diesel?? (I couldn’t sort it till now by the way), I would be making a monthly run of 1000 Kms plus occasional weekend trips. All the calculators and spreadsheets suggested that Petrol is the best choice for me, however the mood of the market and the examples of petrol car owners (who park their cars back home and use bikes for office) inclined me towards diesels.

15 with 100% AC should be a reasonable figure for fresh wheels. This should improve after your first service. Out of the total 700kms that you covered how was the Highway/city ratio?

The best technique to note FE is the tank full to tank full method. You can also have the following option:
If your car is equipped with a low fuel warning light and once it comes ON say at 'x' km fill it with some 'a' litres of fuel, after covering some distance the light will once again turn ON say at 'y' km. Mileage = (y-x)km/a litres. Hope this is clear [sleep]
It was 80% highway driving.
Yes ,I prefer the low fuel warning method will have to check the manual as how much fuel still remains in the tank after this.

Thanks allhyundaicars, Please brief us after the TD. Since you are 'All hyundai Cars' you will be able to compare it well.

@ Raja, thanks I will definetely post some detailed pics but have to wait for it till next weekend as the car is at my native.

Hi, What made me shift was the fact that I was impressed with the features being offered at the top end model considering price point. Also ABS+Air Bags were my priority as I am planning to take highways for trips. My monthly running is just close to 1000 Kms.
At this price I could have only afforded the lower end models of any good diesels cars, hence the decision to go for petrol top end and also because I liked Grand I10 more than any other Hatches (except Jazz) in the market.

Still mate as I said fingers crossed about the petrol prices[frustration]

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Booked & Delivered

Congrats Parth [:)] Asta(O) 1.2 indeed is a great vfm. I have booked one for myself 2 weeks back Met. Orange and delivery is expected next week.

I assume there were no accessories or discounts offered as its a new product(atleast for me none are being offered here in Bangalore) [anger]
but did you try and get the dealer to provide Anti Rust / Teflon coating or any other free stuff ?

If yes then maybe i can push for that too.. need to take care of the bottom part of the car since there is no protection or a Sump guard provided in any model.

Cool.. i am planning to have only Anti rust treatment as of now .Read quite a few negative reviews against Teflon coating on multiple forums.Any idea on how much will it cost at Hyundai vs outside ?

I did a TD for 2-3 kms on a congested Bangalore road :) .Based on that it felt light but Micra was lighter. The ride quality was better than the Ritz . Handling was better as compared to Micra but less than Brio. Lets see when it arrives. Will post pics and further updates.

My reason for buying was more based on the value the Asta (O) featured when compared to other options i had viz Ritz , Brio and Micra.

Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Booked & Delivered

Friends further updates about my first impression of the cars interiors:-

Smart Key.
This was new to me or rather new to these segment cars. One doesn’t really have to use switches on his key to lock unlock the car. As long as you are in the range of 24inches from Car (with key in pocket) door and boot locks work- just press the switch on handle and car lock/unlocks. You can lock the car only if the Key is outside the car and the pushbutton start works only if the key is inside the car.
Each time you lock unlock the car ORVMs Auto Fold and AutoOpen respectively blinking the indicator lights. Believe me it’s an eye candy and owners pride.

Interiors:
In Asta variant you get height adjustable driver’s seat and also tilt steering and hence finding your best driving position is no hassle. As most of the time I drive with hand on the gear knob the shift lever position is spot on to my liking, it is perfectly placed between the orthodox position (between two front seats) and the dashboard. One doesn’t have to reach for the knob. However I feel the shifts are not as smooth as on Brio. The steering wheel locks when car is turned off.
Cars instrument panel displays right gear for your current speed and an arrow for upshift or downshift. However I do miss mileage indicator here.

The OEM ICE provides CD player, USB & AUX, Bluetooth and FM with 1GB internal memory. Sound quality is just above average. Steering mounted controls include Audio control, track change, call receive and end, Trip (reset and select). Bluetooth feature works perfect and the audio quality in calls is also good. Driver’s mike is placed right above driver head and does its job perfectly. With the help of steering mounted controls you can also change tracks on mobile as well.

Leather wrapped steering wheel offers good grip and solid feel to your hands plus adds to the upmarket feel. The fit and finish of duel tone dash board is also good. Air cooled glove box is another welcome feature of this car; you can turn the cooling vents on/off as per requirement.
The car has ample legroom and headroom. It feels roomy on the inside and 3 average size occupants can be comfortable on rear bench.
AC is good, I most of the time used fan speed 2 and it was cooling well. Rear AC vents work well and add to the comfort of passengers, a welcome feature from Hyundai. The rear vents can be closed when not in use.
Rear seat is foldable, though not completely flat due to the type of cushioning used.

Thanks parth for these updates. Just want to check if the Smart Key is available for the Sportz variant as well.

Did anyone from your family ride in the back seat? How is the back seat comfort? Do you have any accessory price list from hyndai for the grand i10. I know you have the top variant, but is there a chance you have this info.

Also please post pics of your car...

Hey venkythaniks, yes the smartkey is available for Sportz variant as well.
Yes my family was in back seat, as per them it is roomier and ride is better than our Vista. (Not in width though).
As per the dealer he did not have any accessories available by that time. But yes I can get this information when i go for 1st service,if you must have it earlier please let me know.

Guys here are some pics of my Car, Will shoot detail pics next week end.

i10 has the best interior compared to brio, micra, figo, polo, punto... etc. no doubt. this is awesome.

Great pictures mate, looking for more different shots.

Any idea when AT ( Automatic Transmission ) will launch ?
