How do I clean my New Fiesta?

Well, I bought a Jopasu Duster, 3M micro fibre cloth (2 Nos) and No-Rinse liquid from Ultimate Detailerz who did the paint protection job for my car.

As suggested my them, first I wipe out the dust with duster daily and it cleans superbly (most of the time this is sufficient). If any water marks or any other marks are there, I will spray the No-Rinse liquid and wipe with micro fibre cloth. It sparkles after that!!!

Earlier I use to spend almost an hour washing daily with two buckets of water, viva shampoo, cotton cloth, etc and get tired. Now after getting to know the easiest way, I save water, time and energy.

I have a normal duster [Rs 1.50] which cleans perfectly even two-three days dust. So mostly I use that. Once in a week I wash my car.

  • As a first process I will remove all my door mats, clean it with water, soap water using brush. Once I clean it I will dry it.
  • using a brush clean the car floor.
  • Then I wipe out the dust using duster
  • Apply plain water for and wipe with my hand while pouring water.
  • Take 1/4 bucket of water and one cap of Amway car wash [Earlier I use one ruppee clinic plus shampoo] and mix it properly.
  • Using a sponge, I will wipe the car with soap water and make sure the entire care is covered. First I will apply on the roof, then upper body and finally lower body [Lower body could have lot of sand/dust].
  • Then again I use plain water to clean all foam from the car
  • Then I use sponge which I bought in a auto expo which will suck the water fastly. Earlier I used to use ordinary blue cloth to wipe out the water.
  • Now my sparky looks sparkling.
  • Then I open the hood of the car and fill water in windshield cleaning tank. Once the water reaches its full capacity I put one rupee shampoo. In midway I tried colin, but it was not effective. so switched back to shampoo.
  • by the time I finish everything, door mats would have dry and lay it in car floors

This is the process Which I do on every Monday morning [it will take approximately 1 hour to complete the process]

And doing the same process from my maruti days [from 2008].

For applying water before foaming and after foaming, recently I started using hose and water sprayer at the end of the hose. but the one I got is not good. it leeks water in all side. Need to buy one good water sprayer.

Wow!! car washing is one such thing which I love as much as I love driving my car.
To start off, its been just a month that I bought my car(sorry I still could not upload any of the pics, too busy with work, will do it asap), and so I have only cleaned the car only twice. Once in a nearby service station, again that was not satisfactory enough. Although I have cleaned my dad's city and civic whenever I go to Mumbai. Last Sunday, I decided why not try cleaning the car myself. And the result after 1 and a half hour was a happy man and a clean and shining car.
I started off as below:

1) Water away the dust and other things on the car with a pipe with less water starting with the roof of the car gradually going to the bottom.
2) Use car shampoo(Amway) and start by cleaning the hood of the car, and going on to each panels and try not to clean very roughly, but very softly in circles(please correct me if I am doing it incorrectly)
3) Next clean the spokes with shampoo(no tyre foam) and lastly if at all there is any water left( which in my case is doubtful), I put it on the tyres.
4) Start the pipe and the water in less force and start off again from the roof of the car which would help the shampoo to be washed off from the car.
5) After the shampoo is washed off, take a clean MF cloth and slowly start drying the car and voila after an hour of cleaning the machine, there it, smiling and twinkling away.
Please do make sure that do not drive the car for some time as there would be water on the breaks and it may not work the way you expect it to work.

Also, since this is my first time washing my own car, I had to take a break in between the shampooing and the second time washing.

Please can someone suggest me a good car shampoo and a good car wax.

Congrats on your new car friend. Pls share your rides pics. BTW you have not mentioned your cars name.

I think Amway car wash is good. I use it for past 6 months [Before that I just use one rupee clinic plus shampoo]

Experts can suggest something on car wax.

Sethu that is a nice and quickest way of washing the car. And i am following exactly the same process which you have mentioned like duster, shampoo, brush, soft cloth.. and its been a routine for me and continued these from very long days. And one more thing i would like to mention usually at the end of the wash i will take a cloth dipped in petrol and wipe it out all the exteriors metallic for the shiny look, since mine is metallic black it sparkles a lot during the day light and visibility of scratches is less.

Please can someone suggest me a good car shampoo and a good car wax.
Try out some of these brands like Turtle Wax, Armorall, Sonax, Waxpol.

Thanks. But I found one thing that after wiping the water using the special sponge I got, i found the glasses still have the lines of water. I think for glasses I should not use that sponge and use normal blue cloth.

Actually I wanted to get the polisher, which I found in eBay for some 1000 and odd rupees for polishing my car. as of now I don't do anything. When ever possible I visit my brother in one of the mall in Chennai where he is doing dry wash for cars and he does all the things for me.

Thanks for sharing the tips. Same here. I spend hours to clean the car on weekends but it’s not so clean on weekdays. Jopasu seems like a magical duster. Let me check it out.

Formula 1 as long as it’s original. Else, stick with Amway. There is a wide range of waxes (liquid and paste). I am using old school Turtle Hard Shell wax and it still works like a charm.

Last weekend, I tried Express Car Wash after seeing some good reviews. However, I didn't find it to be great or even worth the penny.

They have all possible automated equipments to wash the car better. But I think, the shampoo or polish they use aren't much effective. I opted for Express 1 package which costed Rs. 350. This includes, Interior Vacuum Cleaning, Full Wash (Exterior, Underbody & Engine), Shampooing, Dash Board Polish (Only Dash Board and not the door panels), Exterior Polish and Tyre Polish (Though listed, wasn't done).

After the wash & polish (so called), no better result was achieved. The car wasn't shinning as expected or even to the level that local guys would do. Many places weren't even touched, which was quite disappointing. The Tyre Polishing was included in the package, but wasn't done. When I asked, they said it's not applicable... Not sure why. Most importantly, the so called Polish, though it isn't doing it's work, trying to earn future business to them again. It attracts all possible dusts on the earth. With in a day after the wash, my car looked as dirty as it was a day prior... [anger]

I find Ford to be better in this regard. The wash and polish is simply superb and the shine normally lasts for 2 - 3 weeks with normal regular wash by self. They charge Rs. 400 I guess, which can be a good bet.

Which color is your Car?
I suggest you buy the Formula 1 car care.

Waxing need weekly or monthly?
Once in two weeks is enough actually to wax it, if you drive daily then its needed.

How to cleean dashboard with any special wax?
I suggest to clean with damp cloth(with mild soap water), because have seen many flawed products which has damaged the color of dash in many cars.(My uncle's 800 dash was spoiled when he used a polish, i am not sure whether it was of wax or not.)

Do you wash your Car ?

Hi All,

I am sure that everyone loves his/her Car however old it may be !!!! .

Well my question to you is How many of you stay in apartments and regularly was your cars ?

I stay in an aprtment in Noida and do personally wash my car on a weekly basis but then the look that I get from the people passing by is like what the hell is this guy doing !!! has he gone crazy !!!

So how many of you stay in an apartment and wash/wax your car on your own on a weekly/monthly basis ? Well I know it does not make sesnse to Wax on a monthly basis.

Thanks
Sunil
