When I checked for 195/60 R14 tyres in Yokohama India website 'Earth 1' and 'S drive' came up in the search.
Any idea about the price difference, material used etc of these tyres?.
Please go to the tyre shop & click pics of ply composition of S drive. & post here, so that we can compare.

Earth1 ply composition :

Tread : 2 steel, 2 polyester, 1 nylon
Sidewall : 2 polyester

Updating after a 1000km Trip to hill stations in monsoons-

1> Hitting shallow water puddles- Good
2> Drive at 130~145- Good.
3> Hard braking- very smooth, No Skid
4> Revving hard at sharp inclines- No wheel spin.
5> Softroading in Mud/ Grass- Grass is good but in Mud the steering gets sticky. Tyre tread gets filled with mud. I was still able to manage without drama or wheelspin.

6> Comfort over high speed highway runs- Very good.
7> Comfort over Broken Roads- Manageable. Blame the roads actually.
8> Suddenly hitting Potholes/ Unmarked Speedbreakers- Good, Vehicles Holds the Line.
9> Hitting small Potholes at 100+ KMPH- Good. Can be improved a bit though.
10> High speed driving in rain, Braking in rain- Very good. No change felt between dry/wet roads.

hey i just saw the prices that you have mentioned. i bought these tyres for 3100rs and your's is too costly at 4300rs. why such a difference ?
i will add earth 1 to my verna these week and they will cost 4100rs (15") or is it because of your location " some village"
i understand that many things becomes costly since there must be many middleman involved for making the good available at a particular place.

Tyres at my Location are quite expensive.
Even for other cars/sizes they're more expensive compared to metros.

Although I haven't purchased by middleman. I had traveled to showroom in nearby city (100 km) to get these. And I guess Maharashtra is overall more expensive than other states unless you're in Mumbai etc and you can crack a deal.

Allhyundaicars - I recently bought set of 4 Yoko Earth 1 - 185/65/14 tires for my Fiesta classic in Bangalore and I paid 4,300 Rs per Tire, below is the break up and link to the thread where further details are there.

http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...16-new-shoes-tyres-ford-fiesta-classic-3.html

New Tire Price = 4,300 * 4 = 17,200 Rs
Balancing Weights = 300 Rs
4 New Valves - Cherry Company make = 800 Rs
Cash Back for my Tires = 400 Rs
So Total damaged to Pocket was 17,900 Rs

I am really surprised how could you get 15" for 4,100 Rs each, Are you paying extra for WA and balancing or is it part of same deal and which profile are you planning to buy?
Also Suggest you to change the Valves as well if your car is not new.

@ pradeep - alignment and balancing is free with the tyres. I got earth 1 for santro at 3000rs and 3100rs for the i10.
Verna's tyre size is 185 65 r15 and I will have to pay only for the baLance weights and valves. Just like car registration charges are highest in bangalore , they could be levying extra taxes on tyres as well.

I am going right now to get the tyres changed. Will update.

And many mechanics have told me this never to replace anything if it's not causing any troubles :p

Those rates are really good. Did you get proper VAT Paid bill etc with the tyres?
Also, yours could be stock size for i10, which is 155/80. Mine are wider upsize, 175/70.

Allhyundaicars - This may be true, am not sure. I had seen the prices on their PC as 4,500 or 4,550 Rs for 185/65/14 and they offered some discount and finally closed the deal for 4,300.

I am going right now to get the tyres changed. Will update
Great [clap] Keep us posted about the updates and the pics [cheers]

True, I agree. But sometimes we need to try out new things to taste the better things and not because existing things are not good [;)]

@bhvm- yes that can be a reason. Mine are stock size. And yes I did get the bill and warranty card.

@ pradeep- got confused today. There is some other noises present in the car which I want to get fixed before changing the tyres.
1 mechanic said link rods are gone , the other one said first I need to get my front bumper repaired( it needs to be repaired and painted and I agree) and then they will check if noise comes or not. Basically they will check without the bumpers from where noise could be coming.
I kid you not but my verna sounds like a 20 year old maruti 800 over rough roads. It's not the rattles from the inside but something related to suspesnion or the tyres.

I went to a second very popular shop and he agreed that mrf becomes hard and therefore noisy at the end of their lives. Will have to postpone the plan for now.
There's another issue. Check my figo thread in a day or two.

And the first shop is owned by two brothers , first one who knows me quoted 4100 rs he was not present today and the second brother quoted me 4450 rs.

The second popular shop quoted 4550rs for the verna.

Changed verna's tyres as well. Little update in my thread.
I10's bill attached. He made another bill of 400rs as service charge
Congrats for new Tires on your I10, Yoko E1 are good Tires, you will not be regretting the upgrade [;)]

Why did he charge another Rs 400 as Service charge ? [surprise] , when I bought new tires for my Fiesta Classic, I was not charged anything like this.

They did not offer WA and Balancing as part of the same deal or did you pay extra for same.

Also date and Car number is not clearly visible in the Pic, could you check the original bill and make sure it is mentioned properly to avoid any issues with the warranty claims.

I got my i10's tyre replaced on 10/05/15. I just uploaded the bill now for bhvm and you.
I have already sold my i10 so doesn't matter :p also there is a warranty card and they will ask for the same if some issue arises. Bill have zero value for warranty claims.

Check this thread
http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...dai-i10-santro-bought-yokohama-earth-1-a.html

He made another bill for his own purpose. Check the thread for details. I didn't pay for alignment and balance just the weights

Me too had got a qoute of 4200 Rs /per tyre including WaWB, valves & fitting for E1 YOKOHAMA 185 /60R15 in Pune meaning only tyre @ Rs 4000.

If you are getting a tyre at a cost too less than the other dealers, you should always check the manufacturing date code just prior to installation.
