Re: Honda Contemplating To Bring Maruti Ertiga Rival: Named Mobilio

Honda is doing some market check on what the customers are expecting from the new model in their stable.

Got a car from some company yesterday, who has been assigned to get the task done. This was after giving details on Honda's website that am interested in their new product.

Launch may happen in July, and deliveries in a couple of months from then. So July - September should be it. [clap]

They were tight lipped on everything else. Just mentioned the launch date as stated above.

“The Honda Mobilio will be launched in July 2014,” confirmed Honda Cars India Ltd. Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Jnaneswar Sen. Asked about the pricing of the vehicle, he told The Hindu that “It is still early to talk about the pricing of the car. All I can say we are concentrating on making it a compelling and attractive package.” He expressed confidence that “the launch of the Mobilio will revive the MPV segment”.
Honda to launch Mobilio in July - The Hindu

With a push for Mobilio launch in July, i'm sure of Jazz being launched by Oct-Nov of this year. Good move by Honda. [clap]

Hope to see their stable with more VFM and safe products. Also, expecting their ASS network to grow alongside.

Re: Honda Contemplating To Bring Maruti Ertiga Rival: Named Mobilio

Just got this mail from Honda stating that Mobilio is coming this July. This means the launch is in July. When will they start delivery? Any clue??

The worst part in it is, it has a spelling mistake [anger] What Honda quality if they cannot even send even a mail without proper quality check?? [thumbsdown]

It is similar to the Ertiga in terms of space and poor in cabin quality, refinement and 3rd row comfort. These are also remarks by AutocarIndia.

I also got a mailer and seriously the marketing guys are crazy :p they edited and rectified only one error, the second "we"
I guess they will correct the first "be" to a "we" in a couple of days [frustration]

I honestly wish they quickly do the Mobilio launch and quickly move on to the Jazz. I am eagerly waiting for the day when Jazz will make its launch. How long is Honda gonna make me wait [confused]

DJ bro, below is the Mobilio review I was able to find in autocar india website. If you have read a different review, request you substantiate your comments with proper links.

http://www.autocarindia.com/auto-reviews/new-honda-mobilio-mpv-review-364814,0.aspx

This is what the review mentions about the third row. "...about the last row, with the middle row left in its centre position, there’s adequate room for your knees to move about a bit with a clearance of about half an inch. However, when the middle row seats were pushed back all-the-way, your knees will feel tightly jammed against the middle seat. Overall, we'd say that with a slight compromise, the Mobilio can genuinely carry seven passengers in decent comfort."

About space and wheelbase, "the Mobilio still falls short of the Ertiga’s wheelbase by a good 100mm. However, it really doesn’t feel like this Honda MPV has a 100mm wheelbase deficit over the Ertiga and more than matches the Maruti for passenger space. "

Regarding the boot, Autocar India goes "At first glance, it does look a tad bit more capacious than the Ertiga’s boot but we’ll be able to confirm that only after a proper road test."

Bro, this is old preview. This month ACI have driven it in Jakarta and have given a detailed first drive review of the MPV in the magazine. Not yet available on the website.

Mobilio is longer than Ertiga but the wheelbase is shorter by 100mm.
Guess, where this will impact? There will be a bouncy/bumpy ride for 3rd row occupant's for sure IMO.
Also ride quality (mainly stability) of Mobilio needs to be checked on account of above factor.

Re: Honda Contemplating To Bring Maruti Ertiga Rival: Named Mobilio

Ride quality seems to be acceptable for the mobilio. But the stiffness of the body is to be suspected as there is no corrugated roof! 4.2m long Ertiga, 4.3m Enjoy and 4.6m Innova have it, but 4.4m Mobilio doesn't have it? This is a more serious issue of safety.
Moreover, the third row, though having decent space, the seating is uncomfortable with a knees-up position as in the Innova. The boot is 200ltrs compared to Ertiga's 140ltrs but the overall seating space is almost equal to the Ertiga as the boot takes up some of the extra length of the car. Interiors are bare basic looking but I guess they will make it dual tone while bringing to India. Second row comfort is good but there is no armrest![surprise] Personally I didn't like the overall profile design; the front from Brio and rear of a big MPV, doesn't seem proportionate.
The noise insulation is not enough even for the 1.5l Petrol engine. (Imagine for the diesel)
This MPV can be just competitive to the Ertiga.

Re: Honda Contemplating To Bring Maruti Ertiga Rival: Named Mobilio

Nice to see that someone really managed to get a spy shot of Mobilio well before the launch. IIRC, there was not a single spy shot of the new Honda city in India (with or without camouflage).

Looks very long from the pics. But the over-hang behind the rear wheels will be a concern, especially because the whole of third row will be on the overhung portion and will not really be comfortable usually. Also seeing Autocar's review (preview??) based on the Indonesian model, the third row is pretty low and very thin too. Will have to see how it compares to Innova and more importantly Ertiga in India. But then, we will have to wait for the official launch.
