Hello guys . I am facing a weird problem in my newly bought Honda amaze and I hope someone can help me out with this issue . While sitting next to driver seat I feel that driver seat part is slightly elevated . This is felt even when the car is not in motion .is it a common thing or should I approach the service centre since I am little worried

Did you check on the Driver Seat Height Adjustment ? If not please check it. [:)]

Hi, can someone please enlighten on the following:

1. How to fix A Pillar rattles;
2. Is there an EGR in Honda Amaze (like Swift) that needs to be cleaned? My Amaze is giving black smoke under heavy acceleration (stationary). Am a very sedate driver with rpm rarely going above 2-2.5K.

1. How to fix A Pillar rattles;
You have to carefully remove the A pillars without breaking any of the plastic locks and then use some kind of damping materials on the plastic bush areas than come in contact with the metal body to prevent rattling. Here check out my DIY

I tried to check whether an EGR is available or not, but couldn't find any helpful links. But during my search I do came across some points that state that Black smoke coming out could be a reason for an EGR valve issue or it can even be more carbon deposits . As you already mentioned you are a sedate driver , it should be the accumulation of carbon particles. Try doing an highway run and see.

Check oil color, if it is due for change change it with filter .
Black color might be due to excessive carbon deposits .. Heavy acceleration helps in cleaning it .
Carbon deposits may occur in traffic, sedate driving especially when lazy to lower the gears .
PS : It doesn't mean you should drive harshly. Black smoke is part of diesel engines.
The best way is to check the oil and change it rather than waiting for service interval.

This is not based on technical knowledge but user experience

Almost similar odo reading as mine. Most probably of the carbon deposits only. Don't worry.

Cool information[clap]
But I do have a doubt, Oil's do tend to get into black color in a span of like 3-4k kms after the change right. Does that mean it's because of more carbon deposits in the engine ?[confused]

hi vishnu vichu

what is current odo reading of amaze?

i have only completed 59k on my brio VMT
Almost touching 70k. Odo pic coming soon [;)]

Diesel engine oil color changes very quickly . what I meant really is the viscosity. It performs better once it gets heated properly .
Yes yes. Got it.

70,000 Kms Update

20161127_175619.jpg

It's been a surprisingly merry full experience with my amaze rather excluding some of the initial hiccups like the Diesel NVH and the Brake pad wear issue. We both had many awesome memories to cherish, numerous number of long trips and the infinite daily drives. So I think it's the best time to update my views of the car, since it's been with me for around 3 years and 7 months and around 70k Km's on the odo.

Drivability :

With the stock 175/65/14 tires, the low end grunt was so much. In turn that's what resulted in an accelerated brake pad wear out. The low end pull was very strong that it keeps on crawling. The OE tires do no justice to the capabilities of the car. The ABS kick in feel on panic braking was horrible too, the whole cabin used to shiver like anything on hard braking. But after changing it to 205/50/15, the crawl has been very subtle. The car has a lot more grip around corners and the ABS kick in feel is now restricted to the pedal only rather the whole cabin. I must say shodding in new tires was one of the best things that I've ever done :)

Fuel Efficiency :

I've been constantly getting around 19-20 kmpl and the worst around 15ish on heavy b2b traffic. Tankful of fuel can run around 520+ kms. I used to drive sedately during the initial months of ownership and considering that I'm a heavy footer now[lol] Attaching a picture of my FuelLog. It has fuel data from Day 1 till now.

Braking:

I have a strong feeling that after upgrading from the stock MRF's braking has improved to a whole new level. I used to get ASB kick in almost on all hard braking then and now, not even a single time now. The bite is pretty strong for the speed's it can handle and bite is quite progressive. Brake pad wear is so much controlled now. Honda has done some changes in the pad composition and now it last much longer with very less brake dust. The first set of brake pads had horrible brake dust !!

Suspension:

The only thing that I feel it could have been better is this. The suspension feels so stiff/hard over bad patches of road. Every gutter/bad patch finds it's way into the cabin. I felt I can feel the patches quite sharp. It's maybe because I'm running on 50 section rubber. But no leaks/ damages to the suspension, whatsoever. I think the suspensions best tuned for the OE section tires and if you mess that up, this will be the result [lol]

Service :

All services was done at Peninsular Honda, Trivandrum. I personally go down, wait for the car to get the things done and drive back home. I don't know if it's because of that or not, they have been really good with my car. All service costs come around 3k-5k and that's pretty reasonable. The only time it goes near 6k-7k range is when the brake pads are changed. Pretty much happy with that too.

What I love :

  • Torqueir engine.
  • Fuel Efficient.
  • Reliable till date.
  • Handling is good with the wider section tires.
  • Humongous Boot

What I Hate :

  • Even though it's damped all 4 doors and hood, engine noise still peaks in at times.
  • Lazy looking dash comparing to it's new Face lift.
  • Electronically Restricted Speedo.(It isn't a big thing and I rarely do these speeds, but at sometimes it does irritate me!
  • Suspension comfort with the low profile tires(blame me for that)
  • Lack of genuine accessories like the one's that comes for City and Jazz!

Last but no least, Always Ready to Strike a Pose :lol!:
