Very hard to quantify technology and engineering between Suzuki and Honda, especially when comparing Swift and Amaze. You would have to list at least one thing that Swift can do that Amaze cannot, and vice versa – assuming both cars have identical features. Yes, we would’ve to give one tiny bonus point to Swift because it’s proven already under hostile Indian road (and weather) conditions. And I would give a full bonus point for Maruti’s service network, parts availability and cost. And I will not give Honda a bonus point for the “H” badge and I’ll not deduct any point from Swift for carrying the Maruti/Suzuki badge.

Now that we’ve Renault, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Hyundai, Ford, etc., all operating in the Indian market, we should get over the badge factor. Simply go with what’s best. If a brand is good, it is good. We’ve to accept it. The point, in this case, if one finds Amaze good, it is indeed good. Let’s not say it’s a Honda so it’s good. If we go by that yardstick we wouldn’t be buying Bajaj bikes. Definitely, we will have cases where we would feel that one car is better than the other – in such cases we should be able to precisely articulate the pros and cons. If it’s just a feeling, it better be for the color, looks, etc.,

my 2c.
i never said that swift or any other car for that matter is bad or not competent. what i mean is that when honda toyata are ranked above suzuki when it comes to positioning cars not just in india but internationally.

Congratulations on the Amaze. Damn. 3000kms in one month. That is a lot of driving :D Can't blame you though. I did TD the Amaze and the way the engine pulled was "Amaz(e)"ing. No turbo lag. Felt like a petrol car. And that gearshift. Damn. It was a joy to use the short throw, precise box. Loved it to bits. The only thing that put me off was the engine noise. Sounded like a Tata 407 at start up. And I thought my Polo was loud.

Vipin

Its been 4 months that i have booked and waiting for the Honda Amaza 1.2 VX AT in CRP.

I have made this booking on 19/04/2013 at Costal Honda (Verna)

After a followup with the Manager I was told that

the car might be allotted to me latest by 10 Aug but in vein nothing happened.

Now i believe that 4 months is a very very long wait ...

Honda does not believe in delivering the requirements of customers ...

Inspite of knowing that i have booked the car and waiting for 4 months i received the below repy from HONDA

This has reference to your below communication received by us.

At the outset, we thank you for choosing to buy Honda Amaze.

We would also like to inform you that delivery of the vehicle to a customer is dependent on various factors such as MTOC (Make, Type, Option and Colour) which is also linked to the booking sequence number, the allocation from HCIL and production planning of the particular MTOC based on dealer orders and booking.

With regards to your concern, we are advising our dealership M/s Coastal Honda, Goa to get in touch with you and provide the necessary detail.

Best Regards

Sadly there's no govt. regulation in this business and there's no transparency.
Even the booking amount is up to the dealer to dictate.
With the launch of every successful model, auto makers and the dealers take their prospective customers for a ride.

And then there's this news:
Car sales drop for 9th month, temporary workers face the heat

They have already got a point out there, but how come the waiting period gets so longer ? That's too bad [frustration]

What was the estimated amount of waiting period when you give the booking amount ? Better your write a mail to Honda explaining your state of mind and see what's their point [roll]

I got my amaze's tyre changed yesterday. stock tyre were MRF ZVTV. Changed them with Yokohama A.drive 185/65/R14. The ride is more comfortable now and the ground clearence has been also increased by 7mm, which is an advantage to me as the road here are pathetic.
