As said by my friend Figo's spares are considerable, but the labour costs are more so its still pretty worth than the Jazz where the spares are too expensive.

There's not much of problems on figo i feel.Anyway if you're buying figo which model do you consider?

Vista doesn't scores much in that.
Agree. Vista boot space is 232 Ltr and Figo is 284

Go ahead with Figo, Exchange your existing Tyre and alloys and get 15". This will solve GC problem. 1 of my friend is using Figo from last 2 years and he is very much happy with it.

Had it not been the Ford Figo, I would simply recommend the Skoda Fabia because it offers exactly what you want – Spacious boot, decent mileage and comfortable interiors. It sure is a worthwhile alternative to Honda Jazz, which does not yet comes in Diesel. In fact, Skoda has also dropped their spare part costs which are now lesser or almost close to that of Jazz. As far as after sales is concerned, it still might be a cause of worry for some prospective buyers but is certain to improve ahead in future because of the seriousness with which Skoda is working towards Indian market. And I would also like to quote what Shailinder said elsewhere.

After Sale Support: hmmm. It is problematic but still things are improving (heard). If we can believe Fiat, I think we can also believe Skoda. (No offense intended for Fiat owners)

Note:- I have got following spare part list, they are not very expensive. Please do not compare with Maruti or Hyundai.
PS: You can find the list of Skoda Fabia spare parts cost in above quoted post.

I almost made my mind with Figo over Jazz (Only because of diesel factor !) . Will wait for next week for the Etios liva diesel. Let me see the pricing. If its worthwile, i might go, even if the space is slightly less.

Just because of Toyota reliabilty factor !! :stupid:

Changing tyre size or using any wheel other than Ford will void the warranty as told by the Dealer. [frustration]

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks good they start understanding indians.Skodas are notorious for the huge service costs ( as read from many reviews). That fear factor is still with me and so a bit hesistant to go to skode side.

Thanks Dheeraj for your feedback.
I'd TD'ed Figo and liked it in most aspects except rear power window. My worry is mostly reliability and long term service costs.
May be your Figo is fine. But statistically, there are more defective figos than any other car. Just look at Figo facebook site and see the type and number of complaints. Too scary .
I plan to keep it for 7-8 years and if i lose all the savings in fuel for the service, there is no use. Plus sleepless nights.
I've been using Alto for 5 years and it is very reliable and never let me down. I want something similar to that. I think only Japs can provide such cars.
Yes, i have concerns about fuel costs, but the other issues makes me more worried.
Hey no problem. It is your choice at the end of the day. But if you prefer Figo I hope you get the best one [:)] . My Figo is 1.5 years old and I am very happy with my ride.

Number of Problems in Brand New Toyota Etios

Pre-Launch Car Bookings – Are Indian Buyers Being Taken For a Ride?

hmm ..that's a ton of problems.thanks a ton for that.Toyota is trying to sell their brand name.
Very poor design by toyota. Especially the weather gasket is serious design flaw. I better stay away from it

Your monthly running doesn't warrant a diesel heart. A descent 1.2 ltr petrol shall do good.

My order of choice would be:
1. Jazz - Oodles of space, damn refined Honda powerplant, acceptable power/mileage combo.
2. I20 Magna - Sheer excellence in terms of interiors. Lots of space. Descent boot. Ok Ok powered engine.
3. Liva - Looooots of space. Biggest boot i guess. Nice peppy engine but yet to prove it's reliability.
4. Indica Vista - Most spacious hatch. Not sure of petrol performance and will have to accept TATA standard niggles.
5. New Swift - Latest entrant ensures freshness for lot of years to come. Descent power/mileage balance. Better spacing than old gen swift.
6. Figo - Awesome drivers car. OK OK space inside. Boring interiors though.

Happy shopping.

Rough calculation:

Jazz will cost you around 2k more per month at present prices of petrol & diesel. But will give you more piece of mind.

Figo is not exactly niggle free. There are many stories about issues related to Figo. But most of them are minor issues and not breakdown.

I hope you have personally feel both the cars. Comfort level, look, priority of feature over quality etc. are highly subjective. You should spent some time with both cars to know whether 2k per month extra cost of Jazz is justifiable or not.

May be yes. But given Jazz and Figo diesel comes in the same price range, Figo diesel is economical.

Absolutely. But 2k per month is some good money !!
Figo engine is proven engine of Fiesta. So chance of engine problems is less. Again, its been 2 years since figo is launched and Ford would have solved some of the problems if not all.
So i dont expect the service charges to be exhorbitant.
That makes me more confident.

You had said you needed a car to keep for 7-8 years. If you go for a Figo and when the time comes where you finally sell it, You will lose all the money you saved on fuel and more in depriciation. Plus Fords burn pockets at service after a while. Hondas are built to last and they can outrun the Ford, No doubt and It will hold its value better in comparison to the Ford when you sell it after 8 or more years.

Well , that said, I can counter your argument by saying that I invest the2k savings in simple recurring deposit and get more than I lost in reselling.
Its true that jazz might get better resale value. But that's 7 years later. I might as well buy new sedan our suv depends on my financial situation.

After driving Indian diesel cars for last 2year , I have likeness towards petrol cars.

Silent cabin and lesser maintenance will sure pay up in long run. Petrol car is not a bad idea..!!

I am not sure whether you actually will be saving 2k per month with the Ford when this is whats doing the rounds on the web:
