Very good idea mastiandroid5 and phoenix bird. Though I am not able to join due to my planned travel schedules, I wish you guys all the best.

As discussed already make a list of things you need to carry, book hotels and lodges in advance. Keep TASS numbers on the way handy.

I will be hooked on to this thread for updates.

One more idea, Nano owners who may not be able to do the full GQ travel can do a relay race kind of schedule (i.e. from Pune to Mumbai and Mumbai to Ahmedabad and so on).

Hope the below blog will be helpful to you -

Yes, it will be great of we could relay drive. Thanks for the sharing the link too, will take a look at it.

Will start looking at hotels, routes, better time to drive via a stretch, etc and update soon.

It will be most helpful if you could put the details of your drive in a travelogue. We will get in touch with you for details on that stretch as soon as we start going into more details.

Hey guys,
There is absolutely no problems in covering the entire GQ and it can very well be done in a Nano. Here, I would like to share my Nano trip experience. On 04 May 14, I along with my Wife and two daughters started New Delhi and reached my hometown Berhampur(Orissa) on the night of 06 May 14 covering 2160 Kms. Therefore, there is nothing to worry guys. Rock on. Best of Luck. CAR- 2012 Nano LX. I was the only driver.

Did you do the entire stretch in one go? I haven't search on the forum, but, if you have a travelogue with details, please share the same. It will be helpful for us.

Great ! This will add more confidence to this drive.
Thanks

I started from my home at Palam, Delhi at 6am in the morning on 04 May 14 and drove continuously till Allahabad except for refueling and food. I reached there at 10pm and stayed in a hotel. Then, checked out of the hotel at 7am in the next morning and drove continuously for 25 hours till I reached Kharagpur (W.B). Again I left Kharagpur at 9 am and reached Bhubaneswar around 5pm in the evening. By this time I was totally exhausted and parked my Nano roadside and took 2 hours rest. Then I started 7pm and reached my hometown Berhampur at 11pm in the night. You would be surprised to know that I did not have any Camera, Smartphone etc. Even the ICE was not working. My only company was my family and GPS(MMI Road Pilot II). I have read many travelogues but I think mine was the most challenging. The reason is that there were two small kids and and the other one is that it was a Nano. I was scared of any break down but the Nano did a fantastic job. I think it could have done another 5000kms had I extended my trip. Presently, my Nano is at my hometown and I am back in Delhi. I am a government employee and I have been transferred to Nashik. I would be taking the Nano sometime in Dec/Jan 15 to Nashik also and obviously it would be by road only.

That's hell of a journey, 25 hours at a stretch is stretching yourself, you should have taken breaks every 10-12 hours. I say this because back in Feb 2013 I was part of such a extended journey where 12 hours planned journey turned into a 21 journey and that too with heavy rains, breakdowns and lonely stretch throughout whole night, I can hardly forget that night as long as I am alive.

When you spoke of rains, I remember that as I entered Allahabad city it was raining cats and dogs with thunderstorm and strong winds. There was total blackout in the city and I had to look for a hotel. That was the only time when I was scared. Because there were three more members whose safety was my responsibility. To say about the road conditions, the roads of Jharkhand were the best in my entire trip. Friends, I only know how I reached the destination. Now, coming to your GQ drive, I again say with full confidence that not even a single nano will face any breakdown if it is serviced /checked a week before the drive. So all the best.

@nlx: Thanks for the details. Wow, 25 hours non-stop must have been very tiresome and with just two hours gap you started the journey again!!!

Vishal and I are almost ready for the trip. We are looking for hotels, etc along the way. We will be booking the hotels just two days before each destination, to take care some unexpected halts, etc.

Both our cars are ready. Vishal got the fluids changed on his car and has new fogs to improve visibility.

I visited the service center during this week, and the service center identified a misfire and changes HT cables (under warranty) and two spark plugs.

As a part of our trip preparation, got a dashcam, a very low priced one, on ebay.in (NEW HD 6 LED IR Night Version CAR DVR CAR Camera Recorder Support Upto 32GB SD | eBay)

Captured two videos, during day and night. The quality during day appears good. However, during night, only in close proximity, we can see better. I drove with the windows open, and all the camera captured was some noise, without clear audio.

Day time video from the dashcam:

Night time video:

Made a small change in day-1 travel. Instead of halt at Dharwad, now driving up to Belgaum, so that on second day, I can reach Pune early and meet up with Pankaj, who is available there until 12.00 noon.
