I am glad that Filepe is back and ferrari did not screw up like last time. Kim is in form like always and lotus might win the cup after so many years.

Good to see one of my favorite driver (Kimi after Shumi but before Vettel [;)]) is back to Podium.

Lotus is a good car. Australian circuit is mostly of curves didn't have long stretch where overtaking and straight line speed are required. Hope Lotus will surely work on it.

TFF I am still putting my money on a two horse race this year between ferrari and red bull with mclaren joining the party after a few races.

Kimi did well but i still think the car needs a few more aces apart from being good to tyres, to generally win this year!

I am not sure about mclaren as hamilton is out. Although IMO button is a better driver but seriously according to Mclaren their real star was Lewis.
Yes agreed Kim's car is not as good as scuderia's,RBRs or mclaren but Kimi is easily the best driver around now so I am expecting him to give a tough fight. I am praying that massa drives well,if Ferrari wins the constructor's cup then it would be magical. Alonso deserves a salute.

Massa wins record for longest Ferrari drought

Felipe Massa is enduring the longest victory drought in the history of all Ferrari drivers, according to an analysis by Italy’s Autosprint.

Dating back to his title-losing win in Brazil 2008, Melbourne last Sunday marked 68 consecutive races in which the Brazilian has entered a grand prix but failed to triumph.
Massa therefore takes the unenviable record from Jean Alesi, who failed to win a grand prix for the fabled Maranello marque between his Ferrari debut in 1991 until Montreal 1995 (67 races).

31-year-old Massa, however, is quoted by Brazil’s Globo as characterising the start of his 2013 campaign as “10 times better” than last year.

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo agrees: “I’m satisfied with Felipe Massa’s performance (in Melbourne) — he was very fast in qualifying and delivered a brilliant race.”

Next on Autosprint’s list of drought-stricken Ferrari drivers are Michele Alboreto (55 races), Eddie Irvine (49), Clay Regazzoni (34), Stefan Johansson (31), Rubens Barrichello (30), Chris Amon and Gerhard Berger (both 27).

But there were others in F1 history who waited even longer for a win and never achieved it, led by Andrea de Cesaris (208 grands prix), Nick Heidfeld (183) and Martin Brundle (158).

And Jarno Trulli holds the record for a winning driver who tried in vain the longest to try to add to his tally. After winning at Monaco in 2004, he raced another 135 times but never stood on the middle of the podium again.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso on Wednesday began his preparations for his 200th career grand prix this weekend by road cycling around the hot Sepang circuit.

McLaren begins task to improve flawed 2013 car

McLaren is pressing ahead with plans to improve the new 2013 car, as suggestions last year’s winning model could be resurrected begin to fade.

Despite struggling markedly with the radical new MP4-28 in Melbourne, the flawed silver machine is parked in the Sepang garage this weekend and will not be retired any time soon.

“It’s better to stick to the plan in terms of developing what we have to improve what we have — that’s always the way forward,” Jenson Button told Sky.

Indeed, the Woking based team is known as perhaps the best team in F1 at continual car
development, and the need for all those skills is now greater than ever.

It has already begun.

Sporting director Sam Michael told reporters on Thursday that previously unscheduled developments for the car have arrived in Malaysia for experimental testing.

“All our energy is going into the current car and understanding it,” he said.

Pulling out the winning 2012 car might seem like an easy and obvious solution, given the fact that most teams on the grid simply evolved their existing cars for the new season anyway.

But Anthony Rowlinson, editor of F1 Racing magazine, said it’s not quite that simple.

“They would have to re-crash test the MP4-27, have a new front wing that’s compliant with the new technical regs, have a new underfloor that’s compliant with the new technical regs.

“That in itself is a big job and then they’d arrive, say in Spain for the Spanish GP, with a car they hadn’t tested, they hadn’t run, so they’d probably be in no better a situation than they are now,” he explained.

Ferrari have strong qualifying pace and super strong race pace. Red Bull's are the fastest over a single lap but there race pace is currently very poor. They currently are dealing with excessive tire wear issues. But Red Bull's car development under Adrian Newey will surely sort out those issues like they did last year. So both Red Bull and Ferrari are title contenders. Next comes Lotus which are very good on their tires but are not the fastest on a single lap over qualifying or during race stimulation. But they showed good pace during Q2 but ultimately time in Q3 matters are they faltered. Still they have an outside chance to the cup this year if they can sustain car development like those of RB/Ferrari/Mclaren. Mercedes and Mclaren currently don't have pace to challenge the leaders but Mclaren are know for extensive car development during the year and might develop their car further so that they can challenge for race wins instead of just championship points. Surprisingly Force India have shown some excellent pace in Australia and if their qualifying pace is Malaysia proved that their Australian performance was not a fluke. So All in all a good fighting championship year ahead for us i hope.[clap]

I have and will always support ALONSO as he is one of the best drivers out their and my all time fav. Have supported him from his time in Renault were he partnered Jarno Trulli to his short stint in Mclaren, then back again to Renaulit and now to famous Scuderia Ferari.

Well massa is on fire, first time after that accident he had. Great news[:D] and scuderia might win this years constructors. Its competitors are IMO mercedes,RBR but their car has problems starting and not the best car in the wet.

Really loved watching Lewis driving into Mclaren pit stop and the guy waving him off and he then goes to Mercedes pit stop. Lewis still thinks he drives for Mclaren[clap]

On a serious note after the note one should have looked at the race podium. The atmosphere was totally low. Vettel was very selfish as he disobeyed orders from team and as Mark Webber detuned his engine and fuel mixture vettel came at him and over took him even after repeated warning from the team. Mark Webber was really furious at this as was his team who didn't congratulate Vettel through radio after crossing the finishing line as normally they used to do.

On the other side Lewis had issues with low fuel and while he was going to chase down Vettel team asked him to slow down. When Nico came close to Lewis and tried to overtake him Lewis fought back. But Lewis fuel was at dangerous levels and team asked Nico not to overtake Lewis. Fuel issue was a mistake my team and was not Lewis's fault as he was 6 seconds ahead of Nico and driving faster than Nico until fuel reserve issue was noted. Lewis was a complete gentleman and said during post interviews that he doesn't deserve the place and it should have gone to Nico. Nico also had no issues and was happy for the team who had a great result unlike Redbull where both drivers had verbal duel and Vettel unjustly snatched Webber's deserved win.

Sankar
