I think this is a superb sub 4m car, really interested in finding how the new 100 HP TDCi reacts, have been waiting for a 90+ HP Ford for so long, Happy to hear that its dynamics too dosent get huge dent.

-Kudos to Ford for offering Airbags as Standard, now if I find brand value in a car its on counts of how safe it is not how cheap it is to maintain and Ford U deserve my full appreciation for making Airbags Standard even in Ambient variant
-Full leather upholstery is great but too much beige was not welcome as it would be really difficult to clean
-I felt the interior quality is even better than Ecosports, what a pleasant surprise.
-Good space inside
-All essentials features are there, parking sensors and some additional which usually come as Standard are optional

Hi All, variant wise feature details out by Overdrive's twitter handle. Somehow I couldn't attach the pics here (some security token missing, it seems). ABS is not standard in lower two trims, though airbags are standard across all variants.

Seems the feature list long and has more than enough features to suffice most customers

Like before I think the new Aspire is playing in between the segments, sure its a sub 4m car but if its priced on par with at least Hyundai Xcent, it will have to fight the likes of Polo,Jazz along with the long list of sub 4m compact sedan

Ford has used 45% high strength Boron steel for Aspire, even Ecosport uses just 22% so thats a big big bonus regarding how strong the chassis, now Ford needs to advertise its strengths like safety,economy,Power,useful features,and considerably cheap maintenance cost to win over the mass.

As of now Job well done Ford Mo Co..
Now make a spicy pricing and there you go...

I think this is a good start for Ford India, they have completely changed the hierarchy, the Aspire is now more powerful than Ecosport,Fiesta,etc, that means the upcoming 2018 City rival Fiesta should go even more powerful or at least same Power as the Aspire, so is the case of Ecosport,

Ford has also stated that they will be unveiling 3 new products within 10 months time excluding Aspire sedan,
Figo hatch, new Endeavor, already sure to hit India and the 3rd mystery car will be surprise, I highly suspect the smell of a big V8[:D]

Looking at the features list, the base trim (Ambiente) has all the basic features you need along with standard Dual Airbags. But the Trend is VFM variant in the Aspire. The only things it misses are Auto Climate Control, Alloy Wheels, ABS with EBD compared to the Titanium variant. Though the final success story depends on how well they price it.
Ford have a interesting year ahead because 3 of their best sellers will be in the 5-10 lakh range (Figo, Aspire, Ecosport)

I am not sure in which context the aspire is more powerful.

Anyways, the kerb weight of the aspire is not mentioned, and once they do that the power to weight ratio can be estimated.

I suspect the petrol to be lethargic and the diesel to be the best in terms of pick up.

The 1.2L kappa in the xcent itself feels it has to be "pushed" to get the best out of it.

I am not able to make out their cage structure which they claim to make it from boron steel. What advantage does it have in terms of safety ? How does it make any difference from other cars ? Any ideas ???

Very good contender for a city car in terms of petrol.

Boron Steel is harder & lighter then normal steel. This helps in weight reduction & increase in performance, efficiency of the vehicle. Since Boron is also harder it is used in beams of the vehicle which helps the car to remain steady during crash. Apart from Aspire, the New Fiesta also uses it.

After the jazz prize fiasco I'm looking for figo aspire pricing more close than ever. Just to compare it with the zest petrol xt. I hope they make the deal super sweet to not to look for more options. Safety is a strong point for figo aspire. by design i consider the figo a good proportionate than figo aspire like any other compact sedan. Any idea on when they are going to announce the pricing details? I hope it might be soon since the media drive is in full focus as of now.

High strength Bororn steel is an alloy,its steel 80+% but hss finer particle adhesion than regular steel, in effect,the material has more directional and flex stability,
Directional stability is the stability of material to concentrate impact over a certain region or along a line,carbon fiber has worlds highest directional stability, then there a lot of mixtures after which comes Aluminium and its alloys, then Boron steel and regular steel and cast iron steel is last.
So high strength boron steel is stronger in distributing impact energy over its structure along a certain predetermined line or angle or area, thus designing a Boron steel chassis A pillars, B pillars, side steppings, front crumble zone fillings etc ensure much more stronger safety cage and stability or ability of chassis to remain intactmore than regular steel in case of an impact,
The Figo Aspire uses 45% high strength Boron steel from bonnet region upto theC pillars, which means new Figo Aspires rear is most unsafe region while front,and side are extremely strong compared to steel competitors..

Then the other advantage of Boron steel is weight, the Boron steel is lighter than regualr steel despite being stronger directionally and material wise, if there is one downside it is the brittle nature, if the force exceeds some serious value Boron steel can break unlike regular steel which needs like 10-15% more force to break, but thats at super huge forces like excess of 40000NM/s which is quite high.

Regarding the weight the Kerb weights of all models are out the Figo Aspire weighs from 995 to 1048 kg dependingon variants,
The diesel has a power to weight ratio of 95 bhp per ton
The petrol 1.2 TiVCT has 86 bhp per ton
The 1.5l TIVCT AT has power to weight ratio of 106 bhp per ton
All these weights are class leading or should I say class exceeding...
The Vento diesel has a Power to weight ratio lesser than Aspire,
Torque to weight too, the Figo Aspire makes 205 NM per ton while Polo 90 HP makes 201 NM per ton and Vento TDi makes 210 NM per ton, means the Aspire diesel should be a rocket..

The diesel looks promising, but what about the petrol. I am not expecting a 1.6 fiesta but as per the specifications (as on paper) what can we expect petrol fare over its competitors ?

Don't expect the Aspire's pricing to be Zest beating. It should be something closer to Dzire's pricing or maybe even slightly above it. Remember that the Airbags is a standard fitment in the Aspire.

As per specs, the Diesel Aspire is going to be a very interesting car.

As far ford is concerned, they will price it almost same as the relative etios variants. we can expect the diesel top end to touch 10L. The petrol base would be around 6-7 lakhs. If they price it too less it would make a dent. If they price it higher, it would face the same fate as the mobilio.

That means top end Titanium+ diesel will cost around 9.4 lakhs on road, Petrol AT might cost 9 lakhs on road and the top end 1.2 petrol might cost around 8.4 lakhs on road.

Then when we enquired pricing details, one of the guys told its sure to be Rs 2 lakhs less than Ecosport variant to variant he said, mentioning diesel specifically... The 1.2 petrol part was my guess, but he was sure that the Aspire diesel and the petrol AT will be 2 lakh less than Ecosports variant wise.

I got the price list for Ford Ecosport here in Bangalore after I cancelled my Jazz booking, and if 1989rs500's post says that 2lakh less than Ecosport, then here are the prices below for Bangalore

Ford Ecosport Titanium Diesel: 9.79L Ex Showroom, On Road 12.01L
Ford Ecosport Titanum+ Diesel: 10.44L Ex Showroom, On Road 13.08L

Aspire Titanium Diesel: 7.79L Ex Showroom, On Road 9.6L
Aspire Titanium+ Diesel: 8.84L Ex Showroom, On Road 10.9L

I don't understand the ridiculous safety feature strategy of Ford, unless I'm missing something here
Ford Ecosport--> ABS standard from Trend onwards, Airbags available only in Titanium and above,
Ford Aspire--> Airbag Standard from Ambiente, ABS available only in Titanium and above
[frustration]
