If a COMMON Indian without much knowledge of engines, bhp's, etc have to choose a car, suv/muv, do you think it would matter a lot to him, untill & unless he is a car freak, again we r talking for a Common Man.
He WILL undoubtedly check the car's of old and known companies like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Mahindra, Hyundai, Honda at the end may be Ford too... But Renault? Really??
His second priority will be the seating capacity. Who wouldn't want a 7 seater at the same price of a 5 seater??
He will then look for good a.$.$ and a good re-sale value(which depends on a brand to much extent).
F.E. will also be an important aspect for this customer, as most of the new customers in MUV market are those who used to drive Maruti's/Hyundai's fuel efficient hatchbacks for some couple of years.
At the end, acc. to me, main competition for a long term is between Innova, Ertiga and Xylo- all having most of the things that >90% of the customers want.
Yes, Ecosport and Duster might steal some numbers from them, But I suppose Ford and Renault will be looking to make their Brand Image better and Big through these cars, even they won't be expecting these cars to sell near the old kings of these segment.

Saby do you know 13,000 common men of India have booked the duster in 1 month ignoring the xylo, Innova and ertiga ? So figures say that atleast this common man don't care for the xylo , ertiga and Innova and prefer duster for whatever reason they feel right ?.
Renault as a company as a a.s.s how great it is needs to be seen after some years .
And not all common men think getting more seats in less or equal money is great each has their preference , priority and above everything choice and liking .
If that was the case xylo, sumo grande ( should not be mentioned also ) would have been selling 10,000 cars every month .
Most important is competetion and we must bless competetion because eventually its good for us as a coustomer.

As I said, their sales initially will be good, no doubt in that, many people were eagerly waiting for these beasts. Just like when Punto's 2012 model was launched, its sales were almost 3 times more than its previous model, sadly, despite being an awesome car, its sales again dropped...
I am not talking against these cars, undoubtedly these are very good models!

Ultimatly saby the product must be good . Sometimes just 1 product also brings a company back in the game case in study figo for ford . And then great products like sx4 , astar, zen estilo , ,etios from reliable brands like Toyota and maruti face the music too .consumer is the king if duster proves itself a reliable product it will have maybe more bookings if not it will be just rejected by people .like I allways say we Indians are emotional but not foolish . And anyway people who have more then 5 people in their family the ecosport , mini xylo , duster is just not practical plain and simple .

Frankly, the Ertiga looks decent. Infact the side profile is great. But it is not a match to the macho stance of the Ecosport.
I feel the Ertiga looks like a proper family mover.

Today I was driving through Hiranandani Powai, And saw 2 dusters from front view and instantly first thing came to my mind was this statement from Raj. And really It did resemble bit like frog. HI Raja;147141, I personally feels that Renault duster may have the advantage over the three other cars but it will be too early to comment on this because Ford is also bringing out its much awaited compact SUV Ford Ecosport. So the market will buzz out by the compact SUV'S.

Ford is trying hard for Diwali launch if not the. Expect it in jan-feb the reason is ford is negotiating with vendors as they will have 80% localization for ecosport to keep prices competitive . Now what means " competitive "in fords world needs to be seen I have a feeling the petrol ecosport will be maybe 25,000 to 50,000 more model to model then the jaaz .

I feel Ford Ecosport would definitely be the winner if its priced well. Priced well meaning Ford must make available ABS and Airbags equipped Diesel variants at a price not exceeding 9 lakhs(ex showroom).
Rest of the models with all those electrical gimoz could be priced above that but I feel Ecosport would be VFM only if Ford prices it the above mentioned way.
If Ford prices the Ecosport as they priced Fiesta Sedan , its not going to capture the market.
Till then Ertiga would offer the most Value For Money.

I guess, Quanto will attract more votes now.
These launches making us confused but in positive ways. My Ertiga delivery is by Jan2013 now I am also inclined towards Quanto. Mind says go with Quanto but Heart and Mind say go with Ertiga.
