I have completed 10,000 Kms mark on my lovely Punto on 06/05/2013. It took me 17 months to reach this small milestone. It was expected as I have done only long drives and weekend drives in city which was preplanned. Many guys can ask then i choose diesel as petrol would be a better choice for my need. Well, I am a SRK fan and heart always rules over mind. Jokes apart, the feeling punto has given me from the first time when i test drove it, i fell in love with it and no other senses capitalized over the decision to take the MJT engine.

Few Observations(Good/Bad) within this time period

Good Features and Memories
1- Punto is a gem in the highway and no other car i have seen which gives that much stability @ 120 KMPH in it's class. We will never feel you are out of control at any moment.
2- ABS-EBD is the punch to the stability it gives. You will certainly feel that when you want slow down from 100+ speed to 20.
3- Seat adjustment features are really helpful when user having short height or long legs.
4- Maintainance cost is almost zero till date. Never face any big issues except the brake disc which is again replaced under warrenty.
5- Looks, everyone knows it. Best in India in its class. People who know or do not know about FIAT, certainly turn their head. I feel White and Red are the best paint for Punto and TW is a claasy.
6- Steering, felt very stable at normal speed and felt even better at high speeds.
7- Gear, good in 2nd and absolutely no jerk in sudden pull over. In city traffic, no need to use 1st gear as you can drive from stand still @ 2nd gear.
8- Smooth like butter even if you go over any pot wholes. Never felt shacked even if i have gone through any big wholes.
9- Big space for driver and passenger seat. Many people has complimented me on this part. First person is my wife though.
10- MID options, always got required information while driving without any issues.
11- Personally liked the indicator knob position. Though it's uncommon like all indian cars, but it felt good. While driving, i always can put the indicator in my left hand with the right hand controling the handle. May be I am a righty, so it helps.
And lots more features.

Few good Memories,
1- First long drive to coorg on 1st aniaversary with wifey. Was not so confident of driving still managed to cover the hilly roads, NH quite comfortably.
2- Continues 8 hrs driving from kodaikanal to Bangalore. Highest speed touched 160KMPH with 5 people onboarded.
3- Best mileage got 23 KMPL on Highways with 2 people onboarded.
4- At Waynand, one person asked what car is this? I said why and he responded it looks awesome.
5- All long/mod drives was a good memory (Coorg, Waynand, Kodai, Bandipur, Mysore, Hyderabad, Muthathi, Sivasamudram, ...)
6- The moment First time got the Key of my OWN car, was a bit emotional but very happy.

Bad Experiences
1- On the day of receiving, returned empty handed due to dent. Though it was good during PDI.
2- First hit by the biker on the 3rd day of purchase. Replaced left ORVM.
3- Sometimes the GC is a issue, generally felt when you try to move fastly on uneven surface.
4- Inbuilt ICE, need better speakers and at least AUX/USB in today's era.
5- Due to big nose, sometimes road is not visible in traffic. But after a few days, you are OK with it.
6- Long clutch, need to adopt for new bies. After you got adopted to it, not an issue.
7- Interior Plastic quality need to be improved considaring the image it has in market.
Well, inspite of all the bad, i just love my beauty Punto.

Congrats for the milestone. Good to know that you are enjoying your Italian beauty. Yes, OEM HU and Speakers are not upto the mark. Fiat has to take a leaf out of Ford's OEM speakers. They are one of the best. Wishing you many more happy miles.

Thanks Carfreak. Yes, not only they have to change the speaks, they have to place the USB port and AUX correctly.
Good to know about your good points, i think we all think about punto in a similar way. And congrats for your 10k mark.
Thanks Vivek

Issue No. 2 is on for my beauty. The left rear window glass is not going down. Went to KHT motors yesterday to have a check. SA had a look into it and mentioned immediately that the roller has some issue and they have to replace under warranty. Unfortunately, the new set up for exclusive FASS from KHT has not ready and i had to wait for 10-12 days more until that will be ready. Else, i had to contact Vecto motors as they have the FASS set up fully functional. But, i knew that already Vecto is over loaded and i had to wait there same amount of time as KHT mentioned. Hence, decided to wait for 10 days and will go with KHT only. Some pain due to the FIAT transition period.

Hi Guys,

Planning to upgrade the stuck HU to double din. Here are my requirements,
1. Need GPS
2. Desperate to get USB/AUX
3. Need more options than just Mp3 Cds

Speakers not considered at this point of time. Approx. budget 20K.
Can I get a double din frame for Punto from FIAT? KHT Bangalore said, only they have the frame for single din which costs approx. 800 rupees.
For my requirement, is double din needed or any other options are there? I just do not want to void the warranty too. Please help me out guys.

In the mean while I have enquired with Evo Bangalore to have this done. Before proceeding further I think within 20K budget, I can not get what I am looking for.
So here are my queries,
1- If available, shall I go ahead with only double din head unit set up with GPS. No speaker upgrade ?
else
2- I will go for better single din with better speaker/amps/sub ?

Guys, please guide me to have the best set up in my punto

Well if warranty concerns, then its quite difficult to have the ICE other than OE one. I don't feel any harm in going for an aftermarket one.

Option 1 suits better, you can add amps/sub later at EBBass, does great job (slightly expensive but worth every penny)

Double is not possible in Punto as far as I know. They provided slot only for single DIN. [frustration]
Dharmesh,

I have got this pic from other forums where a linea in Chennai fitted this. I am trying something similar.

What I got is, if you cut any wire than only warranty voids in Fiat cars. Auto heads fitted head units without tampering any wiring which holds good their Warranty. Let me check again with the shop tomorrow if that can be done.

Is any double din available below 20K with GPS system? Vishwas, I think i have to stretch my budget a bit for this.

It would become too much costly installing the 2 din and after that getting the GPS installed in the 2 din HU. I would suggest you to go for 1 din HU. One of my preferred HU is JVC KDR 90BT. It would cost you somewhere close to 12k and then go for a pair of high end SQ compos. I think getting speakers(compos) would increase your budget.

There are some 1 din system, that flip up and look like 2 din. You would have all the other functionality you need. However you might have to search a little.

Hi Guys,

I have been to Satya (Evo Bangalore) on 23rd July, 2013. As soon as I reached, Satya greeted and had a fair amount of discussion on the double din set up. He asked his workers to open the central console and check. Finally, he came up with a negative response . The Reason is as below,
1- There is no good brand for double din with GPS inbuilt available in India. Hence, I had to go with aftermarket stuff which was a strict no for me.
2- To fit the double din, they have to cut the upper part of the current central console and fix an extra piece to fit the A/C. They have to adjust the wiring too. In this process there is a chance of loosing warranty. Again I am dead against it.
3- The budget needed for the entire set up may be 60-70 K depending on the choices. *I was not ready for it.

My mind was blank for a moment. Suddenly we hear an dhoom sound from outside. Satya, me ran and saw that one little boy fell with his bicycle which was having wood pieces on the back. As i turned towards my Punto, GONE !!! One piece opf wood hit my boot door which created a dent and couple of big scratches. Opps, what a day it was for me. Could not say the little fellow as he himself hurt. With a heavy heart, set with satya a bit and asked him what should be the ideal ICE set up for my taste. He listened carefully my requirements and suggested as below,

Punto Console Kit-- 1400
Cerwin Vega XED65c 6.5" Component Speakers (FRONT)--6100
Cerwin Vega XED525 5.25" Coaxial Speakers (REAR)--3100
Cerwin Vega XED600 4.4 channel amp(Below Passenger Seat)--8500
Wiring for amp and speakers(Mojo and Acustika)--2200
Door Damping*4--1000
Harness_Antenna Pin-- 350
JVC 746BT mp3 HU-- 8000

Total Cost –30650 INR

My budget was 20K but as I spoke with him and discussed about adding the amp, I thought it*may be good to spend one time. I was not looking to upgrade in near future. Hence, after a little discussion the final cost*settled to**29000K**including fitting and labor charges.
By the time half of the task done, power gone. So I had to spend couple of more hours at his shop. At 8:30 PM everything done. Then Satya went inside the car and closed all doors and glasses. Then he tuned the system for 10-15 minutes and finally asked me to get inside the car and to check the sound quality. It was a way better than my stock and just the kind of sound I wanted since almost 2 years from my lovely punto. I just forgot the whole day's bitter experience. Blue-tooth also tested with my android phone. Works like charm for calls and playing music too. No need of AUX.

Final Words
Satya is a true professional in this field. He knows exactly what a buyer needs and how to spend wisely.
Workers were also doing their job neatly
On double din, I would suggest who is/are desperate to add it, need to take a call on warranty issue (if exists) and should be in a mind set up to spend 50+ for ICE only.
Satya can do the double din stuff if you have above mentioned things in your list.
Was in dilemma over the Cerwin Vega brand as compared to other known brands. However, trusted Satya on this and he did not disappoint me. The speakers are really good at very loud scenario too. Amp also seems good enough to boost the speakers. Decent HU too with blue-tooth.

I will post the pics soon. Thank you all for your support to get it done.
