Re: Finally I Bought a Car, Nope its an SUV, the 'New Generation Mahindra Scorpio S10

Folks,

Need advice on seat covers. I was planning to get a leatherette seat covers to replace the stock fabric ones. Mine is a 2+3+3 seater S10.

Any suggestions on the shops / places that do these in Bangalore?

Thanks in advance.

And finally catch you here on your own thread . Even your silver grey is looking great. I feel it gives you that feel of premium vehicle.

Hi Vikas,

Yes, it does look premium when clean & tidy. These rains are making very difficult to have a photo session. Waiting for the rains to settle down have a neat photo session to update this thread with lots of photos.

the entire window had been covered in mist & it started from the lower portion of the window (ah!).[/QUOTE]

it happens if you don't run the ac and all the windows were closed. the air that you breathe will not move out but gets circulated inside and forms like a mist over the glasses. To avoid it keep the ac ON or roll down the windows. if the climate is chill/raining and you don't want to roll down your windows then reduce the temperature.

btb nice color choice. i was waiting for my car. i too booked the same color

I am late to the party but anyway, that was an excellent write-up. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. You have a flair of writing.

And equally great is to hear that this is your first car, and this shows how much emotionally attached to the Scorpio. Heartiest congratulations from my side and hope you have a fantastic ownership for the years to come. [:)]

For the seat covers, yes leatherette is a good choice over fabric but keep in mind that they heat up very well under direct sunlight. Waiting for some pictures from a planned photoshoot, keep the thread updated.

Yes, knew the theory well, but learnt it the practical way. I have started liking the Mist Silver colour. It tends to grow on you. But it looks good only when the exterior is very neat. Even small amount of dust spoils the look. And just appointed someone to come & clean the external daily.

It is never late for the party. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, Deepavali left a deep hole in the pocket. Waiting for the next month salary to splurge on the seats. I anyway have the a/c on almost all days. So hopefully should be ok (after the first 5-10mins of thigh-frying though!)

Met with a small incident & the vehicle is in the garage. Hopefully the photoshoot will be completed by mid-Dec or so.

@cs
Silver is actually my fav color in most of the cars especially after seeing the hyundai verna i started liking this color very much. I had seen most of the 2011 model vernas that still look great particularly in silver color. A neat shampoo wash is enough that restores the new car look. Hence i had bought my first car the grand i10 in silver color. I feel the car wouldn't show any dusts when viewed from a distance greater than 15ft.

The scorpio's silver isn't as shiny as the hyundai's verna/grand10. The car has a greyish look. First i didn't consider this color. My dad's choice was the blue because he likes blue(he never likes the red any day). Mom suggested either white or black. But i am the deciding authority [:)] always. I felt the white color is good in the previous model scorpio's. Blue and red looks good but has a toy car look when compared with other colors imo. Therefore this time i want to experience the black color but later i realised it is difficult for me to maintain the black color in top shape. Finally ended up with my ever fav color silver. Even my mom and dad agreed with my choice [clap] . For a car of this size this color will give a tougher look when compare to blue or red. After booking my car , Now i feel like the car will stand out tougher but make me to look like a toy infront of it. Thinking of modifying the exterior look to stay unique !

Wow, such a detailed explanation for the colour. The only one I was aware of was higher maintenance for Black. Yes, the grey doesn't shine as much. I guess too much shine will also spoil the majestic looks at the front & diminish the effect of the toothy grill / headlamp housing / bonnet scoop.

A simple wash brings the looks back very easily. But beware of the-so-many-cracks / curvy-design-elements everywhere which store dirt & doesn't let go.

I was very much impressed by the square-y decals in the Mighty Muscular Scorpio. I guess, you will be first to change it.

Congratulations on your new beast and the way you write. Enjoyed!!

This is a proper offroader which is in my buying radar since years. No chance of owning one in near future but who knows what is stored in future. This road killer is meant for long long drives. Wishing you millions of happy journey.

just by wiping those dirt will not remove them. use water at high pressure over that area to remove them completely.

what do you mean by square Y ?

Thanks. I am sure the 4WD is definitely a proper offroader. However I did have to hold my breath (with my 2WD) while crossing a few sections of muddy roads between Tiruvannamalai & Krishnagiri. Most of road (muddy) sections were half of the tyre height. Lorries / Buses were crossing very cautiously. But the Scorpio just eased it through.

I meant this attachment. Courtesy MotorBeam. Are you planning something similar (just decals)? I guess this is available on the front doors as well.

Yes these decals cover the bonnet, front right door, and also cover the tailgate and left side rear fender. I think one can confirm at local accessory dealers to see how they will fit on the new Scorpio.

Nope not that ! I m just planning to vinyl wrap at some places. My uncle's white scorpio has these decals which turned out yellowish due to sunlight exposure. The car is just one year old.
