Nice details 350z.
Honda City THE LEADER.
Just one silly question - Why is Alto always at Top ? I never see new ones on road .[confused][roll]

Brilliant Job Mods!!
This year of 2014 looks a Honda year with 2 big launches awaiting in the later part of the year.
Skoda Fabia hasn't scored a single sale ?!!! It certainly deserves more. No Not zero sales.
What is Ford doing? City releases much much after the famous ecosport and Honda delivers city by double the number of ecosports?

Nice report as always.

But these figures are not actual sales figure, but the number of vehicles shipped from manufacturers to dealers. right?

So the new leader has arrived.Hail Honda City, this has to be a management lesson about how to turn around in an adverse situation.Selling 7000+ in a bad financial time is no mean feat, that too when it costs more than a million ₹.Hats off to Honda management.Either Honda is prioritising City and Amaze or Brio is slowly losing sales.
Chevrolet after these many years haven't learned much.Spark has to be shown the door.Beat though looks like a face saver is struggling even with the oil burner.Talk about plain jane design and poor sales, the best examples are the Sail twins.
Ford has shown that Ecosport is like Coconut in monkey's hand, had this been with Maruti,Hyundai or Honda,it would have sold 10000+.
XUV is a star in itself,it sells about 3000+ every month and mind you the cheapest version is around 12 lakh ₹.Requires a standing ovation. But Quanto and Xylo show the maturity of Indian public, ugly contraptions aren't welcome.
Hyundai has stuffed up very segment with too similar styled cars and I can't even recollect what is what, they should cut out Santro and i10 if they don't wanna confuse buyers.Sonata has fallen on its face thanks to a petrol only model.
Volkswagen needs some new tricks like the rumoured Vento Diesel Automatic to get some numbers.
Well Skoda has just wriggled itself out of the last spot by sheer luck, the legendary ASS horror stories have come back biting.
Fiat is trying their best but with just two products which are long in the tooth,it's a surprise they manage these numbers.
The excise cut hasn't cut much with general public I guess.

IMHO,I find this verdict of yours applicable to the volkswagen too. In the table above if the first four cars in the list are made to stand adjacent to each other, you cannot make out which is the polo, vento, jetta and passat from the front angle atleast.

In the future. this will be applicable to Honda too. Brio, Amaze and mobilio. Jazz, City and Vezel may differ as city doesn't exactly look like the jazz.

So this point is probably a trend[lol]

City with a diesel heart has been a runaway success, no surprises there. Its a complete package. Honda would have sold more cars if not for their production constrains.

Ford's priority doesn't seem to be Indian customers as far as Ecosport is concerned. A great car but from a shoddy company.

Micra's sale are pathetic which is surprising considering they are now offering value for money cars. Sales wont pick up unless they increase their wafer thin sales and service network.

Hyundai and Maruti give Indians what they love, so no surprises in their numbers. Vast network means even old cars like Omni, Santro are selling well.

Etios twins can be considered as flops, more so since they both have diesel options too. Toyota underestimated Indians when they launched outdated designed cars in this era. Verto+Vibe can be added to this category too.

@ _Ankit_ Alto's customers are spread all over India thanks to Maruti's reach so no wonder its not seen much in Metros. In Delhi we seen more Swifts than Altos :)

Funny.. the old tavera outsells the newer enjoy.
Maruti and hyundai have v few flops and many steady performers
The rest have 1 or 2 stars and many flops.
Some only..
Well with TML in waiting for nrw launches it would be unfair to judge their sales just yet.
The new offer price for the brio 4.99 snd amaze should bring them close to hyundai..atleast for a wh8le.
My bet is that the xcent if priced will get hyundai to anoyher level

Good Work. Keep Going. One Suggestion, let us have consistent presentation of charts.

The sales figures may give many indications. Lets have comparison with January 2014 sales.

January-2014 Sales : Company (total sales)
Maruti(95569), Hyundai (33405), Mahindra (19792), Honda (15714), Tata (10974), Toyota (10909)

February-2014 Sales : Company (total sales)(Percentage)
Maruti(99758)(46.86%), Hyundai (33565)(15.97%), Mahindra (19308)(8.70%), Honda (14543)(6.83%), Tata (11325)(5.32%), Toyota (10190)(4.74%)

Significant change in Maruti and Tata Sales. Maruti sales improving from 95569 to 99758. Same with TATA, sales improved from 10974 to 11325. Both are improving their sales. The trend is Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). We have to watch Honda performance in March.

Some really impressive figures coming our from last month's dispatch. Honda City is simply flying off shelf and Kudos to Honda for meeting the huge demands. Today itself had gone to book it for an uncle of mine. Waiting period for Diesel V variant is just 3 weeks. Ford management should seriously be considering to get some learning lessons from the folks in Honda. Astonishing to see just under 3.5k shipping of Ecosport locally, a brilliant offering left in the hands of complete nutheads.(Pardon me for this)

Maruti Suzuki never fails to amaze me in this particular thread. Dzire and Swift are constantly chalking up these huge numbers month after month, simply amazing to see. Celerio seems to be another hit under the belt for Maruti. Now they should launch the compact SUV soon as well and increase there market share even more.

Toyota Liva sales seems to be rolling downhill month after month. Updated interiors seem to have not really sparked any increase in sales. Some serious work up the sleeves for Toyota.

Polo and Vento sales are dwindling down as well. Face-lift versions in the coming months might help in rescuing those. Its to be seen how the new 1.5TDI version will be priced. Hope they do price it sensibly.

Interesting observations:

1. Maruti Omni which was one of the oldest from Maruti is still having decent nos and able to compete with other popular brands. This inspite, it does'nt have basic requisite (now a days) like A/C, power windows etc or other safety features which are determining car's worth in market. With little innovation, this can be almost be made as a heartthrob too giving other MUVs a run for their money.
2. But for its cramped interiors (for once, it was my wish list and was almost decided to book it) Mahindera Bolero still rules the Mahindra stable. This mostly because of the various variants of the vehicle which serves the commercial sectors well rather than as personal car.
3. Ford had a golden chance to be top position using Ecosport. Looks like it simply not interested or it has other priorities. Hopefully its not too late now.
4. Its heartening to see the new Celerio straightaway heading to top 10. This has to do with brand image. Else we cannot have cars becoming hits like this.
5. It will take time, innovation and lots of efforts for other manufacturers to beat Maruti as market leader.
