Attention Mumbaikars! Ford is showcasing EcoSport now in malls of Mumbai. The car will be on display at Infinity mall in Malad starting today till January 25th and then move on to Inorbit mall, Vasi from January 27th onwards.

I dont see the possibility of such kind of price. The main reason is it is developed from the New Fiesta Platform and not the Figo platform. Moreover lesser pricing will kill New Fiesta totally. I expect the pricing to be in between Fiesta Classic (Top-end) and New Fiesta (Top-end).

If priced in 7.5 Lac for diesel i am certainly going to pick one.

Pricing of Rs.6.5 Lakhs will be too optimistic for Ford EcoSport. But I don’t think that is going to be the case here. There are strong speculations about the price falling between or slightly lower than New Ford Fiesta 2011. Anyways, the curtain will be pulled over from all the suspense by the end of 2012.

Ford Ecosport expected to be closer to 4.25 mt length.

When journalist if the EcoSport met the sub-four-metre cutoff from bumper-to-bumper, Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India categorically said, “No, it doesn’t.”

Ford doesn’t want to compromise on the standards of space and styling it has already set.This decision was also prompted by criticism that the new Fiesta is too cramped in the back seat, a mistake Ford doesn’t want to repeat with the EcoSport.

The EcoSport to start at Rs 7 lakh for the base petrol model and go up to Rs 10 lakh for the top-end diesel version.

great pics! and well guys forget dreaming of ecosport under 4 meter. i will be happy if ford price it from 7 lakh on ward only but near or more than 9-10 lakh will be flop!!

Since it does not qualify as a small car, I think pricing will be on the higher side. Ford should realise that if it gets anywhere near 9 or 10 lacs OTR, people would go for a proper SUV like Scorpio.
IMO it looks too narrow and won't have much presence(like Yeti) on the road.

well ecosport is going to have overboost function also!

The OverBoost function increases the exhaust gases by keeping the boost control valve open for a longer period of time, resulting in higher spin levels and thus increased torque. However this also creates high amount of heat and has the risk of damaging the turbocharger. Thus the Overboost function will be active for a certain amount of time (around 20 seconds) and the ECU will disable it temporary for a certain amount of time thereafter (for cooling).

What this essentially gives the EcoSport is extra torques at high revvs (200 Nm post a certain RPM). This helps in overtaking and the OverBoost function is automatically activated by the ECU when you floor the pedal to the maximum. The EcoBoost engine being a 3-cylinder motor might face the natural vibrations inherited by such a engine layout but Ford engineers have deliberately unbalanced the flywheel to prevent that. There are no balancer shafts either and the engine block is made of cast iron and not aluminum, which enables the engine to warm-up taking 50% lesser time. An internal timing belt along with the exhaust manifold being cast into the cylinder head further help in increasing the fuel consumption of this engine.

This is not the first time Overboost technology has been used in a car. Since a few years Porsche has been offering this in their 911, wherein the driver can activate overboost with the press of a button. However this is the first time overboost is being incorporated in a mass market vehicle like the Ford EcoSport. source - motorbeam.com
