The strategy for the FORD should be to launch ES on introductory price and just after couple of months increase the price, this is the only way they could survive.

There is no point in launching product with higher cost and when no one is buying, provide the same with discount.

Pricing is important no doubt considering the fiesta failure in India, but the timing also important. Already ford has lost a fortune to Duster. Since there is not date, No price and no specs from Ford yet, I am sure lots and lots of people went with Duster for sure. Only few people really do re-search, do some analysis and wait. If any serious customer walks in to Ford dealer he will be getting nothing about ES, then he enters the Renault showroom with all the info and TD, he is gonna like it. Whatever the strategy Ford following here is going cost Ford dearly.

I will wait for sure but I feel majority of the customers once make up their mind they will get the vehicle with in a month max.

Let's be patient guys.At least we will have variety in that segment. If ES come with all those luxury/safety features most of us have not seen it yet in the segment[ not even in a 22L SUV in india] including sunroof ,it will be worth a consideration,at least for me.

If at all Ford launches at 10L as suggested for the base model probably Petrol 1 L Ecoboost engine, when it comes to top end diesel It should be atleast 14 L Plus.. More expensive than anything available in the segment. Yep you might buy it but majority of the people will think otherwise for sure.

Lets wait for the specifications of the Indian version. I also read some where that some body caught an ES being tested in india without the rear mounted spare wheel.

I think you are talking about this Spotted - Ford EcoSport sans spare wheel at the tail gate
Its in Brazil, though the ES looks ugly to me with the spare on back.

I am not speculating it to be 14 L+ its based on the article I linked. Ford should know better on the pricing this time they did a test run on Fiesta . Hope they have learnt the lesson.

I have just read a news on a local website that the Ecosport launch in India is delayed till April 2013, the reasons quoted are they are not fully ready to launch it in January and also they would like to watch the budget in march and decide the pricing !!

Nah they would not get the 1.6 ecoboost, its too powerful for that. They will get the engine of the year, the 1L ecoboost.
