Success or failure of demonetization is a debatable topic based on what is considered as the objective of such a move.

What infrastructure does an average vehicle user need?
In general people hardly travel 60 KM per day. In a city mostly a lot less. Provided we are approaching the 500 km per charge mark with most electric vehicles, you hardly need to charge every 5 days, just like most people fill-up the fuel now. And with the pace at which the battery tech and charging tech is improving, we'll soon approach or maybe even surpass the battery top up time compared to the fuel fill up, and also a higher range.

Yes, we are only limiting tail pipe emissions. We are taking the exhaust pipe out of our cars and putting it out at the monstrous power stations. BUT the benefits are huge. You are reducing the per KM emission by a healthy margin, dont know the exact numbers but have read somewhere (will post the link when i find it).

NOW to the industry part. Industry are also part of the society. And industry too is responsible for the environment as much as they are responsible for economy, GDP and employment. With GLOBAL WARMING, us reaching a critical point, every individuals responsibility to do their bit, that includes the industries too.

PS. Ather has shown with right product, people are willing to buy. When I visited the experience center, there was a customer who bought the product from outside their grid. Where warranty and service is void. And oh Boy what a product they have.

Everything you said above is valid assuming the range is 500 kms !! all the big automotive giants are struggling to achieve a range of 250 - 300, not to consider the high traffic conditions. And the range will even get shorter in regions with lower temperature...

Imagine you are on a 800 km trip and having to halt for an hour for filling fuel out of no where in the remote areas..

I am not against EVs, just about the policy that is all wrong !

Government's think tank had earlier suggested banning all conventional three-wheelers and two-wheelers which are equipped with engines of up to 150 cc. According to Times Of India report, the committee has forward a cabinet note asking to assign roles to different ministries. Ministry of Road Transport And Highways (MoRTH) has been asked to work on a new framework to phase out the sale of diesel and petrol vehicles by 2030.
The first move should be to Ban all ill informed geniuses from making all these Knee jerk Bans, Stupid impractical policies and allowing only ones who are actually enthusiastic about Vehciles as well as Nature to be elected as officers ASAP.
These Super Smarts who make Policies don't know C of a Car and just make outlandish moves sitting in their Posh Airplanes & Offices.

ABB Ready To Bring In Fast Chargers For Electric Vehicles To India

With the NITI Aayog proposing to stop the sale of internal combustion engine powered cars in India by 2030, all the attention moves towards electric cars yet again. A host of carmakers, right from Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Hyundai, MG Motor India, Audi, Porsche have already shared plans of bringing electric cars to the country and it will happen in the next couple of years. But while we'd love to see these cars in the country, there's one unanimous cry for better infrastructure, which has been reiterated by Sanjeev Sharma, Managing Director, ABB India. He says, "The government of India has set some ambitious and relevant goals around electrification which is fueling various innovations like moving to electric vehicles. ABB is a company that is involved in either the distribution of electricity or the use of electricity, representing the two sides of our market, and would be delighted to help facilitate this effort in the case of electrification of transportation including motorcycles, cars, buses, trains, planes"

Maruti Suzuki To Sell Electric Cars Via Nexa Dealerships

The Maruti Suzuki Nexa dealerships were launched by the company to bring a premium experience for its customers and now sources have told carandbike that the company's electric car portfolio too will be retailed out of the Nexa dealerships. It's already been 5 years since Maruti Suzuki launched the Nexa dealerships in the country and there are already more than 250 dealerships and the company plans to open 300 service outlets by the end of 2019 which just goes to show the commitment the company has shown towards the Nexa brand. Is India's automotive industry ready for an EV makeover?

70005751.jpg

India will have to figure out its own path. Its EV fleet is small -it sold 7.6 lakh vehicles in FY19, dominated by two-wheelers (16.4%) and three-wheelers (83%), says a PwC report.

Low-cost e-rickshaws, offering cheap last-mile connectivity, is the humble winner in this race. Using leadacid batteries, some 150-odd small-scale EV makers have mushroomed, with an import-assemble-retail strategy in garage-like assembly operations. Multiple factors constrain India’s EV journey. Take cost economics, especially in the crucial passenger car segment. The world’s largest small car market is also price sensitive with 55% of sales coming from the sub-$8,000 segment.
