The entrance to the bridge is not in the frame.[frustration] So cannot lead the viewer on to the bridge.

I like the setting so much that I will make another trip to Yelagiri just to take this shot properly…[:D]
I read somewhere, you need not have to have the full frame to make it classic.

It conveys the story and the entrance is already there in that story. For me, the composition looks really great . Balanced image [clap]

Nice thread,
I have Canon rebel T3i a.ka 600D, I have 55-250mm IS and 18-55mm lenses, also have some basic tripod.

Planning to buy some filter but I got some mixed opinion about it.

also planned to buy macro extension till 7mm but kept it on hold because of some mixed opinion.

Ranger, even I have a same camera, but 18~135 IS, looking to buy 'Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Lens'. This lens was at 12.5K and reduced to 9.5K. Seriously considering buying it, anyone has any feedback. Basically I want this for candid photography and may be some macro. This is not a macro lens though. Any pointers, anyone?

I know what you mean but please go through these two links

Erik Moberg's personal homepage - photography, gadgets, DIY, and more - Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 II vs Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM: Which to get?

Erik Moberg's personal homepage - photography, gadgets, DIY, and more - Quick Sharpness Comparison

With 40mm you get bit wider view, better quality lens. Yes the 50mm is f1.8, but based on the samples I have seen the image is not that sharp at 1.8f.

So eyeing on 40mm.

oh yaa 40mm is better, sharper and wider. 50mm is equally good for daily use and street photography. now 40mm is available at 9k go for it and let me know your review. only 3k difference between 40 and 50[clap]

I thinks we should give more importance to framing/composition. The above pictures could be framed/composed tighter or with less distracting backgrounds. Try not to place your subject plump in the center. Other than the first image, for the rest of the images, following the rule of third would have produced pleasing images.

Thanks HR for the input [clap]
Totally agree, the framing makes a big difference in pictures. It creates a space and the intent of the photograph. It also puts emphasis on the subjects. Yes most of the times we don't get time to set up the frames during candid, or street photography, but we can crop it and re-frame at post processing. I have seen some of my pretty ordinary shots turning into great shots with minor cropping. I think that's where the mega pixels advantage lies. There is absolutely no necessary for 18mega pixel camera. For me advantage is I am able to crop and zoom without much difficulty because of the real estate available.

yes Im aware rule of 3rd, these all just taken in quick time while walking, subjects had no time to pose,

above one is purely a quick street photography,

55-250mm finds it difficult to focus quickly under low light and that is the reason I said im missing Prime lens for low light street photography,

50mm f/1.8 or 40mm f/2.8 are very fast in focusing and takes even sharper images, only drawback is they are fixed lens you cannot zoom and not easy to use it for candid. [cry]

Bangalore,
In addition I dont think rule of 3rd is must for each and every pic or style of pic,
for portrait I like this kind of presentation too,
