thanks cooldhaya will check out potenza too, S-drive is ruled out as it more suited to sporty driving and not inherently durable...i dont drive the civic that way anyways...C drive are better than A drives - A drives wet performance is a question mark. C Drive is more allround and durable.

Yes the upsize is correct just around the 2% limit mark..

C-Drives are for extreme wet condition driving and thus the tyre will be noisy. Ilango had S-Drive in his Lancer and he was satisfied with it. I am very much satisfied with the A-Drive wet performance in my Verna , much better than Bridgestone and Apollo Accelere , aquaplaning does not happen even at high speeds.

Thanks cooldhaya i will check out S drive again, i intend to have this revalidated at the civic forums. most civic owners so far met prefer c drive and crib about the A drive wet weather performance(especially mumbai civic owners)

well nothing wrong in directional tyres per se and i used to have them on my ford before- just that i dont prefer them to my use on every day driving cars and indian road conditions, you lose the flexibility to fix them on opp sides(while some allow refitting it the other way on the rim ) - but simply not worth the hassle, i would prefer asymmetric but non directional.

yes that photo was taken not with the intention of filming the civic..

On a separate topic, i need some urgent suggestions, i am looking to replace 4 tyres ASAP this week, the stock ones are good year 195/65 R15, i am looking to upsize to 205/65 R15.

While i have experienced many a tires, i seem to have shortlisted Yoko (C Drive or A drive ) , Goodyear Assurance( the one with Kevlar inside for superior puncture resistance, not the normal NCT they are pathetic) - i dont need a soft comfort tyre but something that can take beating and will be durable long life.

I am not worried abt tyre noise either - i dont speed and the civic is anyways inherently super silent driving with the ac on all the time.

Wanted to understand if there are any tyre experts who can suggest other options, if you are aware of prices please share as well ?
yea you can upsize it to 205/65 R15.my civic has michelin primacy lc .they are really good and quite.you might upgade to them.but if you are looking for sport oriented go for other brands such as yoko s drives.

Folks have finally made up my mind on Yoko C drive and got it yesterday, its priced between A drive and S drive. The S drive is really not for my needs. The A drive didnt have good wet reviews, the dealer gave me a very good price for the C drive so went for it. Michelins were good too but priced much higher. Bridgestone dealer nearby didnt have the size i was after.

Poona Tyres on Nagar road/wagholi is a wholesale importer and distributor in Pune, stocks most tyres and serve most of the bigger stores in pune and mumbai, ill recommend you to check his prices out - it seems much better than most pune stores. He also stores alloys and has a fantastic range - even saw some large cayenne and Q7 alloys and was drooling.
If you are looking for alloys and tyres in pune you should definately check out his place -its more of a godown than a showroom.

I also did not suggest Michelin since you were not looking at soft compound tyres and were ready to adjust with the tyre noise.

From my experience A-Drives are good , i feel confident driving at 80kmph even during heavy rains. A-drives are much better than Apollo's and Bridgestone's. C-Drives are wet specific tyres , it will perform even better than A-Drives.

So what is the price for which you got it?

yes i am convinced it will be better than A drives and the symmetric nature helps it give a much better wet performance.
This is for a 205/65 R15.

I can already feel a significant improvement in grip levels and comfort, will write more after a long weekend drive which is upcoming.

Have spent over 400kms on new Yoko C-drives in a mix of highway/expressway and city driving and i must say i am thoroughly impressed with its handling and ride quality.

OEM NCTs are completely rubbish in comparison, mine was a good year. Also the upsize is perfect and gives no problems whatsoever (apart from offcourse the minor speedo error now).

I did a max of 135 kmph just to get a feel of the tyre on the expressway on an empty stretch and it felt completely planted including curves, the grip levels are phenomenal and the tyres dont screech on tight bends at reasonable speeds.
By no means i would suggest u try that speed , i only wanted to check the tyre performance that too for a very short burst - its simply not safe no matter which car it is and u are out of your mind to be speeding on an expressway(including me for the above 30 secs )

Havent had a chance to test it in wet yet, but i am told c drives are fantastic in wet.
Also FE differences is currently being monitored and will be reported after a couple of tankful to tankful tests.
