Addition to road rules:-

For goods carriers which carry stuffs longer than their body length and the stuffs hang out of the vehicle body from rear:-

Whenever any goods carriage vehicle, either truck, van or any three wheeler carry long stuffs like sheets, rods etc whose lengths are bigger than the vehicle length and hang outside the body from rear, a RED CLOTH should be tied at the hanging end of the stuff so that the drivers who are driving behind should notice the end of the stuff, which is getting out of the vehicle's body and determine the exact distance between their vehicle and the hanging stuff's end.It will reduce fatal accidents in case of sudden brakings in traffic.[:)]
This is new to me. I have noticed cloth hanging on the front wondow panes. Does that fulfill the same purpose?

That's nice information AHI, but what about these trucks? You can see many in UP region. [;)] Such over loaded trucks should be strictly banned by government because they are a Big moving hazard for everyone.

No bro,its different.Whenever a vehicle is driven in real emergency suppose bound for hospital with a serious casualty or something like that, they put the red cloth on the Driverside ORVM to mention the situation to other drivers and get themselves considered.

Which one I have mentioned its a serious issue in heavy traffic roads.because without that a driver is unable to find out upto which extent the stuff is hanging out of the front vehicle's back as it looks like a 2D vision, and he cant keep safe distance. When there is sudden brake applied by the front vehicle, reaction time is less and the stuff- whatever it is,sometimes long iron rods, get into the front windscreen or radiator or engine of the rear vehicle, which fatal sometimes causing death also.So it should be maintained on all roads by load carriers and should be reminded to them by others on the road,if they are not using the RED CLOTH

YES Vibhor, you are right its a serious issue, not only in UP, but I have seen similar attempts here in WB also.Even an incident happened 2 months back on the durgapur highway that a similar type of loaded truck was passing by a maruti omni, suddenly due to a hump on the road surface it tipped over and went over the omni and the omni got crushed, all 6 people died in that incident [cry].What a tragedy, just for the negligence of few illiterate people a whole family was demolished.

Yes AHI i have seen many trucks having that red cloth hanging to the goods at the rear.

That truck posted by 350Z , i have seen few trucks like that. Overtaking those trucks is highly difficult especially on single lane village roads![anger]

Hello Saurav,

Welcome to the Automotive India. Coming to your question - Well, doing any unlawful activity publicly which goes against the society is certainly not legal by any means, now be it in India or elsewhere in the world. Though it’s a different matter altogether that there are not many who follow this, like drinking and driving.

I travel by NH-7 regularly (Bangy - Hyd expressway). These truk-ricks and village bikers keep coming down the wrong side of the road, opp. to us in cars. These monkeys are a curse.

hi!!
Just curious to know, is drinking and walking on the roadside legal here in india.. not driving but just walking on the footpaths.
You can't say it to be legal.
But the [gun]drunkard is creating menace on the roads.
Risking his life which he is not aware of.
And crossing the roads are really dangerous, creating menace to the drivers on road.
Which creates lot of accidents.

I have seen many drunkards crossing the roads abruptly on Mysore highway, Where all of sudden from no where tries to cross the road .
And they were lucky enough for a near hit miss.

Traffic rules

Some rules has passed for road safety like don't use your mobile phone while driving, belt up in the back, don't drink and drive, always adhere to speed limits. Maximum road accidents happens due to violation of these rules.
