Hi all,
I need urgent help. I had booked a Hyundai i10 automatic car and the dealer told me that the vehicle is ready. I had booked the car only a week back and i wasn't expecting an auto trans to arrive in a week's time. The VIN number the dealer provided was MALAN51CMBM051091. Could someone help to decode the manufacturing month and year from above VIN number.

I need an advice., One of my friend booked toyota etios diesel VD model but The dealer read Nippon Toyota insists that they can't formally allow us VIN / chassis no or a PDI until get temporary registration! ., what to do ? trust them??

^^^ that dealer is Bs. He must be trying to sell an old batch and dont want customers to know that. Look elsewhere or shoot a complaint to toyota india

I just checked with the salesman. He gave me a slightly different number. The VIN number is MALAN51CMBM015091. Pls help to decode. Sorry for the trouble.

Thanks Diwesh for decoding MALAN51CMBM015091.

The dealer told me the car allotted for me (Hyundai i10 sportz AT crystal white) was manufactured on 30th October 2011. But as per the decoded VIN it seems to be 21/9/2011. When i asked the salesman for form 22, he said form 22 will be given only when you invoice the car. I suspect he is not sure of form 22.

Could someone advice if i should take delivery of this vehicle. It's two and half months old. Probably it was lying in the yard at a different branch. The car arrived at the dealer from factory in a week after i had booked.

This is my first car and any guidance would be really appreciated.

As long as the car is passing Pre-Delivery Inspection, it shouldn’t be a major issue of concern. There’s also a fair enough scope for bargain in such cases when both the conditions are in your favour (Old manufacturing date and year end). But since the dealer ordered the car only after you had booked it, I doubt whether he will agree.

Thanks 350Z,

I took new car delivery yesterday FORD FIGO EXI 1.2

Online decoder showed it as June 2011, . Car looked new and fresh and also I made some basic checks on car for dents and damages but looked neat.

so have i been cheated? ODO showed 85 KMS. before delivery. please help.......
