Got a chance to day to visit Chevy's Sail-UVA, it was nice, spacious in all the aspects(front seats, rear seats and boot space), the most fascinating thing is the price of diesel which starts from 6.50 Lakhs OTR Bangalore, there are less features i agree, but much better than Vista and Ritz in most of the aspects.Chevy has rightly priced the product. The only sore point is that the GC is low and interiors doesn't look good with the current color theme which is same as in the Sedan version too.

Price-list for Bangalore:

Edit: In the specs sheet the power out-put of the MJD is 78BHP as opposed to the 75BHP in the rivals.

GM India to launch a base diesel variant of Chevrolet Sail U-VA this month

In order to make the Sail U-VA more accessible to those customers in the lower band of the B Segment, GM India has come up with a new entry-level variant of the diesel version.
The base Sail U-VA diesel would cost Rs. 5.29 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) which undercuts Swift LDI’s price of Rs. 5.58 lakhs. The entry level Sail U-VA would be having its equipment level at par with that of the base petrol variant which lacks an audio system, keyless entry, rear wiper and defogger, leather and chrome appointments, airbags, ABS and EBD.
The price of the new variant has already been updated in GM India’s official website. Our sources say that GM India would launch this variant in 2-3 weeks.

This will eat into Chevy Beat's sales for sure.

If the sales person is good at his job, he can make the customer who comes in to pick a mid variant Beat to go for U-VA mid variant.

Chevrolet has added a base variant to the Sail UV-A diesel line-up called the Sail PS.

The entry level Sail U-VA PS comes with the basic comfort features such as front power windows, electrically operated wing mirrors, air conditioner, tilt steering and fabric seats. Standard safety features include ABS with EBD.

Power comes from the 1.3-litre Fiat sourced diesel engine which is mated to the F17 gearbox with ratios tuned specifically for India. The Sail UV-A PS is priced at Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It undercuts the Swift LDi pricing by around Rs 30,000.

I had the opportunity to test drive the Sail Petrol Sedan, while it was a very brief drive, my early impressions are its quite underpowered, while its aesthetically ok for the segment the 1.2 ltr engine did feel puny.

Chevrolet Sail registers 7,000 bookings in India

GM India claims that the Sail sedan has managed to clock over 7,000 bookings in just a couple of months from the launch. That comes as a huge relief for the car maker since the Sail U-VA’s sales performance has been abysmal. The sedan outnumbered the hatchback by twofold since the time it went on sale.

Chevrolet Sail records 7,000 bookings

Chevrolet’s Sail saloon is off to a good start as the manufacturer has recorded over 7,000 bookings since the car's launch on February 1, 2013.

The tepid response to the Chevrolet U-VA late last year has led Chevrolet to revisit its pricing strategy and it has priced the saloon very competitively. The petrol variants are priced from Rs 4.99 – 6.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the diesel variants are on offer from Rs 6.29 – 7.51 lakh. The Sail saloon is powered by a 79bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel motor.

While styling may not be radical, the Sail saloon is quite pleasing to look at. The split grille with the bowtie emblem links the new saloon to the rest of the Chevy range. The car looks quite smart from the rear, thanks to its near-vertical tail section. Available in seven colour options, the Sail saloon comes with a 3 year/1, 00,000km warranty and 5 year/50,000km warranty on the powertrain. Chevrolet has no plans to launch an automatic variant anytime soon.

However, the Honda Amaze is set to launch on April 11 and could throw up some serious competition to the Chevrolet Sail and its other main competitor, the Maruti Dzire.
