dear karthikkrish i did the same route till wayanad last november. my suggestion-
11 jan 5am start from chennai 12 noon bangalore - lunch stop
1.30 pm start to mysore 5 pm mysore - by 9 pm manathawadi- overnight stay
12 jan wayanad tour.
13 7am start for coorg ( boys town - kottiyoor - iritty - virajpet - madikeri 125 kms ) by 12 you will be in madikeri. local sight seeing.
14 visit golden temple, then to mysore, reach by 3 pm- local sights. over night stay.
15 back to chennai.
the roads till mysore is good. the road from mysore to gundalpet is 2 lane with lots of patch works but no potholes.the road from gunadalpet to sulthan battery- the bandipur section has big humps every kilometer - so no speeding possible.the road from wayanad till the border is average. the section till virajpet is perennialy bad.
when asking for info on the road ask to auto drivers they will guide you better.

Thanks Doctor, I have one question, do you think one day is enough for site seeing?

This Question was raised by Highway Ranger, BTW, my wife is closely following this thread and she too worried about this..

It will be difficult to cover all the spots in a day, because all are scattered and away from one another. You can open the link down and see anything is there useful to you though its an old TL

ideally one day won't be enough to see wayanad. if you want to spend more time in wayanad stay there on 12 th & 13th. leave for coorg on 14 th and leave for chennai on 15th with seeing mysore enroute. if you are comfortable driving at night is an option or skip coorg for a later trip.

It also depends upon your interest. What is the purpose of your trip? Nature? Temples? wildlife? A place we might want to spend 3 days in would be just a drive through for another.

You have to bear in mind that most waterfalls may not be in full glory this time of the year. The same applies for lakes and water bodies.

Please research/google the tourist spots in Waynad and Coorg for more info for the best time to visit.

I have very little experience in driving in night.

Now, I am thinking of your advice of skipping one place for later trip.[:)]

This leads to another BIG Question which one to skip? Wayanad or Coorg?

Waynad for sure.
Reason - Waynad needs more time to explore.
Mysore to Coorg , the road conditions are excellent.Just 1-2 hr journey from Mysore to reach Kushalnagar/coorg (90KM?)

You can cover many places in Mysore and have a pleasant stay in Coorg.

Enjoy the trip than just driving day and night. Enjoy the Vacation than adding more places to your visited list.

I understood that in my Ooty & Yercaud trip. In Ooty, I was more interested in going to all places and was exhausted at the end. In Yercaud, I did not even visit lake but the stay was excellent. Always there is a second time !

Dear All, Thanks for your suggestion.

I have come to a conclusion of dropping Coorg for next vacation (Thanks Smooth Rider & Highway Ranger), BTW, decided Wayand on seeing AR Ram Travelogue.

With marathon shopping skills my wife will not get exhausted, but I will. appus, yes I don't want to get exhausted, thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks generalmax & smooth ride, I have just altered your plan.

Day 1: Chennai to Mysore (stay in Mysore)
Day 2: Mysore to Wayanad (stay in Wayanad)
Day 3: Wayanad (stay in Wayanad)
Day 4: Wayanad to Mysore (stay in Mysore)
Day 5 : Mysore to Chennai.

BTW, Booked a resort in Wayanad, searching for good hotel in Mysore. [:)]
