I have used JK, bridgestone and Goodyear. Bridgestone is the best, no sounds, great grip and suspension friendly, no puncture, only last 35000kms, good year is good last more but awful noise of road comes when driving. JK is the worst , We have JK as OEM that lasted for 15000 with giving pain.

Re: Car Tyre Brands and Reviews.

The first car i drove was Indica Xeta that came with almost new Pirelli P3000 175/70 R13
I was a novice about all the stuff. Later on, I realised the size was wrong for indica. Anyway, next thing that always struck me was tire noise.

People used to say on forums, my tires are noisy, this & that and i would wonder what they say?
I never heard tyres making noise until they skid which one would never do under normal conditions.

Two years later, Pirelli's were replaced with Accelere ( not Apollo) some Indonesian brand with ISI mark since i was going to sell the car soon and they came economical.
Oh man, what a transition, Now I came to know about tyre noise. Totally Opposite and much like everyone else.

I was surprised how good were these Pirelli's
they were noiseless, softer rubber with better cushioning in ride with very good grip.

At this point, I know what people say.
Later I got chance to test Bridgestone Turanza ER60, B250 , S322, Goodyear Duraplus on other cars.
But none came close to the comfort, noiseless levels.

No Product is perfect, The Pirelli's were too soft that they lasted 30K kms.
Moreover, one of them got sidewall damage whilst hitting a pothole at parking speeds.

Right now, I am keen on testing Michelins, perhaps they can come closer to Pirellis.

Re: Car Tyre Brands and Reviews.

My Alto had MRF zvts (stock tyres tube type) and it lasted for 51k kms. I replaced with Bridgestone S250 (tube type) and after 8K kms it still looks new. But noise has certainly increased with new tyres and its little annoying when you drive with windows down. My brother is using it now.

My Fiesta has GoodYear Eagle tyres (stock) and it is doing decent job even after 21K kms.

Re: Car Tyre Brands and Reviews.

I did my first tyre upgrade on my Hyundai I10. Upgraded to Michelin XM2 175/70 R13. The ride and handling was enhanced to a great extent - the new tyres inspire a great deal of confidence at higher speeds as compared to the stock tyres!! The tyres got a bit noisier though, but I would attribute that to the tyre size upgrade I made. When I sold my I10 it had done 15k kms with the new tyres and looked good for a long haul.

I got Yokohama AVS DB (V550) fitted to my current Toyota Innova. They are very silent tyres and offer a supremely comfortable ride. The only issues is it has a very soft sidewall, I had to do away with one tyre already due to a sidewall slit after brushing a sharp edged stone. I will not blame the tyre construction entirely, but in Indian condition one is better off with slightly stiffer sidewalls especially for a bigger vehicle like Innova. The tyres have done 25k kms and they have seemed to wear out rather quick, I am already looking at getting new set of tyres!! If comfort is your requirement Yokohama AVS DB are excellent, but be prepared to compromise on tyre life.

Thats my two cents on experiences I have had with Tyres on my cars [;)]

Re: Car Tyre Brands and Reviews.

hi guys im planning to buy facelifted sunny.planning to put michelin xm2 tyres as the stock tyres are JKs even on the top XV model.
I asked Travancore Wheel club(Michelin authorized dealer) in trivandrum and they quoted me Rs.5600/tyre for 185/65/R15 and Rs.5900/tyre for 195/60/R15. They can take the brand new JKs for Rs.2200/tyre.They told except JKs all other brand tyres they can give 500 less than MRP as JK is difficult to move out of shelf. They also told to keep one stock tyre as spare tyre as 185/65/R15 and 195/60/R15 are almost the same size.Could you please help me out whether this price for Michellin and JK are ok?I will be changing the tyres as soon as i bring it out of the showroom.

Note to Admin.I already asked this question in face lifted sunny section. The thread seems to be less active.

If I remember right, for my Ertiga, I paid 12k in all to exchange 4 stock (Goodyear) tires for Michelin PLC which were priced around 5,500 one year back (buy back price of 2,500 per tire for Goodyear).. Looks like tire prices have gone up. But exchange price will vary from shop to shop and brand to brand. 2200 for JK looks fine to me.

if i am not wrong primacy LC is expensive than XM2 right?Correct me if i am wrong. Are you feeling any difference in ride quality after changing to michees? My priority is more on comfort and a balance in handling.Rarely go for long trips.

Re: Car Tyre Brands and Reviews.

Absolutely Ajay.

Difference is noticeable from 2 fronts - the ride is completely silent and the quality of ride also significantly improved. You are right - PLC is expensive among the 2. However, currently Primacy LC is not available and 3ST is the replacement model.

After noticing the difference, I have been advocating all my friends also replace tires immediately upon purchase. It is well spent money - when compared to many of the cosmetic upgrades.

Re: Car Tyre Brands and Reviews.

Has anyone used performance tyres by Apollo under the brand name Vredestien? My Skoda Superb I bought second hand was fitted with Potenza G3 (first owner ran 12k kms before selling the vehicle), I have done 37k kms since I bought the vehicle early this year and tyres look good for replacement.

I have shortlisted following tyres-
1. Michelin Primacy 3ST 205/55 R16 (heard these are made for Asia region considering the road conditions on offer here and are very silent tyres)
2. Vredestien ULTRAC CENTO 205/55 R16 : Heard good reviews by Skoda drivers abroad. I am asking ownership feedback via tyre dealers in Mumbai. Appreciate if I can get feedback from forum members who might have used these tyres in India!! [;)]

Re: Car Tyre Brands and Reviews.

Finally changed the tires on my Dec. 2010 Ford Figo at Madhus Enterprises, Bangalore today. I have upgraded from 175/65R14 to 195/55R15 on stock Tata Manza rims. The only brands with this size were Yoko S-drive and Conti CPC2. The other option I had was 185/65R14. The staff (Mr.Ravi) was very helpful. Couldn't get to meet Nikhil though. I chose Conti CPC in 195/55R15 for INR 5600/- per tire. Plus INR 700/- for WB&WA. I have retained my stock rims for sometime in case I run into trouble. My spare is still 175/65R14 Goodyear Assurance. I hope that will not be a problem in case of a puncture. I also hope to upgrade to 15" alloys at a later date.
New continental CPC2, only 3 days old and have picked up a puncture already. That too near the shoulder so mushroom patch could not be put and ordinary plug used. Am very sceptical. The first sign of worn tires for me is puncture susceptibility.
Hope it is just bad luck. Can't afford to throw 23k into the drain. Any comments and/or advice would be welcome.

Re: Car Tyre Brands and Reviews.

Friends, Has anyone used/using MRF ZLO (185/70/R14). My Nissan Sunny has completed 37k in 3 years on it's MRF ZV2K stock tyres. Tyres are still in good condition (just one puncture) and expecting to last beyond 50k. I still have 1 year/12k to replace it, but started researching.

AFAIK, traditionally MRFs are hard and gives stiff ride, but I read in many reviews that ZLO is softer and gives better ride quality.

Also, please suggest other options, my priority is soft ride and life around 45k (city driving mainly).
