Can FIAT Re-Establish Itself in India?

I think FIAT have got it all wrong , in terms of pricing , positioning and specing their cars.
ENGINES: we all know that fiat have got amazing diesel engines, but they went ahead and launched LINEA with 1.3 lt engine, really?And what was result people found linea to be underpowered, had they launched 1.6 lt multijet from word go and priced and positioned linea against Verna rather than dezire they could have sold a million lineas till now,still i say its not too late Fiat please bring 1.6 jtd in linea as quickly as possible and trust me you are back in the game big time.

Now lets talk about Punto, this is the best hatchback (apart from space) that money can buy, but fiat again goof up the whole situation by not putting 90 hp multijet in all trims, and they put old palio gearbox in punto which is the only drawback in a great car, if fiat puts linea gearbox with better tuning and price it a little closer to Vista still it will sell like hot cakes.

All Signors at FIAT are you listening.

absolutely right 1.6 linea with 16''wheels belting out 120 or 130bhp man that would be very impressive would give the vento's, verna's cruz, a run for their money

Even if they did ,how they are going to price it? For the present scenario anything above 10 lakh is suicide for fiat unless it can fly.1.6 mjd is gem of a diesal heart.

So I think Point_city you need not be worried.

Even if they did what are we going to loose...? rather we can be proud of it.(we means Fiat lovers)

I think fiat have definitely started thier comeback really well by introducing two amazing rides in the name of linea and punto!But they should come out of the tata and should go for independent fiat outlets!way to go fiat.

In my views,the steps Fiat should take are as follows:
1):Get parted from Tata and open its independent dealerships across the country,and yes,this should be done within a month.Just like VW did,it had set up its dealerships quite fast.
2):Advertising:This is something Fiat must take care of,I rearely find any pleasing ads of Fiat cars on TV or in newspapers.
3):Spare parts availability is a very big issue with Fiat and is needed to be sorted out soon.
4):Cars like Linea T-Jet and Punto 90 hp must be highlighted for those who seek performers.
5):Linea needs a more powerful 1.6 MJD(I think that engine develops 110 bhp) alongside with the 1.3 MJD.So it can fetch two type of customers.
6):PUNTO TOO NEEDS A T-JET.I don't know about other,but I want a T-Jet inside the Punto.JUST LIKE THE POLO/FABIA 1.6.

Not an easy task.What if the newly formed ASS is not great.Is vw ASS great?

I found the current ones as good,but not great like some tata ads.I think the discount showing ads have done some impact as I have seen quiet a number of new registered puntos last two months in Kannur.

Already done I think.

Putting a 1.6 mjd means increased price tag.Fiat India I think will also need to invest in linea which is not selling greatly to bring out this 1.6 mjd heart.Let the current linea pick some pace.Think about the effect of Linea T-Jet on linea sales till today.

I think i Punto with Linea's(India) Tjet heart would cost more than 90hp diesel punto.The price of petrol isn't cheap either.Mind you,the 1.6polo/fabia is actually cheaper than their diesel siblings.

If present Punto's were tuned to be road blaze'rs there are still chances.

Present offers from Fiat stable is such that one can live without all of them. like ride quality,tough built,precise steering,blue n me etc.

What needed is Fiat should come up with something irresistible like a 26kmpl FE, or 0-100 in 10sec kind of unique and unbeatable product at lower price tag.(though It is big challenge, but matter of survival too.)
Then only it can gain some respects in the crowd.Otherwise present product is just a compromise for money pinchers as well as enthusiasts and neither of them could appreciate just a compromise.
