@ Jarpickle, Yes, turning the zen is like turning a truck! :-)
@ Sam - 2007/8 DLE, are you referring to Indica or Logan.
I think there may be some problem with your Zen's Steering. We had a98 model zen which my brother was using. When we feel the steering become tight, we inform the ASS while giving for service and they do greasing. After the service we feel the steering is very light.
We had a 97 model 800 Dx with old type steering. It feel almost same like PS when we drive after driving Wagon R with PS.

It is light at driving speeds, but in tight corners and in limited parking space it is like parking a truck compared to newer cars.

People with new steering columns and rack and pinions in their 800 don't feel like it is with PS when they try to park.

Believe me we have done a lot of stuff to the 800 to know what it is really like. Why do you think Varun is in the process of fitting a PS in his 800?Atleast the MPfi 800's will have some relief once Varun finishes this project.

^ In limited parking space, zen is little difficult to park compared to other cars with PS.
In Varun's 800, he is using bulky tire compared to 800's stock 145/70-12. So steering response will be different.

Even in a new car with stock ply tires, parking was difficult in my car.I remember my dad wrestling with the steering.

Varun isn't using bulky tires, they are just wide but at the same time less tall.Which infact should help in better handling and not poor handling.

I don't feel the steering is hard even after having 165's. But in tight parking its a horrible situation where you cant move the car but need to steer.

Add to this, if you have full load (4people) then its literally a truck.

What Jarpickle said is true, with a new steering rack atleast for few months it is felt like a PS.

Lets see how the PS project will make the difference and whats worth out of the money and time spent on it.

@ Releesh - to clarify, I can move my steering wheel with a single finger.
It is not tight but what we are talking about is having to turn the steering wheel back & forth which doesn't happen with PS.
@ Varun - I also want PS in my
Zen!

We shall try to get PS in your car, first let my project finish then we could test it.

If it is reliable then we can go for it.

@ Varun- how many posts before I get 3 stars/pro & you get 4 stars?
@ Relquo - The Figo has low FE, slows down when AC is on, power windows for front 2 windows only. A modern car with no air bags & hydraulic power steering? The designer of this car should be spanked! However the Swift is a winner & I may settle down with this car.
@ Sam - the pathetic condition of the used cars that I have seen made me realize just how much better my zen is. So may keep her & experiment with other models ;-) until I find the one I want to settle down with[lol].

ZenandEnfield:Don't say the Figo has low FE.Figoian will hear you [lol]

A lot of other Figos according to Figoian himself are returning higher FE.

@ Sam - just passed 100 post, when will I get 3 stars?
Really Sam, I think that sometimes the dots have meaning & less editing is better.
Just sayin'..
