@Cool: I will have to go in for whatever my dad gets.
Will be one of these:
1. Fiesta
2. DZire
3. SX4.
I hope we get an SX4, if not, Fiesta.
@Archit: Like the Indigo, it will be provided by the office for personal use.

I'm beginning to feel the Polo 1.6 is a better option than the i20 opt.
+ Points of the Polo - Powerful engine, exclusivity, better looking, interiors not similar to the i20, german engineering.
+Points of the i20 - 4 airbags extra, more features, service might be cheaper, resale might be better.

Hmmm VW dealership in Bangalore must not be a problem. But still the maintenance costs and re-sale value are good points to be considered while purchase and i20 scores over Polo here. And hey the interiors of i20 are not bad either. But still Polo is not a bad choice either!

IMO

i20- VFM
Polo-Exclusivity

Hey, the Polo's interiors have the character and simplicity that the i20's doesn't, IMO. I've to research a bit about maintenance & resale. What's the use of resale when one (me) doesn't completely like a car?

Yeah, I'm looking at the 1.6, not the 1.2!!! We don't want to have another 3 cyl..
Besides, it will cost us just about Rs 6.5 lakh including some acessories, as dad doesn't have to pay road tax.

so many confusions will direct to nowhere..you are just changing decsions to what ever you liking .. it better to leave on your elders who will have to pay final money and can look all points in car after driving..no offence.

Well, it is my elders, who in spite of having 4 cars right now, want to get another car for my convenience. In fact, they bought the M800 and i10 thanks to me. It is they who are taking my advice and guidance. I suggested the Jazz, and warned of the low end torque. After the TD, my dad felt our i10 is better in terms of performance. So it is now back to i20 vs. Polo. 2 reasons are pulling my advice towards the Polo-
1. The i20 is rather similar to the i10.
2. The i20 looks a bit fussy compared to the Polo.
3. The Polo's performance has the upper hand, and ever since we got the i10, dad's sort of become an enthusiastic driver, seeking performance, from the back seat driver he was used to being ever since we got our drivers.

He seems to agree with most of my points, and the Final decision will be taken after TDing the 1.6, and the i20 again, over the weekend.

Its not fair to compare i20 with 1.L engine with Polo with 1.6L engine.
If your started liking driving, go for Polo 1.6, other wise Jazz is better choice on other front.

My parents were not impressed by the Jazz. In fact they say our i10 is better in some aspects!
Ours is a price wise, segment wise comparison. Nevertheless, I've already explained to my dad that the Polo's 1.6 engine easily smokes out the i20s 1.2, and now he's looking forward to TD it. Hope all goes well.

Yes so if all you want is performance then go in for the Polo but beware maintenance wont be as cheap as a Hyundai product.

On the other hand why not check out the 90BHP Punto also? And also check out the 1.4L i20 AT too , it must be a good performer!

I don't think dad (and grandad) will like an AT. That's why we bought the i10 MT instead of AT. Anyway, I shall tell him.
Punto? I shall ask him what he thinks. Might not be a got competitor to the Polo.

Yeah. The others are no match for the Polo's 105BHP powertrain.
I'm pretty sure dad will say "I don't want an AT" as soon as I tell him about the 1.4 i20. The diesel Asta is within our reach (7 lakh ex-Bangy) but then we don't need a diesel.
I've heard the Punto's rear bench ain't as good as its rivals, is this true?

Well then rule out the i20 , its better to narrow the choices always.

Check out the car yourselves to get an idea about Punto. Maybe RSM or other Punto owners can comment on the rear seats.

Even if its 15BHP lesser it is still a good performer and hey the 90BHP Punto is also available only in Diesel!
