Well Pravin that part that you mention is missing,is available at the local Tata Authorized Spares dealers/dealership, Just ask them for the Safari rear camera plastic holder(I dont exactly know what's it called but they will know) it will probable come in grey color(plastic) and you will have to paint it white.

For the missing part check at GP road / pudupet, it should be easily available.
BTW how is the handling at 3 digit speeds?

the handling is not composed as a hatch back. there is a no swaying to right or left while barking. sometime on uneven roads when not loaded, bounces like a ping ball. but on the same road with full 5 passengers and a bit of luggage they car was stable. to be safe on single roads, i kept it at 80 and only on highways i reach 100. yes will check with pudupet and gp road

hey guys with the turning radius being so big. i took it to sa to reduce it. here is the big issue. after the service centre guy did the job. there was hissing sound coming from both wheels when a full turn is made. the sa guy told me to bring the vechile tommorow as it's evening and he will make sure the work is done and also the steering feels very tight than before[frustration] guys what could be the reason?

the turning radius is a problem with safari. don't try to play with the settings. you have got the new tires for your safari?

2000 kms update

I have completed 2000 kilometers on my safari as of today. I will mention the positives and negatives of the car.

1. fuel consumption:
liters consumed: 138 liters
distance covered: 2014
mileage:14.59
highway driving 75% and city usage is 25%.
trips:
chennai- mahabalipuram
chennai- villupuram
chennai-viruddachalam
chennai-sulurpet
chennai-thada

2. positives: top class comfort, great air conditioner, good entertainment music systems, not even scraped belly once even in big speed breakers

3.negatives: handling isn't great, brakes are okay couldn't have been better, bounces like ping poll when not fully loaded on uneven roads, engine immobilizer fuse blown up twice. first time it was replaced by a local mechanic and next time i did it myself, remote locking works only when i'm close to the car. pics to follow soon.

3500 kilometers completed as of now after getting the car.

got a combined mileage of 14.3 in my recent trip to ooty. I opened the oil dip stick and found the oil is a bit less then the mark in dip stick. should i do a oil top up?

issues:
1. engine immobilizer fuse blow thrice but after fixed by service centre it's holding up nice.
2. the occasional rattling from rear door. it appears suddenly and vanishes altogether.

the vehicle is performing better. rock stable on bad roads. speed maintained is 90-100. once pushed it to 130.

As you've just completed 3500kms, dont worry about the lowish level of oil. See that there is no leakage and the level is not below min.

You can get the oil top-up or an oil change at 5000kms free service.

It's been a year since. The white elephant celebrates it's first year with us. I look back at this one year.

Got the car with 50k kms and current reading is 84,234. Nearly 32,000 kms in a year.the car is reliable as Rahul dravid(my favorite). In one year, the car has never let us down.

Due to high running engine oil is changed every 6000kms. Engine oil changed 5 times. In terms of maintenance, the safari hasn't cost me anything. Only once engine immobilizer fuse blown up.

lot of trips including business and vacations and at times the car has to carry steel rims from salem to chennai., rice bags and what not.

changed the duelers that were with the vehicle and now running on wanderer tyres.

worst mileage in highway: loaded to the brim with 5 people and a lot of steel rims and with AC on is 11.5

best is 17.2 without AC.

always mentioned speeds between 80-110.

top speed acheived is 170. did this nearly for a short burst for 11 times. everytime i make a note of it when top speed is acheived.

safe speed considering the dynamics and braking is 120.

positives:

1. Rock solid ride quality.
2. excellent highway machine.
3. sofa on wheels in seating.
4. can take on bad roads without a sweat.

negatives:

1. brakes were a bit let down. asked with fellow safari owners at the serivce center and they also shared the same.

I feel that this car is worth for the deal at 3.90 lakhs considering i have shortlisted wagon r and brio during the selection process.

planning to do a chennai- leh-manaili trip. trying to get the support from family members.

in the mean time, thought about buying strome lx as my dad wanted to get a car as first owner. the home emi's will be over by june 2015. I wish i would buy a tata stome lx/aria pure this year and retain my white elephant.

If i'm going to buy a new car it has to be a suv/uv and it will be from TATA MOTORS. In this 1 year of ownership, i would rate the service provided by tata as excellent and they were always on time and as promised.

Pics are not taken. The white elephant is serving it's duty in thrissur and will be back only on sunday.

you are welcome. I stay at porur. You can take the car for a drive too. Most of the times the car is in home town with dad/uncle/brother as they are into business. I do keep a eye on chennai meets but most of the time car is not here. Hope to see the chennai members soon.
