Tata Nexon.ev scores 5-Star Crash Test Rating from Bharat NCAP
The new Tata Nexon.ev has achieved a 5-star rating in the most recent round of Bharat NCAP crash test results. It scored 29.86 points out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.54 points out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP). Along with the Nexon.ev, the Indian automobile testing agency announced crash test results for the electric Punch, which also achieved a perfect 5-star rating. The safety suite of the Tata Nexon.ev includes all-wheel disc brakes, hill hold and descent control, auto-dimming IRVM, electronic stability control (ESC), six airbags, and a 360-degree camera. Mechanically, the electric SUV is available in two battery specifications: Long Range (LR) and Medium Range (MR). The former has a bigger 40.5kWh battery, while the latter boasts a smaller 30kWh battery. According to the ARAI, the MR and LR versions offer driving ranges of 325 and 465 kilometres, respectively, which is an improvement of about 12 kilometres above the previous figures.
In terms of performance, the LR version yields figures of 215Nm and 127bhp, while the MR version delivers 215Nm and 143bhp. It is essential to keep in mind that though power outputs are unchanged, the torque figure has decreased by 30Nm on the MR model and 38Nm on the LR variant.
The electric SUV is equipped with numerous amenities such as a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel, cruise control, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, Google and Alexa voice assistants, and a nine-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer. Notably, the most expensive models come with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen.
The Nexon electric is available in six variants: Creative+, Fearless, Fearless+, Fearless+ S, Empowered, and Empowered+. Its grille features a single-tone body colour, in contrast to the blacked-out grille of the petrol-powered model. The charging state of the EV is indicated by an LED light strip that runs the length of its nose. The e-SUV has a sportier appearance thanks to the new sequential LED DRL headlamp design and alloy wheels.
