Re: Body rust on mahindra bolero slx within 18months of purchase.

My bolero slx, reg no:- wb 44a o675, purchased on jan 2011, I am happy with its overall performance, but the heart fill with grief when it comes to build quality of the body material, my window got rusted within this short period of time, and whenever & whichever service station I went for complaint they had surrendered themselve since one year warranty is over and always suggest me to spend an approx amount of rs. 10k to get it mend. To mention that my garage is a concrete one and a person has been appointed from day one to keep the car clean on every day basis, I undergone all services as recomended and have all the documentations. I just like to have few questions 1. Is this car body life is only ment for a year within warranty, 2. Can you show me any other manufacturer whose car got rusted within 18 months of purchase (except mahindra, since I know quite some who was having such issues with mahindra and got shifted to other brands), 3. Is those service centres are only trained to fetch revenues rather than having satisfied customers, 4. Every service is followed by 3 - 4 customer feedback calls and in every calls I had been mentioning that but in vain, 5. Can I expect any remedy from company's end or I shall have to do it by myself and then shift to other brand/Manufacturer?????

Body rust on mahindra bolero slx within 18months of purchase. - Grahak Seva

Anyone here has contact with Tata higher ups? [;)] Suggest them to reduce the height and weight of the car and modify the front and the rear.
No need to have contact with higher ups, they have modified the looks in GRANDE sumo. Why to decrese the height ,it is still a good handler with that height.Other cars and 2/3 wheeler give respect and move sideways due to its dimensions not so with bolero IMO.
And reduction in height will immidietly make you concentrate on interior quality. Also reduction in height leads to discomfort for passengers during intracar movements. Eg.middle row middle passeger can alight the car without requiring side passeger to alight temporarily espesially during rainy season. Heavy luggage can be shifted in and out without any gymnastic skills.

Tata are already developing an under 4 meter UV,expect it to be much lesser in height and it will also come with modified looks.

Actually, reducing the height of a vehicle like Tata Sumo which is a full fledged people mover is not a good idea. The vehicle will start to feel claustrophobic for the middle row passengers. So its a good thing that GOLD is tall,IMHO.[:)]

@Xover: Actually I can't ask a dealer for TD unless I am really serious for buying a vehicle, and for the time being I don't have any Sumo Gold holder friend.Regards...
No problems buddy.BTW,what happened to your Xenon purchase?

Tremendous post.Added your reputation.

Vinu, just what tornado explained,Sumo is better as it is.It would be better for Tata to develop an all new vehicle than just botox and silicon on Sumo.

ah ha handling takes a new meaning here, then. No, people have enough head space in an Innova, and that car is half a foot short. The hummer has very little roof height, it still manages to 'scare' people. You may be happy with all these, for you they have Sumo DI. If Tata indeed wants people to buy Sumo Gold, they should start to do do something about the looks and dynamics. After all, that's what some people claim here, right? That Sumo is a personal car.

Looks can be changed , if they change the looks make it look for contemporary and stylish I for sure will buy 1 for my personal use .loved the torquey engine a lot .

I think Nobody is claiming anything here , but only posting what they have observed .

we have here on this very thread 3guys ,1 who has already booked it for its personal use and other 2 who are ready to buy . Vyasvivek , tornado ( not sure may or may not as it depends on his dads wish ) and , dr desai .
this is quite good example to understand that there are some people in india who do prefer the sumo gold as their personal car which some people find surprising .

@ Vinu, It is proven fact that lesser the height better is the handling.eg.f1 cars.

What I wanted to say is SUMOGOLD is a good handler inspite of height. I agree it is not the best handler like SUV, but SUMOGOLD is UV and not SUV. So utility value is more important than mere handling. So as to handle a car in a better way you need to have good view of front road, and sides ,which is definitely poor in BOLERO.

We are comparing this with Bolero-another UV-right? So, if they bring in some design changes, Gold might sell a bit more both as a UV and a personal car. Or they can retain the old model as one of their versions. As I see it, Tata are reluctant to design a new vehicle from scratch at this stage. The debacle of Grande / Aria seems to have shattered their confidence. That is my reading of their progress from Safari to Storme in spite of the latter being based on a different platform.

Hi
TML are in process of finalising sub 4 metre sumo gold to compete with Quanto anf other vehicles. Lets see how they will manage to do that. which engine they will use and what seating confuguration they will come up with.
My assumption is Engine 1.4 CR4 engine with fixed or VGT turbo having a power of around 70-80 BHP and 200 NM of torque. 5+2 jump seats length under 4 metres with a spare wheel on back door (15 inches wheel) Fuel average of around 17-19 KMPL.
These are mere assumptions and some info available on net

I think they should use all new X2 chassis, all new body and an all new monicker,so in whole they should look to launch an all new under 4meter UV,and not only a chopped version of Sumo.

If it's true that Tata are developing both the mini Sumo and Aria, I assume that with the former they are targeting the Thar. How good is Tata's own 1.4 l engine?

Tatas very own 1.4L engine is very capable as it has good grunt and very frugal in fuel efficency (25KMPL for Indigo Cs and Indica Ev2)

@s class, My father has told me to research on sumogold , bolero, used safari and used grande as a replacement for his wagonr.
I saw the usage, its quite rough & person of 6 ft means Bolero is cramped. Hence, the best bet would be Tata Gold, then Grande MK2. I will drop Safari as interiors will be spoilt & seeing your use, doesn't make much sense to opt for safari, that too by paying more.
However, I doubt how many Sumo golds will be there in resale market as of now. [thinking]

It is not that Tata had not begun from a scratch in the past eg.indica , Safari , Sumo itself and many more.If we open early pages of TML history, we'll find only scratches and scrathes.
Tatas are manufactuers and providers and buyers of many things right from salt, tea, watches, telecommunications, hospitality, jaguars, electricity insurance and what not , all utility items .
So calling it a ' debacle' of Grande Sumo and Aria ,just on the basis of low sales figure is not fair, both cars are good if not best. Only problem is tatas are not good vendors. Ours is a unwieldy country , one needs to shout so as to get the good things done. Tata doesn't know or doesn't want to shout , and doesn't know how to make the car customers to shout about tatas good things.
If we just go by sales figures and not by worthiness of a product, then best UV was firodiyas trax, erstwhile ruler of uv s, design of which seems.to be borrowed from highschool level annual science exhibition, and then comes the rust. What a waste of oxygen!
