Ok. So Day 2 had the minimum distance to cover. But my GPS device messed up all. It made me cover about 100 kms extra. Complete reliance on a GPS device isn't always a good idea. We reached Nanded at around 2130 hrs. Only after some spirited driving. Day 3 had maximum distance to be cover, close to 1000 kms. But we woke up late and could start only by 0530 hrs. We took Nanded Solapur Bijapur Chitradurga Bangalore road. Lots of toll roads. I was expecting to reach before midnight. But all was spoiled by a traffic jam near Tungbhadra dam. My ETA came up to 0530 hrs, 15th morning. After jam cleared, some more spirited driving and ETA came down to 0230 hrs. But then I started feeling sleepy. So pulled out and parked at a petrol pump. Slept for about 2 hrs and reached home at around 0500 hrs.
Surprisingly I did 2180 kms, less than onward journey! nce again I would say, total dependence on GPS device isn't a good idea.
Overall, the trip was OK. I thank god for bringing us back home safe and sound. Our Manza bore all the brunt of the bad and very bad roads. The sound of tyres and rattles was scary on those bad roads. And sudden thuds from potholes (even after being watchful, I couldn't avoid atleast a dozen of them). But as someone else has mentioned I too felt glad when Manza became super quiet once again, when back on good roads.
Some of the stretches of the roads were deserted. And while driving through these area, I thought crept in my mind, What if my car breaks down here? Luckily our car kept on going without a single trouble. Yet another extremely happy and satisfied Manza owner. After getting so much of beating, I would get her wheels aligned. I am sure it would have gone bad after doing such bad roads.
In general, I would say, out of the states I covered, Karnataka roads are far better. But as you come closer to Bangalore, speed breakers' size start increasing. Even on expressways!! They are made to kill. If you're not careful, you might break your car's suspension, or your back bone. When I pay huge amounts for using toll ways, I should be able to drive fast without any speed breakers. Overall, I paid Rs 1690 as toll. If any town or village comes in way, they should not merge directly on the toll way. My opinion.
Chhatisgarh has good roads (much better than before). One funny thing you will notice in Chhatisgarh is that every other SUV owner is Secretary, Member, President, etc of a political party or any organisation. And he has the right to put this in BOLD in place of number plate. And he is not required to put the front number plate at all. And the cars should have roof mounted fog lamp cluster. Even Altos have that.
Tata sales figures might not be promising, but looking at the number of Vistas in Maharashtra and Chhatisgarh, we might need to change our opinion. They have so many of them. There are Vistas and Vistas everywhere.
Jharkhand roads are good and awful at the same time. They are good at most of the stretch. You are lured to drive fast. And all of a sudden a big pothole will come, ready to engulf you.
Will upload fotos soon.
