Microsoft is hosting a press event at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona as we type this. Joe Belfiore, the company’s manager for Windows Phone, announced that the next OS update - presumably Windows Phone 8.1 - would officially arrive this spring, on both existing, and new devices.

The next iteration of Windows Phone will no longer require three buttons on the front of devices, instead coming with support for on-screen buttons. Another major addition is support for dual SIM capabilities - this means that the rumored dual SIM Nokia Lumia 630 could be launched soon after WP 8.1 is released. Microsoft worked with Qualcomm for a seamless dual SIM integration with Windows Phone. There will also be new Qualcomm chips supported, including the Snapdragon 400 and Snapdragon 200, both being perfect for ultra-cheap smartphones.

The new version of Windows Phone will allow us to store apps on MicroSD cards - great news for devices with low *memory.

The rumored Cortana voice assistant was not mentioned by*Joe Belfiore, but that doesn't mean it won't come to WP soon.

An exact release date for the Windows Phone 8.1 update was not revealed, but "this spring" should mean in March, April, or May the latest. We’ll bring more on this as soon as we have new details.

Facebook has reportedly announced that it would be soon launching its Messenger chat app on Windows Phone.

Facebook messaging is already active on Microsoft's OS for mobiles, however, the latest chat app would offer more features including 'stickers.'

According to The Verge, Facebook Messenger has been available on Android and iOS for several years, but it would now be 'soon' extended to the Windows Phone platform.
The social networking giant recently acquired popular messaging service WhatsApp , which boasts of 450 million monthly users, for an eye popping 19 billion dollars, in a bid to expand its user base.

[cheers] to all current & future WP users.

Today at its Mobile World Congress event, Nokia announced that BlackBerry Messenger will be released in the “coming months” for its Windows Phone devices.

At first, BBM will be exclusive to Nokia’s Lumia devices but will likely be released for all Windows Phone devices after the first six months, just like previous Lumia exclusives.

Now that Nokia X has been announced. Does it make sense to go ahead with a Lumia 525? Found this insightful comparison on a website. (Source: Link)

350z if you want a decent android, go for moto G. No point going for a half baked android product from nokia which may not even see any development in future and these android phones may be last throw of dice by nokia before M$ takes over nokia's phone development.

I’m inclined towards Lumia 525. OS is not a concern. Just willing to try something new, so considering Windows for around 10K budget. My primary usage is calls / net browsing.

L525 would be perfect for a change, and the big screen would be ideal for browsing.

Let us know what deal you get. [clap]

I agree with nitin. You should buy moto g. Prive difference is 2000rs on flipkart. And what you get is bigger screen + HD display + quad core. Rest of the specs are similar.
