Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

Yes it is bit sad if they discontinue the name Nokia, but if a phone is named with "Microsoft" then just think of its popularity[:)]

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

Guys, again a problem.
The phone won't boot, instead it shows a sad smiley. I heard that only hard reset is going to fix it. But that'd erase everything right?
Really really disappointed with this phone. Should have got the 820 instead.
Thinking about selling(most probably won't) it. But is there any alternate phone that is not Chinese? How much will I get for 720? Everything is fine, no scratches and even the SAR sticker at the back is not yet removed.

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

I had bought an HTC Pico for my wife. She did not allow me to root/touch it. She gets random reboot at times. (More than 1 year so no warranty). It keeps saying - Memory full. So, it is just not Windows, you do get problems in other OS as well. only two three apps installed.

@edios bro,
You do not keep a backup of contacts etc synced with outlook/hotmail account ?
I do it on my android with google account as I used to load different roms.
I do not know whether the whole data get wiped in Windows phone. In android, it does not wipe the memory card unless you say so.
If you have a memory card inside, why dont you copy that thru a card reader before experimenting ? Or are you talking about the built in memory ?

And, I agree with RK on that saying.

issue is 90 MB storage which the phone has. you need to install the apps and move media etc to the sd card instead of internal storage. change the camera settings so that photos get stored to the sd card.

I bought it full hearted. But I wasn't expecting these kind of issues.
BTW, I think I've said you that it was bought even without checking out in stores, I had full confidence on it.

Could you say how much I'll get for this phone?
And which phone would perform equally to this phone? I.e there should be no lag at all!

Lol, it isn't my phone. Also I didn't at all expect this to happen!

BTW it seems that the phone is crying after it came to know that Nokia has been sold to Microsoft.[lol]

The thing is that if it was a Droid, I could have revived it without losing the data. [;)]

exactly.
even if it was in a semi dead state, it could have been brought back to life.
max time taken 5 minutes

but then for the lumia, it has to be taken to the company , who will repair it in their own sweet time.

time saved anybody [;)]

expect something around 12 to 15 k. depends upon the effort taken to make it look like a fully functional phone.
try connecting it to navifirm etc to get its old OS back probably.

iphone 4s should be available if you could import it from US unlocked version (but you need to get it from auctions)

What about the upcoming 5C? How much will it cost?
BTW most probably we won't be selling the phone.
Is the Xperia M a good choice over 720?

Nokia Lumia 1020 heading down-under on the 17th September

Nokia has announced that the Nokia Lumia 1020 is heading to Australia on the 17th September.

The handset will hit carrier Telstra on that date, and will be available from Optus from the 1st October. Both carriers will only carry the Black version.

The handset will also be available unlocked from AUD$899 RRP from the usual sources such as Harvey Norman, who will have Black and Yellow, and Dick Smith and All phones stores, who will have Black, Yellow and White.

Harvey Normal will also carry the camera grip and charging shell in October.

M, I think I'll check it out in the store.
Raja, wouldn't hard reset remove contacts and all?
I'm glad that the pics are auto uploaded to my SkyDrive.
