Nokia Details Call And SMS Filter In Upcoming Lumia Update


Upcoming Nokia update for Lumia devices called Amber brings in the most commonly requested feature of Call And SMS Filter to Windows Phone devices. you can now add people to a blacklist for calls and SMS messages and this feature is now part of the latest ‘extras and info’ app in the Windows Phone store.

Nokia today detailed this feature as below.

Find the number or person you want to block and long-tap on their entry. Choose ‘block number’. The phone will ask you to confirm, and if you agree, you won’t be getting any calls or text messages from that number on your Lumia from now on.
You can manage the numbers you’ve blocked using a new entry in the settings menu: ‘call and SMS filter’. Here you can see how many calls and messages have been blocked and remove numbers from the blacklist, if you’ve made a mistake.
You can also switch the filter on and off – it may be that you only want to block calls during a certain period, for example.
You can also activate a Live Tile and notifications for your filter. And you can choose to automatically block calls from a ‘private’ number – something that is often the sign of sales call.

Had a demo of Lumia 925 at Nokia showroom 2 hours ago.Its too slimmer than 920 and others.But,not slim as iPhone 5.Hyderabad TAI'ians,if you want to have 925 demo,I have found only one Nokia Priority store.That is at Himayathnagar.

Nokia Lumia 1020 to hit China even before Europe

The Nokia Lumia 1020, will be heading to China on the 15th of August, even before the device hits European markets.

Online retailer ePrice is already listing the handset, for the rather pricy 5,990 CNY ($978, €736) on the GSM China Unicom network.

The much more affordable Nokia Lumia 625 is also listed by Nokia China, but without a release date.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 should hit Europe some time in the September to October time frame.

Well guys had a problem yesterday . I was in the bathroom yesterday talking on my phone and the phone just slipped and fell in a bucket full of water . I removed it immediately and just wiped it as fast as I could .
The phone was working and still working thanx god . But their was a blot on the screen . But now in morning when I saw the phone the blot has gone .
Will the blot come again ?
Anybody faced such situation ever with their any phone in the past ?

I had a similar situation sometime back, my daughter dropped my samsung phone in bucket full of water and I too taken it out very quickly and has similar blot on the screen. Then I completely opened all the parts like back cover, battery and kept them in the sun for a hour or two and the phone is back in operation and blot got vanished and never came back

Just put the phone in a bowl of uncooked rice. It will soak all the moisture. Keep the phone overnight if possible. I did the same with my xperia arc.

The 720 is getting stuck frequently. I don't what is the reason behind it. But seriously, would someone expect their phone to be hung frequently, that too a mid ranger , that too from Microsoft?

There’s more information now corroborating the existence of the Nokia Lumia 825, a potential new Quadcore Phablet with Adreno 305 GPU from Nokia with 5.2″ screen. It would feature a 720p screen too (less than the 920 unless it’s 1080p and 720 is all that’s showing up)

Followed your suggestion kept the phone in jar filled with uncooked rice . The moisture over the camera lens went away

But the screen has some botches still again in night I will keep it in the jar .

Nokia denied it for a long time, but it has become quite clear that the company is in fact working on a Windows RT tablet. The device is expected to be announced next month, and we are finally getting some rumored specs and details on the device. According to the new information, the Nokia tablet will launch with Windows RT 8.1, which would likely put the launch sometime in mid-to-late October, since Microsoft just set the Windows 8.1 release at October 17th.

According to the new rumor, the Nokia tablet will feature a 10.1" display running at 1080p resolution with 5-point multitouch and wide viewing angles. That sounds nice, but the 5-point multitouch seems odd given that most modern devices have 10-point multitouch. The tablet is said to be running a Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.15GHz and have 32GB of storage. No word on RAM, though.

There is expected to be a detachable keyboard/stand that will work like the Asus Transformer keyboard and include a battery for extended tablet usage. The tablet is said to have full USB ports with micro HDMI & USB 3.0 port support, and Wireless N Cell compatible. We have heard before that it will come in various colors, but it is said that there will be an option for matte cyan.

I too was asking the same questions as same stuck was wife's handset a couple of times, but lately after the last hang, not faced yet the issue.
Any dates of the Amber update, when shall we expect that.

Nokia Lumia 1020 launches in China for $973

Nokia’s Erik Bertman today launched the Nokia Lumia 1020 in China.The handset is set to retail unlocked for RMB 5,999 ($973), which is about the same price as an unlocked 32GB iPhone 5.

China Unicom will however make a package available where the device will cost 999 yuan ($163) and then 386 yaun ($63) over 3 years. The camera grip will cost 499 yaun ($81.50).

The handset will also eventually become available on China Mobile, the world’s largest carrier.

China is currently the world’s biggest smartphone market – hopefully they have enough consumers to support the high price tag of the gadget.

Had a demo of 925 two days ago.UI is same as all Windows Phones.But,slimmer than Lumia 920.Not as slim as iPhone 5.
