A Reality Check: How Many of Us Actually Wear Seat Belts?

I always wear seatbelts whenever I drive(It has been a habit since I started driving). If I am on the passenger seat I don't wear them when I am in the city roads. But while cruising on the highway whether it be driver seat , passenger seat I wear seatbelts.
Seat Belts are damn important ! Its as important as ABS or Airbags !

I always wear seat belt when I am in front seat, driving or passanger.
But not when sitting in rear seats where I sit rarely
I actually feel more comfortable wearing the belts.

I remember a bit, I have seen on one of the Audi car in Europe that if driver and co-driver do not put the seat belt, it will not allow you to shift into any gear and keep on blinking and with a nice buzzer.

And even the driver and co driver put their belts, it still blinks and make a buzz that rear passengers did not put the belt.

So In India this kind of system works really as most of them do not care to put the seat belt and even it is just blinking red, they do not mind

well honestly back in India locally i don't use seat belts as i drive very rarely locally (prefer using a my bike) and our city is not a metropolitan city where you can drive above 50-60 anyway. But yes any thing outside first thing i do is put my seat belt as well tell the front passenger to do the same.

And back here in US i guess i have never driven without a seat belt.

Wearing seat belt has become automatic now. May be around 1-2% times I don't when going near-by otherwise always.
Now these beeps also ensures I don't miss

as RK said cars should not **** to 3 or 4 gears without belts.

I always do when I'm in the front seat. I even do it when i'm in the back seat except for the circumstances when 3 people need to be seated at back or seat belt locks have been removed by driver.

I don't wear seat belts when i am driving in city traffic ( Cops in chennai don't mind ) But i always wear and make my front seat passenger wear ( mostly my wife ! ) when I am on a high way !

I happen to travel by ABT travels from Chennai to tirunelveli couple of weeks back. Surprisingly I found Seat belts in that bus. I was wearing it and every one looks me strangely.
