We often say that looks are subjective and may vary from person to person, but with Yamaha Fazer, the case is slightly different because this is a beloved bike of all two-wheel aficionados. Yamaha Fazer has monstrous appearance, which sometimes feels even better than sibling, R15 and headlamps help giving a macho look too. Amid the headlamps is the third eye of Fazer which essentially serves the purpose of parking lamp, and this combination gives the overall fascia of this bike an entirely balanced look.

Now we turned to province which evades most of the driving pleasure; instrument cluster that is. The Fazer has fully digital panel which houses a tachometer, speedometer, and fuel gauge. In addition to these gauges are various alert markers namely turn signal, and high beam indicator etc. As far as the readability of these instruments is concerned, Must admit that tachometer is relatively difficult to read, though it’s all about getting used-to, which eventually makes it appear better. Besides, the rear view mirrors are little hard to adjust while on move. The side profile is somewhat exciting, first thing that caught our attention was huge cowl, which is the primary macho substance of this bike, and sports traditional Yamaha logo with the Fazer decal, which more or less emerges out as a flaunt factor, but as they say, If you have it, you show it.

An all black engine looks good, and 5 spoke alloy wheels sporting the similar finish are charm to look at. However, rear profile is just a replica of non kitted version of Yamaha FZ-series. The same tail lamp finds their way on the Fazer too; where as bottom-end of rear mudguard is complemented by a reflector.

Now for a bike which comes at a price close to Rs.80,000 on road, the fantastic handling is expected to come as standard, and so does the Fazer has same. The riding position is sporty and at same time comfortable as well. Thanks to protracted handle bar which gives a feeling of riding something really big.

You won’t complain of slipped disk even after long rides, the front telescopic forks take care of it well, and mono cross rear suspension is able to strain most of the road knocks making the ride comfy for the pillion too. Add to that the well cushioned seat which is an icing on cake. However, feet trouble may be come into play on long trips, for this oddly placed foot pegs take away credit, which are placed towards the rear to give a sporty ride setup, thus, it won’t be an injustice either, if we call this bike not suitable for long highway cruise with constant stretch greater than odd 120 Kilometers.

Yamaha is well-known for their refined engines, and this model didn’t left us disappointed. True to its DNA, engine is super silent and low noise levels are comparable to Honda engines (Known for silent machines). The Fazer has same engine as of the FZ series, this 153cc heart readily pumps out 14BHP of power which is capable enough to give a lead in stop-n-go traffic. Speaking about transmission, the FZ-S comes with habitual 1 down, 4 up gearbox with a toe shift gear lever. The perfect gear ratios make it a traffic friendly bike, but only glitch you may feel in traffic is heavy handle bar.

Now answer to the FAQ that’s asked by every bike enthusiast; the top speed. We managed to hit three digit number in no time but the figure above that is not so easy to attain. Yamaha Fazer runs out of breath after 100+ Kmph speeds. Yet on empty roads, something above that is fairly possible. Although, Fazer remains rock solid at high speeds and you won’t feel the wind resistance hampering the performance.

In case you need to bring this monster to a halt, not much of effort is required. The front disc and rear drum brakes are capable to bring the ride to stall when you need it. A 60:40 ratio (Front: Rear) is optimum for emergency braking. While the Front disc gives a reassuring feel, the rear drums work just ok. Also with wide radial rubber cornering rough patches is a pleasure rather than a cause of panic. The radial tubeless MRF definitely improve rider’s confidence level in spite of winding down sharply for completing the turns.

Fuel Efficiency figures data may cause a let down for some, because Yamaha Fazer manages to return an average fuel efficiency figure of 40kmpl, which is low for a 150cc bike. And to answer the question is higher Kerb weight, but if you are a rev lover, then be ready to drain in most your bucks for feeding its hungry fuel tank.

On concluding note, Yamaha Fazer is undoubtedly one of the most stylish 150cc bike, but the higher price tag and the low fuel efficiency are the only turn-offs for a potential buyers in this segment. At the price of Fazer, there are a few powerful set of wheels available such as Hero Honda Karizma, TVS Apache RTR 180, Bajaj Pulsar 220 to name a few, However, In a nutshell, if you want a ride which is an absolute combination of sports-bike type head turning design and power, then look no further than Yamaha Fazer.

Great work guys.

Earlier version of Frazer was not of my likings, but after recent launches, Yamaha has really refreshed this bike.

this is one bike i really really like. if at all i buy a bike, it would be this one or avenger 220. and yes, i would remove that ugly saree guard!

Great work Akash and 350Z. The photography is getting more better.

I always felt that Fazer is another FZ with the cowl and other attachments. And i like all color options in Fazer. The only thing which still worries me is Yamaha's A.S.S. But i see from our member Deville that his FZ is easy on the pocket too.

You have to see it with 150CC perspective. Yamaha engines are always the best.
Well, if you talk about 150 cc engines, dont forget that R15 is also 150cc.

And FZ engines are like just any other manufacturers.
