Re: Anyone Tried New Windows 8 OS on PC?

I've installed W8 on 17th August. Really really far far better than W7 IMO.
Yes, it is really better in many parts. But I felt closing of any open program is difficult when comparing with older version of windows as no "X" is available for closing an open window as it was in windows7 or its earlier versions.
Although I read somewhere Microsoft stating that it is not necessary to close one live programs to open other since it has capability to run many programs in background.

you can hover your cursor on the top left of the windows to see the apps running in the background, right click and close them if you feel necessary.

though i am yet to see any performance drop from opening multiple apps on my pc.

@gns_blr, But they are Metro apps which is not in W7 and need not close them. And if you want to close them, do as Superbad said. [;)]

this is available only for activation until march 2013 .

you will be given a key for wmc windows 8

you would need to download the .iso file available on the internet specifically windows 8 wmc edition.

use the wmc key and activate your windows 8.[clap]

this is a legit process and is available till march 2013

Ps. @ mods i felt it was necessary to make a new thread so users know what they might end up missing later.

you can use that key after 2013 too , no expiration date at all.

just that you need to use up the key(activate to ms ) before march 2013.

You qualify for this promotion if your PC is running Windows 8 Pro. Additional hardware may be required to watch and record live TV. You must provide a valid email address to receive your Windows 8 Media Center Pack product key. Your product key must be activated no later than January 31, 2013. Microsoft will only contact you at the email address you provide to send you your product key and to remind you when the activation period for your product key is ending. Catalysis Corporation is a third-party company we use to collect subscription information and process the delivery of these emails. If you purchase a new PC with Windows 8 preinstalled and you later upgrade that PC with Windows 8 Pro Pack, Windows 8 Media Center Pack, a volume license edition, or a retail edition, you will no longer be able to install apps that are provided exclusively from your PC manufacturer through the Windows Store.
