I bought a honda city 2 years back (bought in May'14, manufactured in Jan'14) with an on paper discount of 40k. But the car was not a showroom TD car, it was used by company for media testing and reporting purpose and was run within Greater Noida company premises.
When bought, it was run for 38 km. I think I struck a good deal. Got full warranty from the company.
earlier the sales head of showroom was trying to refrain me from buying such a car, but after finalization of deal, he told me that they themself prefer to buy such cars because they get attractive discounts on cars without much of usage.
I want to ask the community members, specially the senior members, did i make any mistake? or i really struck a good deal.

You surely got a good deal from Honda Cars. 38kms that too driven in company itself means nothing. Manufactured in Jan'14 and purchased on May'14, for a 4 month old car full warranty and the discount offered seems a good deal and most importantly I applaud Honda Cars for their transparency in the deal. They told you the truth of the usage of the car. Keep driving and it won't ever bother you buddy.

Media campaign & Media drives are different things.

If it was used for media drive, 38 km is hard to believe. However if it was used only for in house campaign, for eg. Auto expo, then 38 km is believable.

Team,

The question appears to be simple yet the replies can vary. If you are offered a vehicle that is a Demo Car or a Test Drive Vehicle, will you be happy in buying it? Or will you still go for a unused, just-arrived factory car?

Please note, this is in no ways connected to "certified cars" from True Value or UTrust et al. These are the cars which are kept in showrooms for customers to check out before placing the booking.

If provided with discounts, will you still be hesitant in purchasing the Test Drive car?

Please share your views.

Regards

Akash
I have no problem buying a demo car. However I have yet to buy a completely new car, and as a result if I was aiming to buy a new car, I would want to experience it brand new, not been driven before. SO in that sense, I would have to say "maybe"
