This spotted owl is a regular visitor and often roosts on this tree, opposite our gate in Lucknow. But today what I found unusual was the squirrel, barely two feet away (to the right, on the main branch) chirping away madly! Alarm call? Warning? I could not spot any squirrel nest on the tree. I assumed that squirrels would form part of the owl's natural prey.

Brave rodent!
