Yes i agree with Mastersquall completely, their A.S.S is improving slowly but steadily. But then there has been much diversified opinion regarding this, because Tata has asked its A.S.S representatives to be more polite and helpful to Safari customers.

I agree. Much is talked about Tatas poor A.S.S. for past many years. But they have improved a lot & the opinion should change now. I have received excellent A.S.S. from Tata for last 3 years. [thumbsup]

Regarding Vista being under rated, IMO definitely yes. One reason being the 'Indica' tag attached with it giving it a cab feel. I personally love the looks of Vista & IMO it is the most aggressive looking hatch.

Same here. Receiving great support here. Call them once and they will not only rectify your problem but the Manager will call you and politely ask whether the problem is okay or not.But if you want to be treated as a king, you should just visit Jamshedpur (Tata Nagar) once. Here the A.S.S is simply excellent, for the good and simple reason that it is in the campus of the HQ of Tata Motors. BTW, every time you go for a service here, they even offer a tour of the commercial manufacturing unit, if you are bored. But that is only if you want. If not, they always allow you to be beside your car during servicing. And regarding the under rating of the Vista, yes. It simply did not get the rating it deserved. Highly under rated, due to reasons given above by others.

one experience i can quote is my vista 1st service had to be done at a prestigious tata SERVICE CENTREat kottayam as i was out of town(kannur my car dealer KVR MOTORS)
had a sound frm frnt suspension while riding over humps , the service advisor didnt take a test ride even after asking & said i ll see it at the ramp, later at delivery after service he said vista has this problem commonly due to suspension bushes and it s gone temporarily. the sound revertd after 100 kms of ride. i took the vehicle to kvr kannur , crm there helped me out got my problem solved. but i send a letter to tata commenting on how i had both good & bad experiences at different TATA A.S.S they immediately forwarded letter to both service centres demanding reasons and gave credits to the crm at kvr kannur

I own a Vista Aqua TDI-was ~4.4L on road-the terra was ~4.0L on road-end 2009.At that price there was no hatch in diesel and v few matching this in comfort and space in Petrol from any other manufacturer. The Saffire aqua was a couple of thousands cheaper than the aqua TDI.Seemed perfect for me as i am not too worried about "performance" (the quadrajet)
1.5 yrs : 20km/L on highway and 13-15 in city; the usual niggles with switches some rust;not so great ASS;superb ride quality & space(thoughrather small boot).Overall phenomenal value for money-family thrilled.
Now, this model hardly sells!!!-my take :
-Tata does not even offer a test drive! Had to find a friends friend who offered me a test drive on his brand new car!
-None of the car magazines/TV shows did a road test on this
-Tata does not advertise this as VFM-no adverts comparing this with any other car-Price and Value
-Most of my friends are skeptical about my "taxi" till they see it in the flesh and even more amazed when they travel in it
So overall (forgive my long saga)-It seems a superb product, not advertised,No test drive, initial niggles, iffy ASS but FANTASTIC VFM.
Strangely though see a lot more on the road-perhaps word of mouth starting to work?

+1. This is exactly what most of the Tata car (mostly Indica) owners experience. The car is tagged as 'Taxi' to such an extent that people just don't look at the positive sides of it. The plastic quality, fit & finish, A.S.S. has improved drastically compared to that few years ago but people still have that in mind. [anger]
These all reasons make Vista the most under-rated car.

TATA Indica is a very good car it definitely provides the bang for the buck, moreover the petrol engine of this car is much more under-rated. But from my experience I can say that it is one of the most refined engines in this category and its duty well. Its high time that people see the changes TATA has done to their cars.

Hello all,

Yes Vista is an underrated car and TATAs have themselves to blame for it. I believe it is an amazing car. But there is a difference between value-for-money and cheap. The dashboard fixtures look very cheap in Vista. The best things it has is the body work and the Fiat engine.

Authorized sellers and service stations is a joke. My firend's Indica had poor pick up and had to leave his vehicle for three days in the workshop at Mangalore Automatrix and there was no difference when the vehicle was returned. The only difference was that the odometer had 150 exta kilometers added to it. Some body must have taken it out for a picnic!

Modern cars are not just engines attached to a tin shell. They have complex electronics and control circuits in them. TATAs dont have service stations where these things are handled carefully. Most often the service personnel only try to replace parts without understanding the problem.
As for the "Indica" tag and the cab image: that is pure snobbery. If a car is good it is good. What do I care whether it is used as a cab or not?

The day TATAs can give quality service that can match Maruti's, they will sell their cars better.

You are absolutely Right.
Though I dont think it is underrated yet ,it deserves where it is now.

Poor quality fitments, bad service , unreliability are most dominant negatives.

Marut's are no better either but they show a proactive Interest in customer grievances unlike Tata where Owning a car becomes a haunting experience.

I still feel the tremble in spine while I remember the incident when my Vista got stuck in middle of traffic at isolated places thrice for same issue.[frustration]I pity on others who are in same shoes.

The truth is its not Tata is not Par with technology or quality but arrogance and cost cutting short cuts. They Aim at non matured part of the market who are not much aware of automotive segment eg. fresh buyers from Rural areas typically.

Why is Vista an underrated car, well here are some of my reasons:

1. "Indica" badge= taxi image in metros.

2. Pathetic TATA A*S*S*.

3. Very identical to old Indica and boxy rear design.

4. Very heavy, thus can not perform like Swift and because it is tuned for ride can't handle like Punto either.

5. And my last reason= Its a TATA=No snob value of owning a German,Japenese or Italian car.

+100% to Xover.

The new model 2012 is picking up slowly and TASS still needs to improve themselves. We had some bad experiences with TASS on Vista Quadrajet and we have changed the service center every time and finished all of them in the city and finally stuck with a reasonably good fellow.

My final shortlisted car was Vista diesel a year back when I bought Ritz. For two reasons I did not go with Vista 1) TASS 2) Every day I see one Vista Taxi in my street which took me away form Vista.

But to be sincere I drove the 2012 model recently and it is really superb !! and total VFM, then I felt is it is underrated because of TATA people and I agree that the Indica name should be dropped immediately and front designed would have been little different given some sharp edges !!
