WhatsApp now lets you Delete Messages sent over 2 day go

The Delete for Everyone option typically only works for a bit over an hour, but now the period has been extended even further. Previously, this deletion option had been limited to one hour, eight minutes, and sixteen seconds. And now, the Delete for Everyone option will be available for more than 2 days and 12 hours. So, you can still remove your message and have it replaced with “This message was deleted”.

The social media giant announced this update earlier today. To delete a message, simply press and hold on to the message you wish to delete then select Delete > Delete for everyone. However, keep in mind, for this function to work as intended, both the sender and receiver must be on the latest version of WhatsApp.

WhatsApp-privacy-features-1024x576.png

The new features were announced by Mark Zuckerberg via Facebook and WhatsApp CEO on Twitter. First, the app is adding a feature where you can now block screenshot messages on View Once messages as another protection against the content from being shared beyond the intended recipient. you’ll now be able to control who can and can’t see when you are online. This will work similar to the ’Last seen’ feature where contacts of your choice won’t be able to see your online status.

Also, you’ll now be able to leave groups silently where only the admin of the group will be notified about you leaving the group conversation.

WhatsApp makes big announcement! Communities feature rolling out

whatsapp_communities.jpg
Mark Zuckerberg has announced the roll out of the Communities feature on WhatsApp. The new feature will start rolling out to users globally. WhatsApp claims that this new feature will be available to everyone over the next few months. The Communities feature was announced earlier this year and WhatsApp has been testing it in different zones. This major feature update people will be able to connect on WhatsApp in the groups. Essentially, it is like a group of groups and sending a message in a single community will deliver it to all participants of each group.

WhatsApp Communities is a tool aimed at bringing neighborhoods, parents at a school, and workplaces in a single place. Users will be able to connect multiple groups together under one umbrella to organize group conversations on WhatsApp. The company has been working with over 50 organizations in 15 countries to build Communities.

To get started, users can tap on the new communities tab at the top of their chats on Android and at the bottom on iOS. From there, users will be able to start a new Community from scratch or add existing groups. Once in a community, users can easily switch between available groups to get the information, when they need it, and admins can send important updates to everyone in the Community.

WhatsApp is aiming to increase the broadcasting capability of the platform. It claims this will set the bar for how organizations communicate. WhatsApp claims to offer a high level of privacy and security, even with the new feature. WhatsApp claims it will use its end-to-end encryption to keep messages, data out of reach from even the company itself.

Apart from Communities, WhatsApp also enhanced three major features.

new_whatsapp_features.jpg

32-person video calls

WhatsApp is increasing the number of members that can be allowed in a video call to 32. This feature is aimed at increasing the use of the platform for organisational purposes. WhatsApp will be able to take on competition from platforms like Zoom.

WhatsApp Group Size increased to 1024

WhatsApp is expanding the number of people allowed in a group. The threshold has been doubled from 512 to 1024. The bigger size of the group will allow WhatsApp to take on competition from an app like Telegram.

WhatsApp Group in-Chat Polls

WhatsApp is also introducing a new way to take polls within a group. Considering that the sixe of the groups is increasing substantially and even with features like Communities, polls can become a handy feature to vote on important issues within the group.

Message Yourself Feature goes live on WhatsApp Messaging Platform

'Message yourself', a new feature on WhatsApp where one can message themselves without creating any group or using a second WhatsApp account, was previously introduced in the beta version of WhatsApp. It was a quite handy and useful feature for any users out there. This feature has finally started rolling out to all the users who have updated their application to the latest version.

Talking more about the new feature, it’s an end-to-end encrypted feature which means no one apart from yourself will be able to see the chats, not even WhatsApp. You can use this feature to save important notes, documents, texts and links for yourself. If you want to share the saved text or notes later with someone in WhatsApp, you can just swipe and forward them directly without any hassles.

WhatsApp presents 3D Avatars as Digital Versions of Users

whatsapp-presents-3d-avatars-as-digital-versions-of-users-1-1536x864.jpg

WhatsApp has begun rolling out 3D Avatar feature for its users worldwide. These avatars can be used as profile photos or custom stickers, and were first introduced on Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger several months ago. The news follows months of beta testing, which was reported by WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo in June. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the rollout on his Facebook page.
In a blog post, WhatsApp said that users can use personalized avatars as their profile photo or choose from one of 36 custom stickers that reflect different emotions and actions. 3D Avatar stickers on WhatsApp look similar to Snap’s Bitmoji or Apple’s Memoji stickers. “Your avatar is a digital version of you that can be created from billions of combinations of diverse hair styles, facial features, and outfits,” the company speaker said.

The feature will be accessible through the Settings menu, and users will also be able to customize their avatar with different lighting, shading, and hair styles. WhatsApp is following in the footsteps of Facebook and Instagram, both of which introduced avatar features in 2019 and 2020, respectively. If you want to use the new 3D Avatar feature:

  • Check for any pending WhatsApp updates and install them
  • Open WhatsApp on your phone
  • Head on over to Settings
  • Tap on Avatar
  • Select “Create your Avatar”
  • Let your creativity loose!
In addition to being a fun way to change up their profile picture, the use of avatars can also improve privacy. Since most people can easily recognize someone from a photo, using a 3D Avatar model of the person instead makes it much less likely that they will be identified. This can be especially useful for those who want to maintain a certain level of anonymity on the platform.

WhatsApp has confirmed that its new avatar feature will only be accessible within the app itself. This means that users cannot use avatars created on Instagram or Facebook on WhatsApp, nor can they use avatars created on WhatsApp on Instagram or Facebook. In order to use avatars on WhatsApp, users will need to create them within the app.

The new update focuses on improving its Communities feature, which was launched last year. Another addition to the update is a feature that allows users to easily see groups in common by searching a contact’s name.

The new features will start rolling out globally over the coming week. WhatsApp has hinted at the possibility of more tools being introduced to improve the groups experience for both admins and members.

WhatsApp beta unveils VR integration with Meta Quest headsets

whatsapp-beta-meta-quest-688x1536.jpg

WhatsApp is gearing up to introduce several exciting features for Android users, some of which are expected to extend into the realm of Meta Virtual Reality (VR) quest. In its latest development, the company has released a new beta build that includes a Meta Quest-linked device feature.

According to available information, the WhatsApp Android app will soon allow users to link their existing accounts to the Meta Virtual Reality headset. This feature will prove particularly useful for individuals planning to purchase the recently announced Meta Quest 3 VR gadget.

In the past, many users who owned VR headsets attempted to use WhatsApp on their devices but faced compatibility issues that hindered proper functionality. Taking note of this difficulty, WhatsApp has taken the initiative to address the problem and is currently developing a solution.

Insiders have revealed that WhatsApp is currently testing this new feature in the Android beta 2.23.13.6 version. Since the feature is in the beta phase, certain details remain unclear at this time, including how the connection between an existing WhatsApp account and the VR device will be established, device compatibility specifics, and the impact on privacy and end-to-end encryption.

While the unique functionality is still under development, WhatsApp intends to implement the feature and release it to beta testers in upcoming app versions. In the meantime, users are encouraged to regularly check the Google Play Store for updates and ensure they have the latest build number installed.

WhatsApp’s foray into the Meta Virtual Reality realm marks an intriguing step forward for the messaging app, opening up new possibilities for communication and interaction within the VR space. As the development progresses and more details emerge, users can anticipate a seamless integration between their WhatsApp accounts and Meta VR devices, enhancing their overall virtual reality experience.

WhatsApp now allows messaging unknown contacts without saving their numbers

whatsapp-unknown-phone-number-search-710x1536.jpg

WhatsApp has recently launched a new feature that simplifies initiating chats with unknown individuals by allowing users to search for their phone numbers directly within the app.

According to WABetaInfo, this handy addition aims to provide a more convenient and private way for users to engage in conversations without the need to save unknown contacts in their address book. The feature is now accessible to users who have updated their WhatsApp applications to the latest versions on both iOS and Android platforms.

How to Use the New WhatsApp Feature: Chatting with Unknown Numbers
To use this feature, tap on the “start new chat” button in the chat list and enter the unknown number in the search bar. WhatsApp will first search if the number is in your list or not, if not then it will search outside your contacts list.

By extending its search functionality beyond the user’s existing contacts, WhatsApp ensures that conversations with unfamiliar numbers are made easier. This feature eliminates the need for third-party apps or the official click-to-chat APIs, simplifying the process for users who previously encountered limitations in initiating chats with unknown individuals.

WhatsApp Beta for Android introduces group creation while forwarding messages

Create groups on WhatsApp Beta for Android during message forwarding WhatsApp, the messaging platform owned by Meta is introducing a new feature on its Android beta version that allows users to create new groups while forwarding messages. This feature is expected to save users time and make group creation more efficient.

Within the forwarding screen, beta users will notice a 'create group' icon that enables them to quickly form a new group. After selecting this option, they can add participants to the group and then forward the message to it. The feature is available to some of the beta testers who installed the latest WhatsApp beta update on their Android devices, and it is further expected to roll out to more number of users in the upcoming days.

Additionally, WhatsApp is reportedly working on an animated avatar feature for Android beta. This feature aims to enhance user interactions by bringing more life and personality to stickers, allowing for a more expressive communication experience.

Furthermore, earlier this year in June, the platform introduced a feature on its Android beta that allows users to send high-quality videos. While the feature preserves the original video dimensions, minor compression is applied to maintain a balance between video quality and file size. The default option for video sending remains 'Standard quality,' and users will need to manually select the high-quality option when they want to send videos with better quality.

WhatsApp's continuous efforts to introduce new features and enhancements aim to improve the user experience and provide more versatile and engaging communication tools. As these features are rolled out to more users, WhatsApp remains one of the leading messaging platforms in the market, offering a wide range of functionalities for its global user base.

WhatsApp introduces instant video messages: Here’s how to use them

FireShot Capture 246 - WhatsApp introduces instant video messages_ Here’s how to use them - _ ...png

Meta has launched a new WhatsApp feature that allows users to send and receive short video messages in their chats, adding more emotion and personality to the messaging experience.

Instant video messages are similar to voice messages, but with video. The recording process is also similar to voice messages. Users can tap the icon to the right of the text field to switch to video mode and share up to 60 seconds of video with their contacts. They can also swipe up to lock and record the video hands-free.

Likely to distinguish from regular videos, video messages show up in a circular form in chats. They play automatically on mute but users can tap on them to hear the sound.

The feature also supports end-to-end encryption, ensuring that the messages are secure and private.

Meta says that instant video messages are a fun and convenient way to share moments with friends and family, “whether it’s wishing someone a happy birthday, laughing at a joke, or bringing good news.”

The feature has begun rolling out and is expected to be available to all users in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp is rolling out Animated Avatar feature for Beta users

FireShot Capture 252 - WhatsApp Rolling Out New Animated Avatar Feature For Android Users_ A_ ...png

WhatsApp introduced Avatars around a year ago, which allowed users to create custom stickers and profile pictures in a cartoon format. These avatars became very popular, and WhatsApp is now rolling out animated avatars to some users.

Per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out animated avatars with beta version 12.23.16.12 and above. Users who have created an avatar will be able to see an animated avatar tab next to the emoji and stickers tab.

The animated avatars are categorized under several sections based on expressions. These include happy, funny, angry, cheerful, and so on. The animated avatars in WhatsApp are similar to Bitmoji in Snapchat, but the added animations add an extra layer of feelings that can be expressed in your WhatsApp conversations.

The avatar creation page in WhatsApp says that it uses AI resources from Meta, to create personalized animated avatars, from a single image.

When a sender selects an animated avatar, it is sent as a sticker. The receiver can then add that animated avatar as a sticker to their Favourites section.

To use this animated avatar feature, users should have their avatar set up on their WhatsApp accounts. This can be done by going into Settings > Avatar > Create your Avatar. Once the avatar is created, users on the latest beta version of WhatsApp will see an extra tab next to the emoji, sticker, and GIF section. From here, users will be able to send animated avatars to others.

Note that the animated avatars feature is only available to beta users of WhatsApp running version 12.23.16.12 or above. The feature appears to working on Android phones as of now. WhatsApp might soon release animated avatars on the stable version as well.

Only the sender needs to be on the beta version to create and send animated avatars. Receivers using older or stable versions of WhatsApp will be able to see and receive animated avatars as animated stickers on both Android and iPhone.

Android users can join the beta program of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store. You can also try manually installing the latest beta version of WhatsApp via APK to try out animated avatars.

Along with animated avatars, WhatsApp is also seen testing a new feature that allows users to set group settings even before creating a group. This feature was spotted in the previous beta version.

WhatsApp screen-sharing feature goes official

1w.png

WhatsApp has announced the public release of its beta screen-sharing feature for Android, iOS, and Windows users.

WhatsApp on Tuesday introduced new features including screen sharing and landscape mode on video calls to improve the overall calling experience. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new features through a Facebook post and on his Instagram channel.

2w.png

WhatsApp’s New Screen-sharing feature
During video chats, this feature enables users to instantly share the screen of their smartphone, allowing users to collaborate and communicate better. Users may now show presentations, check papers, troubleshoot technical issues, and simply share experiences with friends and family through the new feature.

3w.png

As it enables users to share their device’s screen in real-time during video calls, it can be conveniently used to help others as well. For instance, one can use WhatsApp’s video call screen-sharing capability to assist the elderly in their family who are not familiar with technology and need help solving an issue in their phone.

Users will have complete control over the screen-sharing capability as with any other video conferencing program, indicating that one can stop sharing content at any time they want.

Users can access this feature by simply clicking the “Share” icon when on a video call, post which they will have to select whether to share a particular application or the entire screen. Small meetings might be easily arranged on WhatsApp because it allows video calls with up to 32 people.

Screen-sharing was previously only available to beta testers but is now available for everyone. Since the update is being released gradually, it can take a few days for everyone to receive it.

How to share your screen on WhatsApp?
On WhatsApp for iOS, Android, and Windows desktops, screen sharing is possible through the steps below. Only while a video call is engaged can the feature be used. Once WhatsApp’s most recent version is installed on both devices, follow these steps to share your screen:

  1. Step 1
With the individual you want to share your screen with, start a WhatsApp video call.
  2. Step 2
You will now see a new phone-sharing icon where the video options are found at the bottom bar. Click on screen-sharing icon that resides to the right of the camera switch button.
  3. Step 3
You will see a prompt asking you to allow WhatsApp to record the screen. Tap on Start now.
  4. Step 4
Click the Stop sharing icon to stop sharing your screen on the call whenever you want to.
Swipe up from the bottom of your phone once you start screen-sharing to return to the home screen and open another app. Launch WhatsApp from your home screen, app launcher, or the notification for the active call in the notification shade whenever you need to get back to it. As mentioned before, the person you share your screen will see everything now visible to you. Therefore, be cautious when using this tool to avoid disclosing sensitive information by mistake.

WhatsApp now allows users to send HD quality videos, here is how to use the new feature

WhatsApp has launched various new features in the last couple of days and looks like this isn't going to stop anytime soon. The instant messaging platform recently allowed users to send photos in HD quality, something that was much-awaited. And now, the platform has started rolling out a new feature that will let users share videos in HD quality.

WhatsApp's HD video sharing feature is available for some users. In the coming weeks, it will be available for all users. The new feature allows users to send videos in 720p HD quality. Until now, videos sent via WhatsApp, no matter the quality, were automatically compressed into 480p quality. Hence, the rollout of this feature guarantees that the videos shared via WhatsApp would be of much better quality than before. However, you can't send videos in 1080p or 4K quality yet.

You can send HD videos through WhatsApp the same way that you used to send HD photos. The first thing to do is to update your WhatsApp application to the latest version via Play Store or App Store.

Now, open the WhatsApp chat in which you want to send the HD video. Then, click on the attachment icon and select the video. On top of the video you will see a toggle button called HD that will let you change the quality of the video.

WhatsApp Multi-account feature goes live for everyone

After being in beta for a couple of months, WhatsApp has announced that it’s multi-account feature is going live for everyone. It gives users the ability to have two WhatsApp accounts logged in at the same time on a single device. The feature is helpful for switching between accounts – such as your work and personal, according to the brand.

“Now you no longer need to log out each time, carry two phones or worry about Messaging from the wrong place”, said the company. As mentioned, with the multi-account feature you can now use WhatsApp with two of your phone numbers on a single smartphone or any other device where WhatsApp is supported.

How to setup a second account on WhatsApp?
To set up a second account, you will need a second phone number and SIM card, or a phone that accepts multi-SIM or eSIM. Then, open your WhatsApp settings, click on the arrow next to your name, and click “Add account”. Furthermore, you can control your privacy and notification settings on each account as well.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has been busy redesigning it’s App both on Android and iOS for beta users as of now. It features new icons, such as for camera, attachments, etc., for a more modern experience. In addition, WhatsApp is also updating the predominant theme colour for both light and dark modes with a new green colour. When dark mode is enabled, the shade of the background colour is now lighter.

The green colour used across the app has more contrast to it, along with a fresh colour look for chat bubbles and the floating action button. The same new user interface is also available to select users on WhatsApp Business Beta. Even individuals who are on WhatsApp Beta may or may not receive the new UI right away as it is available only to a select number of users.
