Rental companies charge on the number of days, no restriction on the miles done. They have some special weekend offers too.
In our case, we opted for the weekend offer as insurance was included it in for free!
Security deposit is 200 pounds.

Hii Raj_5004, its question about the car, the Insignia, does the car have more legroom in the back seat than a VW Jetta, and how was the interior, did the all black feel claustrophobic?

Sadly, we dont have the time to visit Scotland now, so most probably we will plan to go there in September.
I cannot post a clear picture about the rear legroom with respect to the VW Jetta since I was driving the Insignia and never really sat in the rear seat, except a few minutes to check out the legroom.
It is definitely more spacious than the older Jetta but I think the new Jetta is equally good.
I have always liked all black interiors and the windows were large enough to make the cabin bright and airy, so I was not feeling claustrophobic.
